What causes "Windows Live Sign-out isn't complete-Finish signing out"?

When signing out of email at www.hotmail.com, I get the message “Windows Live Sign-out isn’t complete…Finish signing out” instead of the "signout successful" screen. The message suggests deleting all cookies, which I did. Then I deleted firefox 5 and reinstalled firefox 4.0.1.
Same error occurs with firefox 4.0.1.
The error does not occur when I use MS internet explorer to access hotmail.

Fix for Sign-Out Hotmail
= Completely
Vista-Ultimate32-SP2 (x86) [U.S.Version]
No - MSN messenger √
Firefox 11.0 [Windows] √
The Fix: = Firefox must block “All” pop-ups from plug-ins / Flash / images..ie ..!!!!!
Important…!!
Updated Search Engine to “ixquick”.
• Ixquick…..!!!!...
• As of January 28, 2009, Ixquick no longer records users' IP addresses at all. “_https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ixquick_” .
• Believe me when I say once you have gotten ixquick “ set properly” you will kick yourself for putting up with Micro$oft’s ..&&.. Google’s piracy and privacy abuse…!!!
Important…Note***“Completely”…!!!... Delete and removed all references and options of Google/Bing Search engines…
”they are the most radical and intrusive search Plug-ins and softwares to Firefox users and web surfing privacy” …!!!!!!
Reason:..Why..?
When you log-in to hotmail the following harmful cookies (Beacon cookies / Candy cookies), are Automatically created:::
bing.com
google.com
hmit.ww.msn.com
live.com
login.live.com
match.com
msn.com
secure.shared.live.com
www.bing.com
…. If you decide not to follow this Important…Note***… advice and do not care about exposing your Browsing habits and privacy…User Preference…
This fix was done under the Î above Î mention conditions of removing search engines -plug-ins….
With-out the above conditions….?...
This fix is untested and may or may not work to resolve the “sign-out” issue of hotmail.com…?
Step ::
1. Silverlight Plug-In [version; 3.0.50106.0] =Install
• * This is the best M$_compatible version for Firefox {All}
• **Remember to “Prevent” Window’s update {Silverlight}..!!
• *** After Installing > In Firefox/goto ..>>... Addons..>>Plugins/ Silverlight..>>.. =Disable
• Current version is : Silverlight 5 (5.0.61118.0)
Step::::
2. Open Firefox / Install FlashKiller [1.3]
• This is the easiest “least radical and least intrusive” flash blocker available for Firefox
Step::::
3. Set Pref (about:config):
privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins = 3
This pref {Integer} can actually take four values:
• {Integer} 0: Allow ”all” popups from plugins.
• {Integer} 1: Allow popups, “but limit” them to dom.popup_maximum.
 You Must type in: dom.p = dom.popup_maximum
 * Default 20 will sign-out to MSN.com (homepage)
 ** Change to 1 will sign-out = You have successfully signed out of Hotmail (Sign-out page)….
 This is a “ user” preference…
o {Integer} 2: Block popups from plugins.
o {Integer} 3: Block popups from plugins, even on whitelisted sites
Step :::
4. Set Pref. (about:config):
image.animation_mode [string] = none [Default_Normal]
Resart Firefox
Step :::
5. In Firefox.
. Goto ..>>..options..>>Content {Tab}…>>>
Enable JavaScript (√/check)..
Click /Advance (button) …>>..uncheck All… >>>.. click OK…
Step :::
6. Restart Firefox
Step :::
7. Manually Type: hotmail.com {Address bar}
 Uncheck (Clear)…. “Keep me signed in” [box].
 Bookmark this Link: This is a “ user” preference…
Step ::::
8. Log-In (do your thing)
• Note .. Tab activity will look very busy and intermittent for a few seconds = normal
Step :::
9. Sign-out = Complete …”..???..”
• Note: Sign out will redirect you to MSN.com
• Confirm sign out complete and successful…
i. Close tab (MSN.com)
ii. Do not close Firefox
iii. Launch hotmail.com (Bookmark or address bar) again.
iv. If log in windows appears: and ask for:: address and password = This is Confirmation that log out procedure was successful..…..!!!
Important:
Again://// These harmful cookies (Beacon cookies / Candy cookies), are still Automatically created:::
bing.com
google.com
hmit.ww.msn.com
live.com
login.live.com
match.com
msn.com
secure.shared.live.com
www.bing.com
These cookies will “still” be automatically created,,,, “but” ,,, “NOW” have no affect on Firefox browser..!!
…. “Do Not”….
Do not …add these cookies to your exceptions list..
This is no longer a necessary procedure…..!!!!!....
And these cookies can be cleaned out = “still” be automatically created and does not have any affect to your daily / log-in and sign-out of hotmail…!!!!
Use Ccleaner for “maintenance” of Firefox & M$ windows.. and..to remove OS junk and to eliminate these harmful cookies…
Or clear your firefox history (periodically)…
If Neceessary..>>>
Step :::
10. Disable web site ad banners…:
Use Firefox Add-on / Stylish 1.2.6
or manually create or /edit userstyle (.css) file in “your” Profile Folder:
..>>>.. Create with Stylish (add-on) = Best option for “ all “ userstyle configurations..!!!
(found by ixquick search and _ created_ with Stylish ):

  • Windows Live ID password isn't correct

    I keep having this issue happen to me, under Settings/ Email + Accounts/ Windows Live ID  I keep getting a message that my password is not correct. I have had the same password for my Windows live account for 4 years now along with the gamer tag tied to it. I don't get why my password is wrong.
    I can log onto Xbox.com just fine with it, I can recover my gamer tag with my password, and yet my phone won't accept it.
    Any solutions out there?

    Hello Chocomage77
    Having password issues can be very irritating. I would be glad to help. Is this the only Live account on the device? Did this start after a particular application was downloaded? If so please remove the application and retest.
    Have you accessed your email on a PC or laptop with that password? Please login and verify your contacts are backed up. If you can access the account, please perform a hard reset on the device. Here are the steps for the reset:
    From the main start screen, tap & slide the screen left
    Scroll to and tap Settings
    Scroll to and tap About
    Tap "Reset Your Phone"
    After the reset please set up the device with the Live email and retest.
    Please let me know if this helps.
    Thank you

  • Firefox 7.0.1 causes windows live mail to report problem when link is clicked

    When Firefox 7.0.1 is not open and a link in an email is selected (Windows Live Mail), mail reports an error "there was a problem sending the command to the program". The requested website does load after this with no problems. This same error has been previously reported with Firefox 4, however I have only recently had the problem.

    Solved (for me). The problem was Roboform 7.5.5. When they updated Roboform to 7.5.6, the issue with Firefox 7 was resolved. Note that the problem did not occur with any other browsers before, and now it is fixed in Firefox 7.

  • Windows Live ID Web Authentication without consent page

    I'm using windows live authentication in an ASP.net MVC website. When a new user signs in using the windows live sign in for the first time they are taken to a consent page. This page asks the user if they would like to give the site access to their profile
    and contacts list. If they say yes they are then taken to my homepage. However if they say no then they are still taken to the homepage but the sign in fails.
    My goal here is to remove the consent page and not allow my site access to any of the user's profile information, but still have a successful sign in. All I need is the unique ID returned for each user. I'm aware that there is a scope variable that can be
    set to change how much information the user is being asked to give access to. I'm not sure how to set this scope to zero or remove it entirely. It seems like scope = wl.signin is the lowest form of access?
    Is there a way to use windows live authentication without bringing the user to the consent page at any point in time? Or is this not possible?

    I've bumped up the timeout, which was originally at the default of 5 minutes, but not to the point where it would cover an entire workday. We do have some users who expect to connect once and then be done even if the next time they use it may be hours later. I'm being asked if there is a method that will allow for an authentication mechanism without the need for a username/password (or certificate, or MAC filtering, etc...). My first thought was that really isn't possible, but thought I would check here to see if anyone had other ideas.
    Thanks,
    Ken

  • Cannot install Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant.

    Well, I am having some issues installing "Windows Live Essentials" update and "Games for Windows Marketplace". I have found that the cause of this is from "Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant", (wllogin_64.msi) which I am unable to install.
    Things I have tried:
    Removed every live related application with the windows cleanup tool.
    Tried to install wllogin_64.msi as administrator.
    Tried to install wllogin_64.msi in safe mode.
    Restored from an earlier system point.
    Ran chkdsk.
    Ran a virus and spyware scan.

    I would really like some help on this one, I have games that I bought through the marketplace and I can't access them without this sign-in assistant.

    Hi, I'm having the same issue as the OP. I just recently got Resident Evil 5 for PC. I've had it like a month and I can't get it to work. At first I tried it on my desktop, which runs on XP, and I found out part of my issue was the fact that some of my parts
    are out of date. However, I could never get Games For Windows Live to work because it would never connect to download my profile because of a "network error". I later found out that there's something called hotfix.exe that you need to have to get it to work.
    I looked THIS up and found it on the Microsoft website and then found out, thankfully, before I ran it that someone else had been having the same issue as me with Left 4 Dead, and when they installed hot fix it crashed their computer, and they no longer have
    an operating system.
    So I did NOT run hotfix.exe on my desktop. I have been since waiting to get my laptop back to install it. It runs on Windows 7, and is considerably newer. Now, I have sat here for 7 hours waiting for RE5 to install. It installed, finally and brought up the
    game screen. I went to sign into GFWL, and it worked! However, it also said that there an "update" that needed to be completed and gave me
    bullshit saying that if I didn't do it, it would sign me out. (This is also the same message it has been giving me whenever I try to sign into Messenger. It should also be noted that as well as with messenger, it won't fucking install.)
    So, anyway, I downloaded and installed the update. It closed out the game, started it back up and I went through the same process again. I downloaded this mysterious update THREE times. Finally, I restarted my computer. I went back into the game and was
    met with the same message again. This time I closed it out and went to run Games For Windows Live to see if maybe I could find a list of needed updates and do them all at once. It told me I needed the sign-in assistant to run it so I went to download that.
    Like OP, I'm being met with the same issue. It just goes through the process every time and always closes out because of some "error". On top of this, now I can't even get Resident Evil 5 to start. It keeps giving me yet ANOTHER "error" message. I don't
    know what to do next aside from un-install it and try again, but I sat here for
    six fucking hours waiting on it to install the FIRST time. This is also the third computer I have sat and waited to try and install this game on. I am at a total loss, and I'm very, very angry. If I may rant for a second:
    What the fuck are all these mysterious "errors" I keep having on a new computer that's running perfectly, and why the fuck don't they explain what the goddamn error is so I can fix it? (In hindsight, that might be in the logs but I've been to angry to look
    into them.)
    And also, in my searching for fixes for this problem, I've come across posts from 2008 and 2009 of people having
    the same issues. Explain to me why the it's 2011 and it's STILL not fixed?
    I am not happy with Microsoft right now, at all. I think it's bullshit you have to even sign up for an account to even save the info. None of the many other games I play do that. And how are we supposed to be able to play the goddamn games if Games For Windows
    Live is glitched? I've never done anything with GFWL before this so I didn't know it was having these issues. Do I need to search EVERY aspect of a game AND it's software AND the people that made it available to make sure I can play it now?
    Is spending 2 thousand dollars on computers from Microsoft and another 30 on a game not enough of a payment to be able to
    play the fucking game?

  • How can I find out what causes a program to NOT RESPONDING status suddenly?

    After a very long period of functioning without serious problems a program suddenly doesn't start anymore, showing this funny rotating ball and a message in the Activity Monitor that this program is not responding. I have searched the log files meticulously, hoping to find some clues what caused the stuck, but no chance of course. Is there a more or less "educated way" to find out, what happened and how to prevent it in the future?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
    Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
    You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    resetp
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
    Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • MSI Live Update Installation Causes Windows XP To CRASH!!

    I have a MSI K9VGM-V (MS-7253). Product specs are here: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K9VGM-V
    I have attempted to obtain my updates for my drivers and utilities. MSI uses the Live Update to detect and suggest these for your system. However, I cannot get the software to install to my PC. I have tried to do in through the website AND by downloading it and running it off the hard drive. Each time it gets into the install process and during it - (Boom) - My PC Reboots. When Windows XP (Home Edition) boots up, it says "Windows has just recovered from a serious error." It goes through the reporting to Microsoft process and takes you to their website where it says "You have received a blue screen error. Unfortunatly we were unable to detect what caused this." Then goes on to suggest to restore your files or restore to an earlier state if your system has become unstable (blah blah). Now I really didn't ACTAULLY see a blue screen, the PC just rebooted. I am aware of the blue screen of death and all that. I understand the concept. But I don't know what could be wrong. My system is very basic with little upgrading from me. I have installed all the Windows Critical Updates, so I am now running Windows Service Pack 3. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I tell you that.
    NOTE: And the following might not have anything to do with my problem but I noticed on MSI's web site, located at this URL: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=utility&maincat_no=1&prod_no=260
    they say give a warning about MSI Live Update when installing it to my PC/Board. Look under the MSI Live Update Utility at the "Notes." It says:
    "For K9VGM-V (MS-7253) mainboard, please do not select the DMI optopn.
    Now I don't know what DMI means except maybe "Definition Multimedia Interface." And I don't get the chance to select any option during the process. If I do, the process hasn't made it that far before my PC crashes, and re-boots. Please, anybody got anything on this? Thank you.

    Thank you so much. I just want to say I really appreciate when people do take the time to post me in return. So I really mean it, Thank You.
    A quick question. You see, I have been upgrading my computer. I installed a Belkin USB USB Card (high speed 2.0) cause I needed more USB ports. Then I checked for compatable RAM and upgraded my RAM from 512MB to 2Gigs. Everything alright.
    Now, I have checked for processors that are compatable with my board K9VGM-V (MS-7253). And MSI's chart says mine is compatable with the AMD Athlon 2x 6000 (3.0Ghz) *IF* I use the 89 watt and not the 125 watt. Here is a good URL for the processor details I found:
    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%20X2%206000+%20-%20ADA6000IAA6CZ%20(ADA6000CZBOX).html
    Now do you have any tips and I will probably have to flash to BIOS for sure after this upgrade won't I?

  • Windows Live Mail 2012 - Outgoing Email Times Out due to Lost Server Connection

    Using Windows Live Mail 2012 on WIN7 64-bit.
    Been receiving emails seemingly without issues, but...
    Haven't been able to POST any outgoing emails now since September 16th for any of my main/sub accounts.
    Indicator is a Norton Internet Security popup stating:
    "Email Error. Your email message was unable to be sent because the connection to your email server was interrupted. Please open your email client and resend the message from the Sent Messages folder." Then it lists the from/to/subj.
    I recompose and try to resend; same results.
    I've rolled WIN7 back to September 6th, but results are the same.
    I thought perhaps NIS was blocking the SMTP port, but same results when I turn off NIS and Antivirus. I don't see anything of significance in NIS's logs.
    Of course, Verizon's mini-app that sniffs out and corrects email problems does not know or care about Live Mail. Just Outlook and OE.
    Ideas? Things to try? Thanks.

    The server setting I have for my POP3 is "incoming.verizon.net" (not pop.verizon.net) and my SMTP server setting is "outgoing.verizon.net" (not smtp.verizon.net).
    Why don't these match?
    Also, my port settings don't seem to match what's posted online.
    My outbound port is 25 (not 465) and my inbound port is 110 (not 995).
    Doesn't seem right to me, and I'm wondering what changed in the past week?
    The changes to pop/smtp from incoming/outgoing have been in the works for a while. Maybe Verizon finally go around to disabling the old servers?
    Either way, you should update to the latest settings.
    For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
    The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
    Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
    Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
    If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal
