What can I do w/ a PowerBook 2400c?

A friend of mine asked me to try and sell her like new PowerBook 2400c/180 laptop. Apparently it was a Japanese version with limited release and collectors have been interested in it in the past, but I don't know how to find any collectors. Other buyers looking for a laptop feel it is too old to purchase, so I was hoping someone on here had some ideas. Do you think I can find a buyer for it? Thanks for any help.

pdx28,
Put it on the Seattle Craig's list and my son will buy it. Seattle has a strong used mac market. I picked up a laptop from Amazon.com headquarters a while back. The seller worked there but listed the laptop on Craig's list.

  • Could NOT move my 12-inch Powerbook G4 battery. what can I do?

After I realised that my 12-inch Powerbook G4 battery is too hot. One of my friends told me that there is a "PowerBook G4 Battery Exchange Program", but I could not remove the battery from my PowerBook. I took my PowerBook to the computer department within my college, but all the Computer guys (including a ACTC) could NOT remove the battery.
As you all know it is a very simple step for removing the battery, but I could not.
I can not view the model and serial numbers labeled on the bottom of my battery, because nobody can remove the battery from the computer.
I called the shop where I bought the PowerBook, they said the only way they can do it is: take the battery by force (the case would be broken), then use a new case, but I have to pay several hundred Australia dollars.
    What can I do?
I am in Melbourne, Australia. I bought the Powerbook at November 2004.
    Regards

This sounds like a defect and not something that would be caused by a user. I would call AppleCare and ask them what to do under these circumstances. If it is out of warranty and they refuse to do anything, ask to be transfered to Customer Relations. Be polite but firm and explain that this is just a weird occurance and not related to something you did. How could it be? Hopefully they can find a way to unstick it, either by talking to them or by sending it in. In addition if your battery is heating up, they may replace it due to that fact alone. Try to find a way to measure the heat it put outs before calling in. Hopefully this will work for you!

  • On PowerBook G4 OS 10.5.8 my chess App tells me "You can't open the app 'chess' because it is not supported on this architecture. It has worked before. What does that means? What can I do to get it working?

It sounds like you might have accidently copied Chess over from an Intel Mac, or an Intel Mac's installer DVD.  The architecture typically means it is designed uniquely for either Intel or PowerPC.  Be sure to extract Chess from the 10.5 Retail installer disc that looks like * and not any other disk.  http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist lets you extract individual applications from installers without having to reinstall everything.

  • What Speed can I run on my PowerBook G4 1.25GHz Matshita DVD-R UJ-816 drive

What Speed can I run on my PowerBook G4 1.25GHz Matshita DVD-R UJ-816 drive?
Can I run above the 2x speed, say if I bought some TDK 16x DVD-R would they work. Please can anyone help me.
    Cheers Nick G
    Powerbook G4 (15" 1.25GHz) & a Desktop G4 400MHz (PCI graphics)   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Be careful of the Verbatim 16 X DVD-R. I just made 14 Coasters before I got the correct answer from Pioneer who supplied the DVD 104 Super Drive on my Mac even though I installed an A227 firmware update.
They will not burn reliably on my g-4 mac when running Mac OS 10.4.5. I can not burn these DVDs using Toast 7.02.
I have no problem with HP 8X DVD-RW or DVD-R though.
I checked with Pioneer on this and they were helpful explaining the inability of that drive to handle that disk with the present firmware version.

  • Can't log in with powerbook aftr changing wrt54g password

Everything was working fine until I finally got around to changing my network name and password. I have one Mac in my office, and I have an aluminum G4 powerbook using airport -- a dandy litle network. The powerbook is using airport for wireless.
However, I just decided to get around to changing from the default settings to a new network name and a personal password on the router.
Now my powerbook picks up the new network name, and asks for the password, but although I am certain I put it in correctly, I get the error messge "that is not the correct password"
I have successfully joined other networks, elsewhere, that needed passwords... what can be going on with my own network and router here?
    Aaaack!
I tried logging in using a different browser on my office Mac, and the password worked for that... so I know the password I entered is what it's accepting from this computer (which is wired into the router, btw).
Can anyone help me with this?

Which password you are using either it is WEP or WPA?? Let me know the key level ...

  • ITunes and my iPhone won't sync.  What can I do with this software issue?

I have a PowerBook G4 running OSX 10.5.8 and I have iTunes 10.  I also have an iPhone 4.  I recently upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4, I then plugged my iPhone up to iTunes to sync.  Now iTunes is telling me due to the upgrade of the iOS, it will not recognize the device.  I would have to upgrade to iTunes 11.  Easier said than done, right?  But the system requirements to run iTunes 11 is at least running OSX 10.6 or later.  This sounds great but i think my PowerBook G4 cannot hold or run 10.6, iTunes 11 cannot run without the OSX of 10.6 or later, and my iPhone 4 cannot be recognized by iTunes since the iOS's too new.  but can't upgrade iTunes to 11.  What can I do to resolve this communication/software issue without purchasing out the wah-zoo?

  • What happened to the Leopard on Powerbooks so far thread ???

What happened to the Leopard on Powerbooks so far thread ???
Where did it go ? Even my post is missing.

Well, I can tell you what happened with my neighbors - a complete and utter disaster. It just won't install. I went so far as to reinstall Panther for her (so she can have a working computer) and then try to archive and install. Failed. There's a post about it in the 10.5 forum/installation and set up. It really *****. I don't know what else to do. She's supposed to pay for a license and now, if she doesn't, I'm left holding one with nowhere to put it. Maybe I can just sell it.
This is not cool for Apple. I don't know what they didn't do right, but it ***** and is very disappointing. It's worse because I'm up and running with it on my MacBook so I feel bad for her.

  • Just installed Lion and now my Word, Excel and Powerpoint no longer work. What can I do to open all old documents?

I just installed Lion to my Powerbook that I purchased in October 2010. My Microsoft Word documents no longer open and my Mac version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint no longer work. What can I do to open all old documents?

    Upgrade to Office 2011.
You must be running Office 2004, which was designed to run on PowerPC Macs.
PowerPC apps would run via "Rosetta" on Snow Leopard, but with Lion, Apple has finally pulled the plug on PowerPC apps.
