What can I do if I can't export the timeline to a Mini-DV casette..

Hi everyone, "nice Asian woman in Italy" again...
Recently I am thinking of giving up i movie,, even if I do love it..
My i movie HD keeps giving me problems when I want to make a master tape
of my finished work; stuttering image, dropping of frames etc etc..
The problem might be resolved if I add RAM (now it is 640) but my PowerPC
G4 can't be installed any more.
One of the solutions would be: I buy new MAC, more powerful one. But the
question is, to what
extent would it need to be powerful, if I movie HD will always give me the
problems? People who have bought the new model with tougher RAM ect,
don't you have any more problems for editing in i movie??
For making DVD, there not seem to be problems, since the mov. file can be
put directly into Toast. But I don't feel secure not making a master Mini-DV
tape.
Moreover DVD does not always seem perfect, either.
When I made 20 copies of
DVD on Toast many of them were defective(the master DVD was perfect):
some part of the film was slow with stuttering sound..
SO.. can I go on with i movie?? Do I have to buy a new MAC?? Which model
could be solutions??? Sometimes I even think of going back to i movie 2, if
I find an old MAC, as he didn't give me any kind of this problem even with a
heavy progect of 1 hour..

Umm I've found something else.. Quick Time..
I had downgraded it from 7 to 6 this summer as I heard lots of
discussion here, but it was upgraded by mistake when I have forgotten to
check off the box. Now it is 7.0.3.
For i movie HD, and i movie 4 (I still use it for old projects) what Quick time
should I use?? Do I have to downgrade it??
Endless love is better than endless discussion, but
it at least gives us quite a few chances to greet each other,, (maybe endless lovers don't greet any more in the end..)

How can I print out all notes or export the entire file?

I have around 300 notes that include a variety of information. I would like to print out a hard copy. I don't want to open and print out each one individually. Is there a way to print out all of them at once. Also, is there a way export the file so I can open it in another application like Excel or Word?

It's not a file, so you can't "open" one file. Every message (and note) is a single file on the computer.
This Applescript will grab all the notes in the selected mailbox (i.e. the selected Notes item in Mail) and put them in a textEdit document.
Note that Mail doesn't differentiate between a note and an email message, so if you run this while a normal email mailbox is selected, it will gather all of your email messages.

Can I edit and "update" an image, in the timeline, without re-importing it and re-doing all the motion/keyframes?

I have an image in my Final Cut Express project, which has lots of intricate movements and keyframes assigned to it.
I've just discovered I need to change something in the image (give it a photoshop edit).
Do I have to re-import the image all over again, and copy over the numerical details in for the "motion" section, or can I just do something to replace the file and have FCE use that new image in the timeline, keeping everything that was setup?

In system preferences set the external editor for stills to Photoshop. Control-click on the image and select open in editor. Make the changes. Save the image.

Why can't I preview my motion tween on the timeline?

I created a symbol and included a motion tween and it works perfectly (has the arrow), but when I try to play it on the timeline it doesn't play (you can only see the first frame of the symbol). When I test the movie the motion tween works fine. This never happened when I used Flash CS6 :S

In Flash Pro, Movieclip Symbols do not show the animation nested within them on Timeline and the full animation can only be previewed using Test Movie.
If you change the Symbol instance type to Graphic from the Properties Panel, you will be able the preview nested animation as well. (Just make sure that the frame span where your graphics symbol is placed is long enough to show the entire animation).

Repeatedly crashes. What I ended up doing was using a backup Final Cut Projects file and jettisoning this one with the glitch. Luckily, nada much lost. I've had a couple of these weird glitches happen in the Timeline, esp. when dealing with compound audio-only clips & some fx's and rather than spending mega time trying to fix the problem, I bail and start again, and try to be more methodical in my approach.

Can I run Final Cut Pro X on the most basic Mac Mini?

My 5 y/o Macbook is on it's last legs I think and really need something decent for video editing. I don't do millions but can't even install FCP on my current Mac and even iMovie takes about 3 days to even open on it. (I've upgraded RAM, HD and OS till Lion).

Sorry, I didn't realise at first that you hadn't yet got a Mini.
FCP X should work perfectly on all current Macs.
However, the ideal one would be an iMac if you can stretch to that.

Why can't I export the timeline footage?

I have bought FCP 10.1.3 and have a trouble with exporting files. I am editing a multi cam project which is shot with Sony PMW F3, Sony A7s, Sony EX1 and Nikon D700.
When I press the master file export option or any other option then it shows those messages.
Some time it crashes down and when I reopen the project then I have to import some of the files again which I have exported several times. I don't know why!
I also trying edit multi cam footage which is not working.
Please help me.

You don't have copies of them on your backup of your downloads/library that you can use to add them back to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library ?
If not then you should be able to copy iTunes purchased music back from a device via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option.
For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

Can Airport Express do AirPlay and AirPrint at the same time? Mine doesn't

I've just set up my Airport Express to join my existing network in client mode, wanting to use it for Airplay and Airprint. Both seem to work fine, but then they mysteriously stop working. I think it happens when I print something; that seems to mess up the device. Like, the Airport Utility will say the base station is no longer part of the network, but I can still print to it, and Airplay doesn't work. It's very confusing.

Just to clarify, I'm not actually using Airprint. It's a USB printer and I'm just printing to it wirelessly via the Airport Express.

How can I get data back that is in the trash?

I don't seem to be able to retreive clips or other data that end up in the trash. When I click on the trash icon contained in the app I am only given the option of Cancel or Empty. Is that it? Once the data is in there it's gone? Thanks.

iMovie 4 trash is a sort of virtual trash in that there isn't really a location where things are put (like your system trash) but instead a representation of how much stuff you cut out of your project. If you click empty (and never due that in iMovie 4 as there is a bug that sometimes trashes your project) what happens is iMovie rewrites all the media files to get rid of the stuff you clipped or deleted.
So there are ways to get your stuff back. One way is to select any clip and pick the restore option which will reset the clip back to the way it was before you made cuts. The downside of this is that you lose all your edits on that clip and have to redo them over if the one you wanted to undo is several edits back.
You might try this instead. Assuming your clips are all off the clip shelf and now down on the timeline, grab all the clips on the timeline, hold down the OPTION key and then drag them all back to the Clip Pane. As you drag up there while holding the OPTION key, you should see a green circle with a ( + ) in it. This means you are making a COPY to the shelf, not moving them. Drop them on the clip shelf. Now select clips on the shelf and do a restore on them from that location. I think this will let you restore the clips to their original size on the shelf while the ones on the timeline will remain untouched. Hopefully you will find what you lost.
In the future, the best way to edit in iM4 to avoid this sort of thing is to import all your clips normally onto the clip shelf on the upper right side. Now rather than dragging them down to the timeline (removing them from the clip shelf) and editing them, OPTION drag them to the timeline which will make a copy to the timeline rather than a move. Don't worry about drive space. When you make copies, they are not real copies (the media files are not duplicated) but instead just additional virtual copies, so you can make as many as you want with very little impact on drive space.
Now you can edit to your heart's content on the timeline and if you ever make a mistake or need to get back a piece of clip you deleted, the full copy remains safe and unedited up and over on the clip shelf. You can always drag down additional copies if you need to get back footage or if you want to use the same footage more than once.

Something happened, now I can't select clips in the timeline of my current project(in Elements 4)

I've been working on a project for a few days now, everything's been fine. Last night while editing, something happened when I was trying to add a transition between two clips. Now I can't select or edit any clips in the timeline anymore, and can't add new ones. When I click on the clips in the timeline, nothing happens. When I try to drag the select box around several of them, same thing. It acts like there's nothing to select. Same thing with right clicks, soundtrack mp3s, etc. The clips ARE still THERE though, and they all play fine in the preview screen in real time, and when I drag the slider back and forth along them.
All the clips are already rendered except the one transition I was adding when this started. When I hit 'Enter' to render, though, it says "Rendering 1 of 6 Audio Previews" instead of the usual x-number of video previews. I've not seen that before so it probably has something to do with all this.
It's ONLY with this one project. I can still edit and select clips in all my other projects as before.
I've already tried loading other projects and then coming back to this one, as well as closing the program and re-opening it. My current project is still stuck like this but the others are fine.
Please keep all this info in mind. This can't have anything to do with codecs or the clips being in the wrong format for the program. They're all regular AVI files and MP3s, I've been selecting and editing every single clip on this timeline dozens of times over the past few days with no problems. I'm just suddenly not able to select or edit them anymore or add anything new to the timeline, but they still play normally as previews.
I'm really hoping this is a simple thing where I've just tripped some setting and accidentally saved it that way and it can be easily changed back.

OK, then all that I suggested here:
Now, Exit from PrE, and Shutdown the computer completely. Wait a few moments, and then do a cold boot, launching PrE and Opening that Save_As Project. Do you now have the ability to edit the Clips on the Timeline?
If not, go to the location where you Copied the AutoSave folder, and view the files with Detail View ON. Then, look at the Date/Time of the files (probably will be 5 of them). Choose the last one written, Open that, and test. If no change, work backwards to the oldest.
If nothing is working, the only thing that comes to my mind would be an issue with the display driver, BUT that should affect all Projects, and not just this one. However, updating the video driver is always a good step, and should not hurt anything.
Note: many MP3's can cause all sorts of problems. I recommend always converting them to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, and replacing MP3's with those WAV files. One can use the great, free audio-editor, Audacity, to convert the MP3's.
If all of the above tests fail, let us know, and if you get any error, or warning messages, copy those down completely, and post those
all failed too?
If so, there is nothing that I can suggest. It seems that your Project is hosed, and is very likely not recoverable.

Why can't I drag a clip into the timeline?

I just loaded PP CD5 onto my Win 7 laptop. I can import movie clips into my project, but I can't drag any of those clips into the timeline. When I try to drag them, I get a hand with a "do not enter" symbol. No error messages of any kind.
I vaguely remember having this same issue when I loaded PP CS5 on my Win 7 desktop several months ago, and I thought I found something on the forums that told me how to fix it, but I can't find it now. Perhaps a change in the preferences?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Did you actually create a sequence? If not, go to File > New > Sequence, or drag one of your clips to the New Item icon at the bottom of the Project Panel. You can also click that to get the New Sequence option.

If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
