Apologies for any confusion we may have caused.
Currently, the DTAs (small boxes) are limited to viewing (up to and including) Digital Starter content.
Our DTAs don't yet support full strength encryption like full cable boxes do. Full-strength encryption is currently required for authorizing premium channels (like HBO) on a DTA.
DTAs that we have deployed support "privacy mode". This is a limited fixed passkey form of content protection.
We have no current plans to activate full-strength encryption, but if we were to do that in the future it would be done in a way that would be in compliance with FCC rules, including obtaining any necessary FCC waivers.
Some additional background at the link below (the article is from 2012 but still a good primer):

We can certainly arrange to swap your DTA for a full cable box. Please give us a call at 1-800-COMCAST or stop by one of the the local service centers below to swap your box.

  • What Channel (Other Then Movie Channels) Come with The Fully Loaded Entertainment Package?

I currently have Verizon FiOS Prime TV (now known as preferred) along with 75/75 internet with the fully loaded entertainment package. I receive many channels in my package that are not listed under the Prime package. These include NFL Network, GSN, Nat Geo, OWN, NBA TV, Golf Channel, FXX, and Destination Network. Each of these channels are listed individually under "My Current Plan Details" under the My FiOS TV Plan section of the website. I believe the reason I receive these is because I subscribe to the fully loaded entertainment package. Could anyone confirm that these channels come with the fully loaded entertainment package when you are subscribed to the preferred package as well? These are not advertised as being included with the package, but that is the only thing I can think of why they would be included in my channel line up. Thanks!

Technically, none of those are my package. I have FiOS Prime which is no longer available. However, it is exactly the same as FIOS Preferred aside from 1-2 channel differences.
I have not heard of those stations being included w/ the fully loaded entertainment package either. I have searched other forums with this questions and it seems like others are also given these extra channels as long as they have the Fully Loaded Entertainment package on their bill. Like I said, each of those channels is actually listed out on my account separately. I guess I could cancel the fully loaded package and then add it again to see if they disappear/reappear. Not sure I want to take that chance though.
As for it being a fluke, it doubt that. I've been a FiOS customer for 6 years and I've had the channels listed this way for the past 2. The reason I am asking about it now is because the "New Customer" deals are so much better then what I am getting, I am thinking of cancelling for a bit and then renewing, but I want to see which package I would need to order.

I could not get Best Buy's link to work, but Besy Buy sells them also. It is not hard to find it - go to Best Buy's website, on the side go to Audio and MP3, then go to Ipod and MP3 players, and search all of them, find it, and click on it, scroll down to the tabs with different information on them, click "specifications", and scroll to see what comes with it.
These are only a few of the stores you can get them from and the most popular stores I could think of.
    Hope I helped!

Basic stuff like Mail, Safari, YouTube, Photos, iBooks, iPod etc. No games.
Downloading free and cheap apps is easy and is how you customize it for your own use. I don't know what the typical iPad is, but there are people with over 100 apps. I've got a bunch of news stuff, weather, sports, book apps, and some other things. Probably 40 apps give or take.
I think the basic iPad is described here:

Since you are referring to an iPod, post in the iPod forum here.

  • What software comes with the iMac ??

was going thru the ordering online screen and I can't find what software comes already loaded. Can someone point me to a link or give me a list?
I have heard that Apple offers something besides appleworks for wordprocessing? Is that true. I've never used anything but Apple word processing. Is MSWord offered now?
    thx - Craig

    Hi.
This is the iMac (Flat Panel) forum for G4 iMacs but I'm assuming that you will be purchasing a brand new Intel iMac so will provide details for those instead.
The following list is taken from this page (link)
Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger (includes Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat AV, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Xcode Developer Tools)
iLife ’06 (includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand),
Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive*,
    iWork (30-day trial)*,
    Big Bang Board Games,
    Comic Life,
    Omni Outliner,
    Apple Hardware Test
    Front Row
    Photo Booth
    * despite Apple's TV Adverts both Microsoft Office and iWorks are both limited time trials. AppleWorks is still available for sale separately but is not optimized for Intel processors so has a limited life span. Therefore a proper word processor is no longer bundled with the iMac at all. Only the very basic TextEdit will allow you to type letters etc. You'll have to pay extra if you want more; so you could buy Word or Pages. Personally I'd recommend NeoOffice (link) which is a free download and unlike Microsoft Office is Intel native and compatible with Office2007.
    Hope that helps.

    Hello and welcome,
I haven't ordered (or seen...) one of those, but the svbook says 4 slots, 1 DIMM installed - the way I read it.  Have a look for your machine type:  http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/svbook.pdf
    1105-B2U Core i3-3220 1333MHz 1x4GB No 2xDirect Cable 3.5" No DVD Intel HD No 280W 09/25/12
    32GB max, UDIMM, PC3-10600 1333MHz DDR3, ECC, four 240-pin DIMM sockets
Maybe that gives you a place to start.

  • What discs come with the current (Santa Rosa) macbook pros?

I own a Rev1 Macbook Pro (but that's not really important). I convinced my friend to get a new Macbook Pro. She loves it. But she did something somewhat silly. She asked me what the discs were for that were included in her box and I told her they are only to reinstall the included software. Anyway, she was looking for Comic Life and she concluded it must be on the cds, so she ended up reinstalling Mac OS X! But now the installer is asking for Disc 2 which she can't seem to find...
Now it was my understanding that the OS came on 1 dvd, not two. There are additional parts on another disc for things like Xcode and whatnot, but the main installer should only need 1 disc, correct? Does anyone happen to recall where the second disc is found? I seem to believe it's actually in the same sleve as disc one but she says it isn't.
So yeah maybe the packaging has changed or maybe my memory isn't that great. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I own a Rev1 Macbook Pro *but that's not really important*.
It may be important, if she asks to borrow your DVDs. The OS X Install DVDs for the Intel Macs are machine- and build-specific. So your Install DVDs for a pre-Santa Rosa MBP will most likely not work on an SR machine.
However, if she's missing disc(s) she can call AppleCare and they will send her replacement(s) for a nominal charge (something like $30, I think).
You might also point her to this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301229
which describes how to do a custom installation. For apps, etc., not listed there, she could use Pacifist:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
to extract them from the Install DVDs.
    Hope this helps...
Ps. the iLife suite that was pre-installed on the Mac is located on Install DVD 2.
