What changed in 10.4+ regarding cups

I have linux Cups printing server and what once was
easy setup for user to connect to server and print now
seems to crash OS X ( OS X 10.4.8 intel happen when user tried to add printer manually after ServerName directive in /etc/cups/client.conf and the hostname was added to /etc/hosts ) and user are experience all kinds of performance problems
When I wrote the script for both Mac OS and Linux user
( which does nothing else than adding IP and hostname of the
cups printing server to /etc/hosts and add the servername to /etc/cups/client.conf ) I think the latest version add the time when I wrote the script was 10.4.2 or 10.4.3 so something after that broke cups ( All the users that complain so far have been using 10.4.8 )
Maybe I need to change how I setup the connection to the remote Cups Server to match ? no problem if some one gives me a clue of whats going on in the Mac OS X ( One whould think Cups to Cups shouldnt be a problem )
Linux seems not to be affecte (works fine with the latest Ubuntu and FC ) so one can rule out the server it self, unless it needs some specific tuning for some version of Mac OS X and not others...
I need to know if this is a bug, if apple is working for a fix regarding this and if this will still be a problem in Leopard...
Has no one else expirence wierd behavior problems that can be traced to cups in Mac OS X ????

  • What Changes is Reqd in Int. Process to proces Multiple record by  1..1 RFC

    HI Sdner,
File -  ECC - RFC (Sync) - Currently File / But This can be Other System also.
I have Done this By BPM .
File  - Receiver Step - Sender Step (Sync) - Sender Step - File .
and this is running fine for single record.
But Now Problem is RFC is with 1..1 Occurence .. So it cannot take more then 1 record ... so on Receiver I am getting only response record in Response File.
What Changes is Reqd in Integration Process to process Multiple record by  RFC of 1..1 Occurence type.
or what is the approach ..................for ID and Inetegration Process in ESR.
I know we can go with Other Approach Like Proxy and Module Proccer .. But I am following Strictly BPM approach ...
Because We have Similar More Scenarios ..even More Complex ..
    Regards
    Prabhat Sharma,

    HI nagarjuna,
    italics
you want a solution with current scenario, you can try this-
Go to messages tab and change the occurance to 0..unbounded for RFC in file-RFC mapping. Now you have 1:n mapping.
The RFC root tag has to be mapped with record set of your file structure. Now the n RFC calls will be generated on executing this mapping.
In your BPM part make the following changes-
Add one more send step after the receive step and call the 1:n mapping transformation.
The sync send step should be placed in a 'ForEach' block.
So for each record in file a sync RFC call will be executed and the file is appended with respose code everytime.

If you can explain this some more ...
Or If you can  provide me some Blog .... or screen shot of Integration Process/ Service Interface / Receiver Determination / Interface Determination..
    That would be helpful.

  • What changes does the Debian AIR installer make to a Linux system?

We develop finance software using Adobe AIR.  One of our customers recently posted on our forums asking me about the Debian installer package.  In particular, he has this to say:
I was dismayed to see that the AIR installer issued a warning concerning an executable it uses which makes changes to critical system components, but that no information whatsoever was offered about just what those changes were. At the termination of the installation routine I clicked the gdebi details button to see the changes, and gdebi told me that there was an error in retrieving the information. If I'm not mistaken that means that Adobe is deliberately blocking the notification of the system about changes made by the installer. I've used gdebi for installation of many .deb packages before on systems I maintain at work, and I've never seen this error.
I'd really appreciate it if the developers of YNAB could make available the information about changes made to the system by both the AIR installer and the installation process for YNAB3.
Could someone from Adobe give me a hand with this?  I am not familiar enough with Debian packages to know why gdebi can't report on the behavior of this particular package.  I'm hoping that there is a way to easily answer this question and tell him what changes are made to his system during install of both AIR and an AIR product.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

What distribution/version are you running on?
Could you please specify the steps that you performed for installing the YNAB application and AIR runtime?
If you could also attach screenshot of the dialog that you see during the installation of AIR runtime and/or AIR application, that would also help in analyzing the problem.
Regarding your query for the actions performed during the installation of AIR runtime rpm/deb package:
    1. AIR runtime registers .air extension on your system i.e. installs icons/mimetype for .air extension.
    2. Sets itself as the default application for .air extension.
    2. Updates the system's icon/mimetype cache for changes to be reflected.
AIR runtime package conforms to the debian packaging guidelines and doesn't hides anything from the user in the process of installation of runtime or application.
You can look at the following installation scripts on your system (debian system) after AIR runtime installation:
    /var/lib/dpkg/info/adobeair.postinst
    /var/lib/dpkg/info/adobeair.prerm
    Hope it answers your query.

  • What changed with sleep between 10.8 and 10.9?

Prior to Mavericks, sleep mode made sense to me. Hit the button and my iMac went to sleep almost right away. Hit the button again or hit a key on my keyboard and it would wake up almost right away, too. In between those two events, the machine would stay asleep.
WIth Mavericks, sleep seems to me to be baffling, random, and inscrutable. I cannot make any sense of how it works. The button puts the machine to sleep only if you're logged in. At the login screen you can only click on "Sleep" with the mouse. When you put the machine to sleep it can take several seconds, sometimes almost a minute, before it actually goes to sleep. (It also takes mystifyingly long for logout to complete.) Once the machine is asleep, it can wake up again without me doing anything, sometimes after after only a couple of seconds, other times sometime overnight.
I have searched around for what is going on, and most of the information I find talks about the reasons why OS X might wake up. That is not my question. My question is: What changed between 10.8 and 10.9 with regard to sleep? I didn't change any settings at all when I upgraded from 10.8 to 10.9, so why did the behavior change (and for the worse, I might add)? Why do I need to go review the half dozen or so settings that are possible causes for spontaneous wake? I had them set the way I like in 10.8. Is there official Apple documentation about how sleep is supposed to behave in Mavericks?
Thank you for any help you can give me.

This is always due to a process keeping the system awake, but determining which is the challenge.
A first simple step is to create a new, temporary user account. Log out of yours and log into the temporary one. Determine if it sleeps then. If it does then you have a login item that is preventing sleep. System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items.
Whenever you suspect a problem related to power, including sleep, an SMC reset is also recommended.
Active Spotlight indexing will prevent sleep. Wait for it to complete.
Check your Sharing preferences for anything that could permit an active network connection.
Energy Saver "Wake for network access" can prevent sleep, but unchecking it will prevent the ability to remotely access a sleeping Mac over a network.
A normally functioning Mac will sleep according to Energy Saver, but will wake periodically for network access, after which it will return to sleep according to the settings in Energy Saver.
Check Energy Saver > Power Nap. Whatever its setting happens to be, change it. Power Nap itself does not prevent sleep, but a corrupted Power Nap setting might. Changing its setting might correct it.
Unfinished print jobs will prevent sleep. If a print job is queued, but if the printer is off or the connection to it is lost, the Mac will stay awake forever waiting for the printer to return.
Safari pages that periodically refresh themselves are very common. This will prevent sleep.
Frequently checking for new mail may prevent sleep. Change Mail's preferences to check for new mail less frequently.
iTunes and iPhoto sharing will prevent sleep.
Active Bluetooth devices will prevent sleep.
Active USB or Thunderbolt devices will prevent sleep. Disconnect them to help isolate the cause.
Using Time Machine over a network may prevent sleep. Time Machine using a Time Capsule will not.
There are plenty of third party utilities designed to prevent sleep. One may not have been completely uninstalled.
Quit the process with the name powerd in Activity Monitor. It will re-launch on its own.
Any number of "anti-virus" utilities can prevent sleep, along with other miseries. Get rid of them.
... Is there official Apple documentation about how sleep is supposed to behave in Mavericks?
Read Mac OS X: Why your Mac might not sleep or stay in sleep mode

  • Here's what changed in the 'Apple Support Communities Use Agreement'

The terms for this website were revised 24 April 2014; they were previously revised 7 May 2013; they were previously revised 6 April 2011.
If you'd like to know exactly what changed, see this 'diff', which shows exactly what changed.
Basically, Apple just added this (as points 12 and 13 to the 'General' section :

Thanks; I may be wrong of course, but I thought para. 12 was there all along and only 13 was added (which, FWIW, is an excellent idea in my humble opinion). Also, the ToU are available by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page here.

  • What Changes to Software Update Group Causes Clients to Re-check Compliance

    Hello,
I have a number of software update groups that have been deployed over the past couple of years. When Microsoft release new updates etc. some of the updates already deployed change their status e.g. an update might get marked as expired. As a result of this
I can go from having clients reporting as being compliant to a situation where they are in an unknown state until they report back again.
Does anyone know what changes to an update already deployed would cause clients to have to check their compliance status for that software update group?
    Thank you.
    Stephen

If you are referring to the enforcement state, this is indeed specific to the deployment, not the group itself.
With regards to your question - Upon a change to your deployment, your clients will receive updated policy.  On a successful evaluation of the deployment, it will re-send a state message if necessary.  Unfortunately I do not know if there are certain
things that do not trigger a policy update (i.e. change in the name or description vs. update membership or deadline change)

  • What changes are required for OSS note 456507

    Hi All,
PLease advise me what changes are required for OSS note 456507 (Assign the function groups QOWK or ORFC in the authorization object S_RFC to tRFC/qRFC users).
I’m thinking of just going with the following additions to Role
AAAB – Cross Application Auth Objects
    S_RFC
    Activity – 16
    Name of RFC - *
    Type of RFC - *
But wanted to check what the implications of doing such a thing were, are there any negative points that you can think of opening up the access as above, as opposed to what was suggested in the OSS note?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Sandhya.

    Hello Sandhya,
S_RFC is needed in case of making any RFC calls.
Normally it is needed  for users that are mentioned in RFC destinations.
As such mostly these users are system/communication users or super users.
Without giving access to function groups through S_RFC successful RFC call can´not be done.
Now the value of field name of RFC can be * but only for those users which are really global super users. In case you need this authorization for any selective functionality as in you case only for function groups QOWK or ORFC then you should try to  restrict the access. Negatiity is only that in case of * the authorization access increases but for system or super users you dont need to worry too much really because with system/communication users no one can login and the super users will have sap_all generally. Also their passwords will be a well kept secret so that a miususe can not be made.
By global super users I mean users which are used for various types of activites.
    Please award points accordingly.
    Regards.
    Ruchit.

  • What changes to be done when environment is changed for existing code?

    Hi All,
I am a starter and had developed integrations in dev environment where SAP used to send and recieve files in PI7.1
Before me doing the task, the source and target systems were registered.
The SAP environment was PID and when we moved to test env it used to be PIT.
Now PID and PIT env no longer exist and the envs are PI1 in dev and PI2 in test.
What are the changes that needs to be carried out for the existing development.
Please guide me and also if those changes needs to be done only from PI7.1 developer side or BASIS side.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kevin,
    From Developer side:
You may need to import the new business systems into Directory and needs to do all the configuration where ever you used your previous business systems. The whole configuratios needs to be changed for all the interfaces like sender and reciver agreements, reciver and interface determinations. But you can copy the communicaiton channels to your new one. And dont delete anything in DEV until unless you move your new changes to QA and working as expected. If there are any lookups in Mapping please check whether any hardcoding is done in mapping or not. (You should have not done it, but still a check).
    From Basis side:
Your transport targets needs to be changed in SLD.
    Regards,
    ---Satish

when saving a file in [.jpg] format, i am asked to choose a quality from 1 to 100. what changes in the file created based on the quality parameter chosen?. i would like to know what changes, so in the future i can set my camera to a setting that will give me the highest quality to begin with, allowing me to make crops and still preserve the quality.
    thank you
    dovid

It's the level of compression. Lower number, more aggressive compression, more visual artifacts.
Aside from that you should never use jpeg as a working format. The compression is destructive and cumulative, and the file deteriorates every time you resave it.
Use TIFF or PSD, and if you need jpeg save out a copy as a single final step.

The question apparently needs to be typed in twice...  good work.  Here it is again:
I cannot install iTunes updates as of today.  Does anyone have any idea what changed with iTunes?

Is this a distinct issue from the 42404?
If so, are you getting an error message when you try to install iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • I can no longer send or respond to email from my Firefox browser. I closed and sent from Internet explorer and it works fine. What changed? The only thing different this morning, I downloaded Adobe uprade?

    Question
I can no longer send or respond to email from my Firefox browser. I closed and sent from Internet explorer and it works fine. What changed? The only thing different this morning, I downloaded Adobe uprade?

I had this hotmail issue myself a while back. I Googled, scanned MS website, scanned MSN website, visited forums, couldn't figure it out. I tried Firefox and Opera and even changed the Opera mask setting from Opera to Internet Explorer. Nothing worked. My best guess was that I was signing on (with the new MSN Live as opposed to MSN Hotmail - the OLD interface) with the "Remember me on this computer?" box checked. I now make sure it is un-checked (which is not the default) and hotmail lets me in.
Not exactly sure if that is the real remedy, but thot I'd throw the story your way just in case...

  • I used to be able to drag a photo out of say, a Facebook page or iPhoto and put it in a folder. this stopped working, what changed?

Running an iMac with OSX 10.9
The other day I was dragging photo's out of iPhoto into a specific folder that I was going to then upload to Shutterfly.  It was working ok then it stopped, and I could no longer drag photo's into any folder I wasnted.  I also used to be able to pull photo's from facebook to my desktop but this is no longer the case either.  (Could be a FB setting)   What changed on my iMac?
If you have the answer please post for me to make the proper changes in my settings.
      Thank you .
    Jim

I'm sure a setting got changed.   It still does not work for me.  So what I've resorted to was copy/paste. but that's not the ideal way to do it.  If you know the proper settings let me know.
    Thanks.
