What can we do to use Power PC Apps like Quicken with Lion?

I love other things about Lion, but I need Quicken to work. Help?!?

Unfortunately, you must have missed the email Intuit sent to all registered Quicken users that gave notice of Quicken versions prior to Quicken Essentials no longer running in Lion. (Quicken chose not to provide any update path, so they've all but abandoned their Mac users).
Personally, I would not reward Intuit's laziness by continuing with them. Intuit has known for months that their software (that required the Rosetta interpreter to run because they couldn't be bothered to update their apps for native Intel processing) wouldn't run in Lion.
Instead, I would look at alternatives to Quicken. Two good ones that come to mind are Moneydance and iBank. Both should be able to import from your Quicken file.

Another solution, though not particularly convinient, would be to create a Snow Leopard boot drive on a external drive that you can switch to when you want to run Quicken.

Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done.

I actually created these fonts with fontagrapher in 1998 and have been using them regularly ever since and now they are not available in InDesign. I really need to use them.

On PostScript type 1 fonts you need to copy/move the fonts to the correct font folder because Font Book doesn't copy them into the folder. Select the fonts double-click the fonts and Find in the font Book app and validate.
The correct font folder depends how you are set up. I am by myself so my font folder was MyHarddrive/Library/Fonts. I was using Suitcas fusion and the fonts are located in a different folder.

Thanks for the post. I'm not sure which model printer that you have but you should be able to print from your iPad 2 with the HP Home and Biz application. This is for wireless printers that are NOT web enabled. I've included a link below with some great information on how to get this resolved. Good Luck!

Stolen/Blocked iPhone 4, what can be still be used/accessed?

Unfortunately I had my iPhone 4 stolen today (pickpocketed in London Underground), so I phoned the operator - O2 straight after the tube journey.
O2 claimed to have blocked the iPhone and also made the sim card "unusable" which was a bit odd as I didn't know the IMEI number (but apparently that does not matter?)
I was just wondering if anyone knows if:
1. The theif can still access or use my iPhone :apps, photos, videos etc (I did have a Passlock on the phone).
2. Can the person still access my sim card phone directory and sms messages (there was no Pin Code for the sim card).

I DID have find my iPhone turned on and watched it roam all over the city while trying to play detective…Thought maybe they realized it could not be used and it seemed to stay in one area for a long time so we checked all garbage cans and dumpsters in the area, then watched as they moved. Thats when I deleted all of my info and called AT&T to suspend my line and report it stolen. I did not have the latest update bc I did not want to delete my entire phone to update it. I had the same error when trying to update my apps on my ipod touch. I tried to input my security code numerous times to no avail. I also made sure my billing address was the same as what my bank had on file. To fix the issue I went into iTunes, logged onto the iTunes store, went to account settings and reviewed my recent purchases. Turned out that I had made a recent purchase and didn't have enough money left on my credit card to pay for it at the time. I paid off the credit card, and then input my security code once more and now it works fine. I've heard that some debit or pay as you go credit cards require a minimum balance, so make sure you have at least that amount in your account.

Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.

I recently burned up an 8 year old Mac (all in one machine) for lack of better terminology.
It was replaced with a MacMini so I could connect to an existing monitor.
Upon launching, I have an error, when I open iPhoto or iDVD, etc that says: Can't open Iphoto because power pc apps are no longer supported.
What do I need to do now?
I'm assuming the software I had originally on my old machine is outdated? But I also thought it was pre loaded with all the basic stuff.
AS you can tell I'm not the biggest user............ but I would like to be!

Sounds like someone restored your programs from you old PowerPC-based system to your new system, probably running OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. Apple dropped the capability to run PowerPC-based code in these systems. You can go to Launch pad and access the App Store to buy updated versions of the iLife programs. However, iDvd is no longer available from Apple. You can buy iLife in a box from sources like Amazon.com that will have iDvd included, and possibly even by calling the Apple online store at, in the US, 800-MY-APPLE. Ask for the latest version of iLIfe with iDvd off the legacy products list.
You probably should click on the apple on the left of the menu bar, click about this mac, more info, systems report, and applications (which will take a few moments to display). Click kind to sort the list. Any programs that say PowerPC won't run under 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion.

The fact that USB flight input devices appear to Windows only is not a limitation; for Mac most are programmed through the sim itself. I know X-Plane does that.
I've simmed a lot and know that good sims need a lot of processor and video hardware horsepower, and you'll also need a lot of RAM. They also run up the internal temps. A Mac Pro has better cooling than an iMac. You can get a program like SMCFanControl to manually set up the fans speeds before starting the sim.
I know of no sims today that will still run on a PowerPC Mac (2005 and earlier) so you need to look to an Intel Mac with top specs. If looking at iMacs, start by looking for the quad-core i7 processor. Those models usually came with an up-rated video card. Thing 12 to 16GB RAM.
My 2010 iMac has the 2.93gHz i7 processor, video hardware (ATI 5750) with 1TB VRAM, and 12 GB of RAM. It runs the x-Plane 10 demo fine but I've not bought the full version because v10 seems to make foot pedals darned near mandatory, and I don't want $100 worth of pedals under my regular work desk at the moment.
