What can go wrong with old & new versions on same start up disk
I know Apple have recommended that you should partition your disk and run old and new versions on different sides.
With an imac, I'm thinking that I can't partition without wiping a whole load of stuff and I cant put in a new drive because it's all sealed.
By leaving my mac as it is and having both versions on the same start up, what is the worst that can happen? Will preference settings get confused?

I had both installed together for a while. I did this before Apple released the guide recommending how it should be done.
They were playing fine together for a while, then suddenly (and I am not sure what I did to trigger this) FCP7 just wouldn't open without generating Qmaster crash reports. I'm not sure what caused these, and I tried every geeky trick I knew to fix it. In the end I had to thoroughly wipe both off my system and I reverted to just 7.
I know from reading this forum that other people have experienced different results.

Have read conflicting articles/blogs about having old FCP and FCPX on the same computer. I have even read a page from Apple saying that you should partition your drive and have both versions on separate start up disks. Is this the case? Seems a lot of people have had one version affecting the other.
I have an imac which is sealed so I can't put a new drive in there and I wouldn't feel confident partitioning as it will wipe all my stuff.
What to do?Boot off an external fw disc. Install fcpx on that.

In Pages 09 we can do Mail Merge and Import Styles from a document. Can someone please explain how we can do this with the new version of Pages 5.1. Even Apple solutions are only valid for Pages Version 09. What a DOWN GRADE! Thank god Pages 09 is still there.

Just use Pages '09, which should be in your Applications/iWork folder.

What do I do with old student version of software?
A couple years back I got the student version of Adobe Design Standard CS4. I have since upgraded to CS6 and no longer have any use for my Design Standard software. The discs are just sitting there in the box.
My question is, what do I do with it? I've been told I can't sell it because it's a student version. But what do I with it? I'd hate to just throw it out, but it doesn't serve any purpose for me to hold onto it. For the discs themselves I am not aware of any specific recycling programs for DVDs or CDs. You are also correct that since it is the educational version you can not sell the software. -
What do I do with my new ipod touch, which started an ios 5 update, and was interrupted?
The usb plug was pulled out during the ios 5 update. Now itunes won't recognize it. I am using a Windows 7 operating system. What can I do to get it back?

What's wrong with the new version of Itunes....HELP!
I tried to install the ipod software for my new Nano - I got to the point of regeristring my ipod - and then the program bombed. I then tried to update Itunes - the installation vould not be completed...Message: The installation was interupted before completeing - the system was not modified and try back later. The main issue is that now I have no access to Itunes. The installation or lack there of removed the old version. I have read all of the help topics - I am at a totally loss. And, I can't get to my library....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.umm my music is synced depending on how i want it.. so right now I have it set up by artist, and alphabetically.

What can go wrong with an upload
I am developing a JSP-based solution (with SQL Server 2000 at the backend). I tested them on localhost and then uploaded them on a server (where my client could see them). The method worked fine except for the latest version. For this version the pages are running perfectly at my localhost but when I upload them only parts of those pages are shown.
JSPs are running on tomcat. I uploaded the pages through ftp (on the DOS command prompt). During the ftp no error was shown by the ftp window. Can someone tell what might have gone wrong!

What can I do with old copies of Elements
I just purchased Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements 10. I already owned Photoshop Elements versions 6 & 9 (full versions, not upgrades).
Am I legally allowed to give away or donate those programs to someone else? I think the software needs to be activated and, since the serial number has already been used by me, would someone else be able to activate it?

I have an old IPID touch and just bought a anew Nano. If I downoload the latest version of Itunes for my Nano, will I lose all of my osns stored in my old version of Itunes and can I still use my Touch (with my current songs on it) with the new version of Itunes? In the past when I downloaded a new version, I lost my songs on my Touch. Thank you for any help any one might offer.

If you have regularly sync'd your purchased content with iTunes on your computer, and you have NOT downloaded updates in iTunes, then you may have the older version available in iTunes to install.
Delete the app from your iPad, connect to iTunes and choose the older version from your list of apps to install and then let it sync.
However, unless you have kept a copy of the older version like that, then you are stuck now. The App developer has likely pulled the older version from the store, so only the newer version is available in the App Store. -
