What can Interconnect do better than the BPEL process manager
I would like to know which integrations problems can be best done with Interconnect and which with the BPEL process manager. It seems to me that the BPEL process manager can do just the same.

In my opinion BPEL can do more than Interconnect.
Yes they have overlap.
From my opinion Interconnect is used as a data-interface tool. where Bpel has more functions to create and start processes, work easily with services. Sure a data interface can be build in BPEL (the Oracle one to be specific), and there should be nothing wrong with it.
And from a support point of view you want to have 1 tool to maintain instead of 2.
My guess is that Interconnect, and the solutions build with it, will eventually dissapear into the BPEL process manager.

Error installing the BPEL process manager
Hi,
it's getting a bit annoying right now, so I ask this forum for help. I would like to install the BPM on a windows machine, but every time I start the steup.exe it tells me that I do not have enough swap storage (required 1535, available 0)... swap storage on windows???
since I have no idea how to solve this problem, any hint is appreciated :-)

click Change Button for Virtual Memory
change the Max Size to be 1536

i wouldn't want to argue with previous poster, because i'm not too over confident with this thing, but i have got an undersatanding that .jsp's are translated to servlates and then compiled...
so technicaly jsp does exactly what servlet does...
but when you work with .jsp pages, then you can create web applications more rapitly and indeed there are those special tags that you may define for your self... (though i've never used them -- but then again, i'm just a n00b to JSP technology) -
How to config the proxy of Bpel process manager(with password)

The The Oracle BPEL Process Designer & Manager server is installed on my computer in domin of my company, so if One of the BPEL processes deployed on the BPEL server needs to access a synchronous Web service hosted outside the firewall .i need to config the proxy, but the proxy of my company needs my ID and password to access outside . after I congfig the proxy
option of designer and build the Process, there will be pop-up a dialog box and ask for my ID & password .But how i config the proxy of Bpel process manager?? I read the tecnote about HTTP Proxy Configuration and config the proxy in the obsetenv.bat ,but it seems has no information about my ID&password in obsetenv.bat.
The question is How can i let the Bpel process manager know my proxy and ID&password ?? pls help me ,thx!I have set these value in obsetenv.bat as follows, and I restart the Bpel manager server and designer.

Installation of "Oracle BPEL Process Manager" (newbie)
Hello,
I need to evaluate the "Oracle BPEL Process Manager" for a seminar at my university.
I am completely new to the BPEL topic and I need some help installing the "BPEL Process Manage".
1) I downloaded the file "Oracle BPEL Process Manager (10.1.3.1.0)" for x86 Windows. 340 MB ; filename: "soa_windows_x86_bpel_101310.zip"
2) In the Install Guide of that package it says there are two installation scenarios:
■ Scenario 1: Oracle BPEL Process Manager with Oracle SOA Suite
■ Scenario 2: Oracle BPEL Process Manager for OracleAS Middle Tier
I think the best and easiest (and smallest?) for me is the first one "with Oracle SOA Suite". But the Guide I have is only for the second Scenario.
It says the first one would be explained in the guide "Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) Installation Guide", but there's nothing said about BPEL ! ??
Do I have to download the complete "Oracle SOA Suite 10g (10.1.3.x)" ?!
Or can I just try to execute the setup of my "Oracle BPEL Process Manager (10.1.3.1.0)" without a guide?
I'm really confused here and help would be much appreciated.

the part of the upgrade is to run the upgrade scritps. Since the db is lite, we have to use msql via jdbc connection. But I have no idea what's the db name created under 10.1.3.1. Checked ORACLE_HOME/install/readme, there seem no such info. it could be the instance name in the readme. But had it tried, no work. -
Problem starting BPEL Process Manager
When starting the BPEL Process Manager, the second window that is spawned to run the start_olite.bat throws a hotspot error as shown below. This happens each time and causes the PM not to start. Anyone had this problem ?.

I have the jar's, the drivers in, the jdbc url connection as

Errors after upgrading Bpel process manager
Hi all,
As said in the subject I recently upgraded to the latest version of the Bpel process manager. And it looks like some changes have been made ;-) My project does not compile/deploy anymore. See below the obant errors I got. Apparently, I should now add the ns prefixes in the bpel source ... could you confirm? What impact will that make on the queries?

Hi all,
I modified the bpel so that it could compile by letting the designer add prefixes where it needed some. Then I deployed the process and tested it. Unfortunately ;-( See below the error log. It looks like the newly added prefixes are source of troubles ...
Any ideas?

BPEL Process manager connection in Jdev
Hi All,
We are using SOA suite 10.1.3.4 advanced instalaltion and Jdev 10.1.3.4.
When i try creating a Integration server connection in the Jdev,the BPEL Process manager server conenction fails.
I checked the details the BPEL Identity Service says
java.io.FileNotFoundException:http://10.209.125.23:80/integration/services/testconnection/BPELConnection
Others i.e BPEL Domain says Not Run.
In the EM console under oc4j_soa instance all the services except ascontrol and javasso are running.
Please help.

AshwiniDon't think so, I'm not sure what causes it, just know how to fix it. I have seen it crop up when deploying, and starting and stopping SOA Suite.
For some reason when it occurs bouncing the whole SOA Suite doen't work you need to just bounce that service.

BPEL Process Manager & Custom Functions
In my application, there are a couple of functions that i need to use within the bpel processes. But I found that in order to use them inside BPEL processes, i need to put them in the .bpel file and for them to work from inside the bpel process i need to register them with Oracle BPEL Process Manager.
Is this something like if i am using an Oracle parser then i need to compulsorily register these functions ? If my functions are using an open source parser like Xalan or Xerces then need i register these with the Oracle BPEL Process Manager ?
Why is it that the custom functions that i use need to be registered with the Oracle BPEL Process Manager ? Can't i use them without registering them ?

AjayThanks for your response Marc, but just to clarify, are you saying that the "admin.jar -restart" operation (as in my ant extract above) doesn't work for an OC4J server running the BPEL process manager, and the only way to do this is to fully shutdown, then start the OC4J server.

Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4 Test Connection failed for BPEL Process Manager.

Verified and tried below steps:
1. hw_services and orabpel and deploy_services are up and running
2. Jdeveloper and Oracle SOA Suite Version is 10.1.3.4
3. Tools->Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy is disabled.
4. Restarted hw_services and orabpel via Application server control for OC4J_SOA > hw_services/orabpel
5. Able to connect the bpel process manager(BPELConsole) from Browser.
6. But Not able deploy using ant tool as well as with Jdev Deploy option(no domains are displayed under deploy option in Jdev)
7. Ant deployment throws error,

I am in the process of trying out the Oracle's BPEL workflow solution. Please pardon me if I am asking obvious questions.
I am trying to install the BPEL Process Manager 10.0.3.1.0 from the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/bpel/index.html.
1) Created the Oracle DB for the purpose.
2) I installed the Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.3.1.0 for OC4J. The documentation I am following says the following:
You need to download the SOA Suite patchset 10.1.3.3 from MetaLink and then apply
the patchset on BPELPM Standalone 10.1.3.1.
As I donnot have access to the MetaLink, I was not able to apply the above patch. Is there a workaround it? Or I am doing something wrong here? Please suggest.
3) Created the BPEL schema in Oracle DB.
4) Downloaded the Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.3.3 for BEA WebLogic. Ran the set.bat script that created the BPELDomain, Admin Server and BPEL Server.
I am able to start the Admin Sever (logged in) , but when I try to start the Managed BPELServer, its throwing an error saying boot,ini is not initialized properly. I corrected the username password in boot,ini file, restarted the domain, but no good.
Does not applying the patch hosing me? or is there some step that I am missing or I am missing something on the weblogic side (9.2 MP2).

But, seems like I am back to square one. Still having the following error, when I try to start the managed BPELServer from the AdminServer under the new BPELDomain created using weblogic scripts. Changing the username/password in boot.properties(to weblogic/weblogic, same as domain) didn't seem to help.

weblogic.security.SecurityInitializationException: Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid; The user name and/or password from the boot identity file (boot.properties) is not valid. The boot identity may have been changed since the boot identity file was created. Please edit and update the boot identity file with the proper values of username and password. BPEL process manager installation in linux/JBoss

I need to install the BPEL process manager in our client systems. Their requirement is to install the BPEL process manager in linux environment on top of JBoss application server. Is there any special parameters needs to be set. I have also gone through the installation document. It would be nice if anyone share the installation experience in linux environement.
I have no experience in installing in linux system. I have accesed it through telnet. How to install the BPEL process mangaer in linux. Is it possible to install through telnet??

Jude.You must install SOA Suite on a linux box where you have the possibility to run an X-Server. You could:
1)
assuming you have an X-Server (example XMing) running on your workstation
start ssh -X <hostname>
execute ./runinstaller.sh
2)
assuming you have an X-Server (example XMing) running on your workstation
start telnet <hostname>
export DISPLAY=<your workstation>:0
execute ./runinstaller.sh
