What causes published Captivate file to produce several instances of mashed slide images?

I have a new elearning suite license and have created a Captivate 6.1 file that's about 80 slides long and includes several mini-recordings. It looks fine in Preview mode but in Published mode I end up withseveral screens that display images from other screens bleeding through. I've never had this problem before and I don't know what's causing it. the only solution I've found is replacing slides which is not very productive.
Do you know what's causing this problem? It's happening in more than one file and right now I don't trust the tool.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
Please uncheck the 'Advanced project Compression' option from the Project preferences, republish the project and see it resolves the issues or not.
To uncheck 'Advanced project Compression'.
1. Open Preferences dialog.
2. Go to Project>SWF size and Quality
3. Uncheck 'Advanced Project Compression' option.
4. From the publish dialog, Check 'Force re-publish all the slides' option
5. Publish the project
Thanks,
Nimmy Sukumaran.

  • Exit button code not working in published captivate file

    Hi,
I have created a elearning module in captivate 8. I have an exit button at the end of the module. The button has the inbuilt code ''on success - exit''. When I publish this file to swf or AICC format, this exit button doesnot work. Please help!

have you confirmed that this javascript code ( only
javascript code in html, no swf) works?
in some cases the window.close() statement works only for
popup windows. so make sure of it.

  • Flash animation doesn't work when I publish Captivate file

    Hi,
I have an e-learning developed by a third party using Captivate 6, they've inserted animations (swf files) created using Flash CS6. When I try publishing the Captivate file on my computer all the animations work well except for a particular one (a wheel that spins and asks questions).
When I publish the Captivate file and go to that particular slide and click anywhere other than this animation the whole thing freezes (this doesn't happen on other slides with the other animation/quizzes developed using Flash CS6 on the same project). However, when the developer publishes the same file on their machine it works well.
I don't have Flash CS6 installed on my machine (I only have Flash CS4 and can't open the animation/swf files), I asked someone else (that had Flash CS6) to try publishing the Captivate file and had the same issue I had.
Has anyone had this issue before? how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

Since you are loading another SWF file into your main root timeline and want to transfer control to the loaded SWF you need to call _lockroot on the container that holds the loaded content since you are using _root. Like this:
    myMCLMain.loadClip("flashSite.swf", "container2");
container2._lockroot = true; //Add this line after loadClip
Or you can remove the _root in the loaded SWF.

  • What causes blinking ? file folder

My mackbook froze, the pinwheel just kept going. I then powered off and when i turned it back on I got the flashing ? file folder. Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks for any help you can give.

The computer isn't able to locate or mount the hard disk. Restart from a compatible install disk and use the Disk Utility to repair the internal drive if possible. If it doesn't find anything wrong with the drive, reinstall the OS.

  • What causes this? (RGB/8/CMYK) to come up in some images only?

    Hello,
In the title bar of an image, it tells you its color mode and bit mode. Sometimes, the monitor profile shows up as well, in this case CMYK, which is always checked in my machine.
But, if that is the case, what causes some RGB images to show that entire line and what causes it to sometimes just read (RGB/8)?
    thanks
    babs

    Hello, Babs!
You activated proof colors (CMD+Y) for the images with two color modes in their tab.

  • My published captivate file wont play

Hi i created a captivate elearning project and then published it as media here is a few images of the process. i tried playing both the application file and the web file and both failed for some reason, there was a message about the programme missing a key componant, i bleieve it was flash player but i even reinstalled it and it still doesnt work, i could really use a hand thanks

Take a look at some of the troubleshooting suggestions here:

If you are able to create a new blank Captivate project, and publish it without issue, then your current project may contain something that is causing this issue.  Use the suggested process of elimination to simplify your project and isolate the specific slide/s where the issue might be.

  • Why does my published Captivate file show online as "Course Object Title?"

In my company's Moodle online training site, my published Capivate course appears as:
    Captivate E-Learning Course
    Course Object Title
To view the course, users have to click on "Course Object Title."
I can live with the involuntary advertisement for Captivate (sigh), but I'd like the clickable link to be the name of the course.
Can anyone help with this, or is it a Captivate bug?

Under Preferences/Reporting/Scorm 1.2/Configure (Manifest if not in cptx 6)
Another window pops up. The Course Title (Captivate E-Learning Course) is what shows up in the LMS and the SCO title (Course Object Title) is what shows up in the PopUp window (at least in my LMS). So you'll need to changes those to your unique titles. For the SCO title, I typically put an abbreciated version of the course title plus "CLICK HERE" so the user knows they still have something else to click).

  • What causes the full file name to be listed with bookmarks?

Good morning! What drives RH to list the full file name in
bookmark code in some files, and in others its just the
href="#bookmark? If you change the file name...all the bookmark
links with full file names break. Am I doing something wrong when I
created them...? Not sure how that's possible...but something is
driving this! Any helpful hints from the masters online?

    Hi Teri
It's been my experience that if you elect to create a link
from inside the topic to a bookmark, and you choose the bookmark
from the dialog, you end up with a link that simply has the hash
    and the bookmark (#Bookmark).
Where you see the file name preceding the hash and the
bookmark, odds are the link was created by the user clicking the
bookmark in either the Project Manager or the Topic List and
dragging from there to create the link. When links are created in
that fashion (I'm addicted to creating links that way myself - it's
like crack to me - if I knew what that was like LOL) RoboHelp
creates the link with the file name (FileName.htm#Bookmark).
    Cheers... Rick

  • EXE published Captivate File in window 7 throws error message

    Hi Guys,
I have been struggle with this problem for a couple of days.
    My setup:
Window 7 Professional with two account set up.  One is as Adminstrator, and the other one is the standard user account
UAC is turned off so it does not ask me to run the app with adminstrator rights.
My company will not allow flash.  Thats why we have to use the EXE file...
The exe file runs fine under adminstrator account.  But when I try to open it under the standard user account, it gives the following error message.  This message will keep appearing when I click on the exe file.  I am pretty sure the exe is probably trying to access some folder for read/write access and the standard user account is not allowing it to do so.  Any help would be very grateful!

I have been delivering courses in the .exe outputs offline for CD delivery and have had many end users using it on a variety of computers with most people accessing it with non admin rights. Still, no one has complained of similar or any other issue yet. There was an issue with Captivate 4 for which a patch was provided later that used to deal with the fakeflash file somewhere in the captivate folder, and the interesting thing was that the .exe didn't use to work on those computers only that had captivate 4 installed.

  • How can I copy the text on a published captivate file?

I would like my students to use the content on the module by copying the text, how can i achieve it?
    Thank you.
    Weiwei

My understanding is text in a SWF isn't really text any more, from the standpoint of it being mouse-selectable.
If it is very limited instances of needing to copy text, you can use a text entry box and enter the text you want them to copy as the 'default text,' but it is far from being an ideal solution.
There is a Text Area Widget included in Cp5.5 but it seems to be broken.  When I try to type random text in it to test, the text gets garbled with caps/lowers, and some letters don't show up at all when entered.  I typed "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" and it displayed as:  The uiC bron fox umeD oVer the lazy Dog
There is a webpage widget that can embed a PDF or html page which you can to select the text, it might work for what you need but may take more back end work:  http://captivatedev.com/2010/11/05/adobe-captivate-5-web-page-widget/
There maybe other included or availble widgets, I am by far not an expert with them.
    hope that helps.

  • What Causes "No such file..." When There Is A File?

I think I've seen this in the past, but I failed to record the solution. I did a forum search, but didn't turn up anything.
I've seen a couple of programs where, when you're in the folder, and you execute "./programname" Linux says: No such file or directory
And the program files have executable permissions, such as rwx rx rx

Yes, that would certainly fit. I thought I would get some other complaint for that. But I'm delighted to know the exact nature of the problem.
And I'm going to record something about it, so hopefully when it happens after I've forgotten it, I'll see the note.
    Lane
If the program was originally dynamically linked, you'd be seeing 'Wrong ELF class' errors. That makes solving the problem much more simple because error usually points you in the right direction.
The simplest approach to solving this problem is to check the program's site, README file, Arch's AUR, etc, and looking for any dependencies. You won't need much to see it what it wants. For instance, if a site says that you 'only' need the binary and libstdc++5 to run and you're on a 64 bit system, just install lib32-libstdc++5. It may not be enough to make the program work, but the 'Wrong ELF class' errors will appear and point you in the right direction.

  • What causes RAW DNG files not to open in PSE 7?

I installed converter 5.5 but I still cannot get PSE to open DNG file.  The error message is "could not complete the request . . file not a valid photoshop document".  The error message is the same as I got before I installed 5.5 but the converter symbol is adjacent to the DNG photo file so perhaps that install worked if it didn't work before.  I have no problem in opening or re-opening the file in the raw processing software.  The manual says I should be able it open processed files (DNG) in PSE editor.  Where did I go wrong?
    Thank you

You are correct in that ACR 6.4 or later is required to read the Nikon D5100 raw files.
The last ACR that PSE 7 supports is ACR 5.5.
That is what I was afraid of.
    LittlePaleFace wrote:
Adobe does provide the free DNG converter for those who wish to continue to use old versions when they upgrade their camera. Some people actually prefer to do the conversion even if the camera is supported by the version of PSE that they have.
Unfortunately the Adobe DNG throws a message to the effect of "File was unable to be written" on every file, without any further explanation.

  • Published SWF File out of Captivate opens in Browser

I have a SWF created in Captivate. Inside the published
Captivate file is a link to open another SWF file.
The original SWF file opens in Flash Player, but when I
access the button to open the other SWF file, that SWF file opens
    in my browser.
Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

you either didn't clear your cache or you uploaded your html and/or swf to the wrong location.  retry.

  • Help - viewing published captivate 3 projects

Im new to using captivate. ive created a project and
published it as flash (ticking the export to html box). when i view
output it plays the first slide and then two white boxes appear at
the bottom of the slide then it fades to grey and pauses. Any ideas
about why this might be happening? could it be related to active x
    / java?

Hi sjsnovice and welcome to this forum.
What does your source file look like i.e. how many slides are
there and does the output reflect this or not. Assuming that the
output does NOT look like your source file at all, I would suggest
looking at the following 2 things:
Firstly, each slide has its own built in navigation which is
defaulted to "next slide", check that this is the case as a change
here by error could be leading your output in a different path as
to the one you expect. To check, right click on the slide and
select Properties. Your navigation settings are about halfway down
    in the box.
Secondly, the pause could be due to a click box or button
that you have inserted onto a slide and these are defaulted to
pause play until the user interacts. If this is the case, then play
around in the options tab of the properties box for that
    interactive element.
Hope this helps, but if not, please post back and we can
    relook at the whole issue.
    Andrew
