What causes my fax to dial out 911 without my doing anything?

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 has dialed 911 twice in the past 6 months without me doing anything other than leaving it plugged into the phone line for faxes. What might be causing this? I did not even use the machine for faxes during that time and the police have knocked on my door stating they received a 911 call from my phone number which is only being used for this fax machine.

This is very unusual. Have you printed out a fax confirmation report to verify that the call was indeed made from the fax machine? Is it possible that a speed dial was setup and accidentially initiated?
You can reset the fax machine to factory defaults which will erase any stored information by touching Settings - Tools - Restore Factory Defaults

It could be that the text is an image.
Try going to Edit>Preferences>Page display>Page content and information and check the box hat says "Display large images".

Fax machine dialing from FXS without 9 in CCME

Hi everyone,
I have a fax machine connected to a FXS port (voice-port 0/1/0). We use the PRI for inbound and outbound calls (voice-port 0/0/0:23). I can currently make calls from the fax through the PRI but I have to dial 9. How can I not force the fax machine to dial 9?

Is this a H323 or MGCP gateway ? If using H323
Use separate dial-peers for dialing from fax machines
dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern [2-9]...... (7 digit dialing in this case)
port 1/0/0:23
Then use COR so that phones wont have access to these dial-peers. Only fax machine ports should.

Is there a way to find out if sync is doing anything?

The sync between my iPad2 (ios5) and iMac (10.7.2) doesn't seem to want to stop (iTunes 10.5 64bit).
The status bar in iTunes says that it is doing step 8 of 8 and that it is waiting for things to be copied.
The iPad is connected via USB to iMac and says that it is in Step 4 of 4. There seems to be connectivity but that is all I can see.
I recently configured the WiFi sync but I do not believe it ever finished an initial sync.
It might just be the case that I am not patient enough, but the situation has been going on for hours.
Is there any way to see what iTunes is actually syncing i.a.w to see if anything is actually going on?

I have the same problem guys but i found half the solution:
It seems you can custom format numbers (many custom formats) in address book on a mac.
Then address book is smart enough to figure out which format to use for which country.
i.e. if you put +44 XXX XXX XXXX for a uk number, then it will automatically format it to THAT format as soon as you enter a number starting with 44. Furthermore, it will automatically update all +44 numbers to that format. You can have as many custom formats
Then have everything synced automatically via icloud.
Though it looks great in Address book,
i still have a problem getting all that nice formatting to show up on the 4s

What activates GPRS on iPhone 4 without me doing anything?

I have been in the UK on a visit for a few weeks on an Orange pay-as-you-go plan and been horrified with lots of little GPRS charges cropping up during the day when I have not been using the phone - no surfing, no emailing. What is responsible for activating the GPRS and costing me money? Orange were no help when I called them and asked.

Hard to say, but remember you're using a phone that by design, is meant to ALWAYS have a data connection. That means that any apps, like push & fetch for mail, newsreaders, facebook, etc., will incur data charges. You can turn data completely off in: Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data>Off.

          WL2, WL3) of weblogic running in one box. When one instance, let say WL1, responds
          to a request(1st request for a session), the session is binded to that instance
          till the session is terminated/expired. Which means succeeding request for that
          session can only be served by WL1(we tried stopping WL1 but WL2 and WL3 wont accept
          the request--which only causes the page to time out). Shouldnt it behave in such
          a way that other instances can get serve the request(failover)?
          Also, occasionally we encounter "Time out server" in one of the instance of WL.
          When this happens, that instance no longer takes in requests. Would anyone know
          what causes "Time out server"? Does it only happen in clustered environment?
          Need some help ASAP.

          What do you have in front of WebLogic for Load Balancing?
          What are the IP addresses/hostnames of your three instances? What hostname are
          you using in your http requests? Is your DNS configured to do failover?
          Make sure that you have session replication turned on. See the edocs.bea.com.

How can I find out what causes a program to NOT RESPONDING status suddenly?

After a very long period of functioning without serious problems a program suddenly doesn't start anymore, showing this funny rotating ball and a message in the Activity Monitor that this program is not responding. I have searched the log files meticulously, hoping to find some clues what caused the stuck, but no chance of course. Is there a more or less "educated way" to find out, what happened and how to prevent it in the future?

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Back up all data before proceeding.

What causes my Nano to loose my work out info when I push pause on earphones? Although I am shoowing previous workout history, using Nike+.

It just happened to my 4GB nano too and I reset it (Menu + Select) a couple of times (okay, about five times or so) with no luck. I hooked it up to a Mac to see if that would do the trick and still the same problem.
Until today, my nano's been running great (it doesn't even scratch easily [I own a black one]) and I have the latest firmware on it too. I'm thinking it must have something to do with my having recently: 1) changed the name of my nano (through iTunes 6.0.1) 2) it's almost filled to capacity (40MB free) with data from iCal, Address Book and iPhoto, 3) I just upgraded to iTunes 6.0.1. [...]
I'll try to connect and sync it to my Mac again tomorrow and if that doesn't do the trick it looks like I'll have to do a restore on my nano.
Oh, and I also tried taking "Music" off of my main menu and putting it back on with no luck. Since this problem is only with the "Music" menu for my nano, if I'm on the road I can always put "Artists" or "Playlists" in my main menu as a temporary fix to get to my music collection.
