What Can You Do With Premiere Elements

This years winner of the muvipix video contest is a perfect example of what you can do using only Premiere and Photoshop Elements.
http://muvipix.com/cpg/displayimage.php?pos=-2965
The category the winning video, 'Memories', was entered in was Elements only, no other software was allowed.
We also had an Open category that allowed use of any software, this Elements Only entry beat all of the others.
If nothing else it will give you some great ideas to use in your next videos

I haven't used elements in 6-7years so apologies if I miss the mark.
Am assuming videomerge merges the layers down to simplify timeline (akin to nesting?! in Pr) as haven't come across this before. Either way you probs shouldn't need to do so - put each video in a separate layer and crop and move as you have done and render and should come out great as one video file (no need to then video merge).
If you do insist on video merge, move the central big size video to the bottom layer with the 4 small ones to layers above. Then when you merge down the side videos won't get obscurred
Or use garbage matts - look in effects and should be there. Drag and drop on each clip and move cornersto selct area you want to keep just as you would for a crop. See if that sorts your problem out.
Re Premiere Pro. Great piece of software but more complicated so might not suit your needs (though may do) but not cheap (even with edu discount) if not using it for your job (check creative cloud subscription cost). Worth checking out DaVinci Resolve 11 if you want pro software (which is now free as a result of buyout)- mostly for colouring but also has editor. If you do start making decent money on Youtube (though for all I know you could be! :-) ) and want to get into some complex editing and feel limited by Elements, then definitely get pro - you won't regret it at that stage in your editing.
Finally, your screenshots genuinely look very impressive, I like the split view and nice to see people pay attention to lighting - I think lighting and sound are just soooo important (more so than what camera and lens) and far too often overlooked.

  • Barbara Brundage, can you help with PS Elements 11 and Epson R2000 printer issue?

Seeking help with PS Elements 11 which does not work with Epson r2000 printer.  Epson tech support could not fix, said it is PS e11 problem.  Receive prompt on PS e11 screen when I try to print stating "not compatible or settings are not correct.  Have set PS to manage color and printer manages color to off.  Would appreciate any suggestions.  Thank you.

    Hi,
Sincerely appreciate your help.  Running Windows 7 on a  Dell XPS420.  System has been very stable for years.  Before purchasing the Epson r2000, I owned an r1800 which was an excellent printer but after seven years started to exhibit paper feed problems.  The r1800 worked with all applications and I was well satisfied with the saturation, contrast, etc. printing mostly 8x10 and 11x17 prints.
Thank you for the information about the # of installs for PS E11, will try uninstall/reinstall this morning.
Will let you know how things go.

  • What can you do with Color Lookup Tables (CLUT) and other ranges.?

Ok.... I might be repeating something.... but someone
suggested to post this as it hasn't be answered....
Anyway I'm curious on what you can do with Color Lookup
Tables (CLUT) in Fireworks.... I've been looking for details on
CLUT, but have only found information on what it's all about....
Alright, to the point, I'm kind of having some trouble on
what to do period with them....in the optimize panel in Fireworks I
saved the Palette, of all the colors I wanted (or so it seemed,
idk), and made it so it would be for a PNG 32 file... *is this
suppose to be an .act file too?*.... I then took the image to have
the colors replaced to the ones I saved in the custom color
table... so I tried loading the .act file I had saved, that had the
colors I made for the other image, but nothing happened... so I
tried doing other various types of files..... I tried doing it as a
.gif, and it work.... but the thing is I don't want it to be a
gif... and yes, it is kind of vague, but I really don't know what
    to really do....
Is there only certain ways that you can load up CLUT files
into different pictures...?? I want this picture to be a .png file
too, so is there any way to save the color palette, and load them
into these type of files..?? or it can't be done with them..??
overal, I want this image to be .png files... is there any
tutorial or info on this..?? it would be quite helpful...

Choose File > Image Preview > Options tab. Set the
    format type to PNG 8,
GIF, TIFF 8, or BMP 8. Click on the small button to the right
    of the
Format drop down menu to open the tab options menu. Choose
    Load Palette
and browse to the .act palette you you have saved. Clock on
    OK to accept
the changes and close the dialog box. The imported color
    table will be
    applied to the image.

  • What can you do with a stolen iPhone?

My iPhone 5s was stolen last Sunday. Since then I have put a block on the SIM and, using 'Find my iPhone', have set the phone to be erased. 'Find my iPhone' shows the phone as offline all the time (I believe I had cellular data disabled on the phone). I was using a passcode lock on the phone and my Apple ID uses two step verification.
Does this ensure that the thief can do nothing with the phone, not get at my data, e.g. contacts? Or are there still ways of using a phone in such a condition, e.g. via a jailbreak? What can a thief hope to get from the phone?
Any information might help me to sleep better :-)

One additional question: I have been looking at the https://www.apple.com/privacy/docs/iOS_Security_Guide_Oct_2014.pdf and right at the start it says:
Entering Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) mode
Restoring a device after it enters DFU mode returns it to a known good state with the certainty that only unmodified Apple-signed code is present. DFU mode can be entered manually: First connect the device to a computer using a USB cable, then hold down both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons. After 8 seconds, release the Sleep/Wake button while continuing to hold down the Home button. Note: Nothing will be displayed on the screen when the device is in
DFU mode. If the Apple logo appears, the Sleep/Wake button was held down too long.
Does this mean that my stolen iPhone isn't (for the thief) just a brick but that he/she can restore data from some other backed up iPhone and make the phone usable again? I guess my data would be protected but it still gives the thief a saleable phone.

  • What can you do with a Canon T4i? Look at this!

Here is an amazing scene of the Milky Way. It is shot entirely with a Canon T4i and a 10-22mm f3.5-4.5mm Canon lens. The lens was set at 10mm.
This was done by a good friend of mine that I worked with at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City for nearly 40 years. His name is Tom Martinez. He was a master of the darkroom not to mention a great photographer.
Since retirement he has devoted his time to astro-photography. He gives lectures and classes on how to do it. He has built over a dozen telescopes of different designs culminating with the 30” at our Powell Observatory near Warrensburg, Missouri.
Tom is published in many star magazines but here is his “Milky Way”.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_3jehZn7zQ&fmt=37
    EB
    EOS 1Ds Mk III, EOS 1D Mk IV EF 50mm f1.2 L, EF 24-70mm f2.8 L,
    EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX APO
    Photoshop CS6, ACR 8.7, Lightroom 5.7

Very nice job.  It's so hard to find dark skies that can show the Milky Way anymore.  I have to drive several hours to find a place with "ok" dark skies (not fantastic... but decent enough to see structure in the Milky Way.)
Even more amazing is that he managed to get three (mostly) cloudless nights in a row.  That's something that hasn't happened for me all year -- not that I'm bitter about it or anything.  ;-)  (The weather in Michigan has _not_ be kind to us astronomers.  Let's just say no parts on our telescopes are in any danger of wearing out due to excessive use.)
I appreciate that he put his exposure info at the end.   Last year I used a 5D II and the EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM to take some Milky Way shots at the Great Lakes Star Gaze.  I found I could take exposures up to about 45 seconds with no noticeable elongation of the stars.  At about 1 minute I could see a tiny bit of elongation (stationary tripod... not tracking.)  This year I have a 5D III and am looking forward to using that to do more imaging.
    Thanks for sharing that.

  • What can I do with ps4 trophies?

I know you can get trophies from doing certain things but what's the point? What can you do with trophies? Any suggestions. Thanks!

They were introduced to compete with the Xbox 360's achievement system. Achievements were appropriate for Live, but there was a purity to the Playstation, it was about the gaming. We all remember when the PS3 didn't have trophies.  Anyway, thank the achievement whores. I refuse to get a platinum. I just wouldn't be able to live with myself.

  • Answer to my question: Why can I not use Premiere Elements 12 on my PC with WIndows 8.1 when the video is done with the same software on a PC with Windows 7?

i got an answer to use archive function from Mr. Romano:
I did as you said, but it did not work, I get the dummy video with no real video.
I had no menu yet on the video.
What came in my mind when I read your e-mail, on one PC is WIndows 8.1 64 bit and on the other Windows 7 32 bit.
When I load the videos from the camrecorder (tape) with Premiere Elements without doing something, I can switch to the other PC and it works.

How did you go about transferring the Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 7 64 bit to Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Therein is what I believe is your problem. You in all likelihood do not have a codec problem of any kind, rather Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 8.1 64 bit with disconnect between it source media and the project file. Here is how it goes.
When you import a file into Premiere Elements project, what you have in Premiere Elements is a copy of the original which is still at its hard drive save location. But the project must trace back to that original on its hard drive save location.
You may have the project.prel (project file) opening in Premiere Elements 12 on the second computer, but what I suspect to be the case is that you do not have the project media on that second computer.
If so....On the first computer, archive the project with File Menu/Project Archiver and its Copy Project option. Transfer the resulting saved Copied Folder to a USB Flash Drive which will be used to transfer the Copied Folder to the second computer. In the second computer, open the Copied Folder, right click the project.prel file in the Copied Folder, select Open With, and then Premiere Elements 12.
Did you set up disc menu in the Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 64 bit project?
Please review and consider the above and let us know if any or all of that applies to your situation.
    Thank you.

  • With Premiere elements 11, when Publish/Share (saving) a finished video, selecting H.264  .mov file type, what are the recommended Codec and Aspect settings for a crisp video and a small file size?

With Premiere Elements 11, when Publish/Share (saving) a finished video, selecting H.264  .mov file type, what are the recommended Aspect and Codec settings , for a crisp video with a small file size?

    Gary Krouse
We will customize a very detailed reply, but
    (a) What are the properties of your source media?
    (b) What did you or the program set as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
    (c) What specific requirements do you have for this H.264.mov export file?
File size can be a compromise between bitrate, file size, and quality.
    Thanks.

Peter, Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, you have posted to the Tip & Tricks sub-forum, which is really a repository for, well "tips & tricks." Maybe our MOD, Steve Grisetti, will move this out ot the main, Adobe Premiere Elements forum. That said, Adobe AfterEffects is a stand-alone program, for compositing video. It is not a plug-in, nor does it directly interface with PrE, as it can with Premiere Pro, if purchased in a suite. Still, the work in PrE can go to AE, and the work in AE can come back into PrE, though not in the direct line, that it can with one of the suites with PrPro and AE, via Adobe Dynamic Link (ADL). There are also several 3rd party providers, but one does need to do a bit of looking, on the 3rd party provider's Web site, to see if PrE is supported. Good luck, Hunt

    Hi,
Which operating system are you running on?
What updates are you trying to download?
The last update was 9.0.3 - check by loading the editor and going to Help -> About Photoshop Elements
The last supported Camera raw is ACR 6.5 - check by loading the editor and going to Help -> About Plug-ins -> Camera Raw
Do you have a reason to update?

Install the excellent 'Search Everything' utility and enter 'extreme' as a search term. Note that when you first run 'Everything' it takes time to index your drive(s). After that though it is a nearly instantaneous start.
