What can I do when iPhoto says it needs an software update but can't find it??
Hi there,
I had issues with the HD from my old Mac mini.
So I installed Mac OS X snow leopard on an external HD.
Next step was installing iPhoto from a cd.
When I try to start it, it says it needs a software update.
Only when I search for it, it says it can't find a software uPdate for iPhoto??
What can I do to solve this problem. I always enjoyed iPhoto and it ***** that I can't use it now

After downloading the new Lion, my photobooth doesnt open. I click it and it bounced on my dock then a screen pops up basically saying it needs to be updated but i dont know how to update it without opening up the app. What do i do?
Saturday, from inside my pictures folder, I opened PhotoBooth for the first time since installing Lion. The same message was given to me. I said OK, or something, and it updated with the new app., icons etc. with no problems. Wish I could help you more but I am a bit mystified as to why it didn't update with the Lion install in the first place?

Trying to up date my OSX currently use 10.7.5. i have tried to download mountain lion but it says i need 10.8.0 but i cant find the download link to download 10.8.0 HELPPPP!!!
Download Mac OS X 10.9 from the Mac App Store. If it's incompatible with your computer, Mac OS X 10.8 will be as well.

Start by making a back up:
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
Then try repair the Library:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

What does it mean when it says "currently on the release update channe " l
under the about firefox help thing at the top of the page( ,after i downloaded the9.0.1. update thingy )there is a sentence that now says "You are currently on the RELEASE update channel." What does that mean ? & does it have anything to do with the extremely slow response time &/or almost continuous"page not found" or "unable to connect to web" crap I keep getting 95%of the time I attempt to go on line ? p.s. I have dial-up with no possibility of getting high speed any time in the next 5 yrs.,thanks to my location here in Alaska so lets not even go there :) & what used to take me 5min.to do re; E-mail etc, now takes up to 20 min. but only after I downloaded that 9.0.1 stuff. Please Help Me !!!
The Release update channel is the correct update channel for normal Firefox users.<br />
There are other update channels that are meant for testing future Firefox version for more experienced people to look for bugs and try out the code that will appear in those new versions.<br />
Normal users shouldn't use such test versions, so you are fine with what you currently have.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I was playing fine this morning but when I tried to load Runescape just now I keep getting the message
"Please Update Java

I've done the software update. It restarted and even said it was reinstalling Java but when I tried to load it on the browser again, I got the "Please Update Java" message. I went to the Apple website to manually download Java for OS X Lion 2012-002 but it says that a newer version is already installed on my Mac.
Any help would be appreciated. I dont even know how to uninstall Java and reinstall the 2012-002 version.How do I test whether Java is working on my computer?

LR5 says PS5 needs Camara Raw update, but manager says it's updated
I need to open photos to edit in PS5, but Lightroom says it needs Camara Raw 8.2. The manager will only update it to 6.7.0.339, and I'm unable to find a more recent plug-in.

I'm not given the option to open with LR adjustments, unfortunately. Just to open anyway or not.

Due to having a gen 2 Ipod, I can't download any apps from the app store. Plus, many of my previously downloaded apps (that I bought) aren't working...so I can't even re-download them since I still have 4.2.1. HELP!!! Rediculous that I can't use apps I paid for on the same device that I purchased them on.

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync. -
I have Java Console 6.0.01.03 and when I open Firefox it says I can install Version 6.0.02.03 so I say install. Then when I turn off my machine and I go to Firefox it asks me to do it again.
You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension, you do not need them to run Java applets.

What is the exact message?
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Write down what it says about "version"and report that here. Now continue to "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).

How do I update my iTunes on my iPhone manually?
Not positive here, but if your iPhone is using iOS 6, I think you need iTunes 10.7, which isn't available for Mac OS 10.5.
My new iPhone 5 isn't compatible with my iMac G5, fortunately I have a MacBookPro that is compatible.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.
