What codec for MP4 file

I downloaded a MP4 file from a website. Under easy setup what codec should I select in order to edit in FCE

FCE 4.1 can only edit DV, HDV and AVCHD properly.
Your only hope is to drop the file on the timeline whereupon you will probably get a warning message saying it does not match your sequence settings and offering to change them.
Click "Yes" and maybe it will work.

I guess you are calling BDC right after some event which is locking the data or before the commit of previous data could happen. Sometimes data update needs time. You can try using WAIT statement right before it and wait for 1 or 2 seconds and see if it works.
If it does, I would recommend you to check the lock on the corresponding object and when lock is removed update the data as waiting for 2 seconds for a larger set of data will just make the program a bit slow. Depends on the amount of data though, if it is just one set of transaction, you may use WAIT for 2 seconds.

  • Where can I get codec for ISO files?

Where can I get codec for ISO files?Premiere Elements

An ISO is actually not a video file, it is a container... somewhat like a ZIP file that contains other files
I do not know if it will PLAY what is inside an ISO, but I use Imgburn to write an ISO to DVD
Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1322583 for notes on installing Imgburn WITHOUT any toolbar add-ons... Set Imgburn to use the slowest burn speed your drive and media will use... I set my burn speed to 1x and let Imgburn adjust to the actual minimum

  • Thumbnail images for MP4 files vanished again - how can they be restored?

My thumbnail images for MP4 files have vanished again and could you tell me how to resttore them please? I am running Windows 8.1 and IE11 Browser and use the Real Player to play these files. When I run a flash test it says one minute it is not installed in the browser and the next test confirms that it is installed. Is this a known problem with Windows and can it be fixed by adjusting a setting somewhere. Thanks for your help.

Enable Compatibility View for IE: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11 and the plugin will be recognized.

  • API to access and set properties for MP4 files

I am looking for some APIs in Visual C++ to use in Visual Studio to set
and get properties for .mp4 files. Can anyone help me in this regard?

    Hi Rahul,
Try using the Windows Media Format SDK with help from the below document:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tims/archive/2004/03/28/extracting-metadata-from-windows-media-files.aspx
Alternatively, you can give a try to ffmpeg libraries for a open source alternative.

  • ** URGENT: ** MEDIA IS OFFLINE for Mp4 files after updating Premiere Pro CC to 8.1

    Hi there,
I upgraded recently to Premiere pro CC 2014 and I am working on a project that is already late.
I was having some small issues then I thought that after upgrading to latest version everything would be fine.
I just started Premiere and opened my project and had an error message, just like this guy
Premiere Pro CC 2014 seems to  Corrupt projects created with earlier versions
Then I deleted the preference files and the project could be opened again.
But the MP4 files haven't opened and has the imagem MEDIA OFFLINE
(and I have LOTS of MP4 files that were working absolutely fine before)
I tried to make links again but it didn´t worked.
I tried to drag and drop MP4 files it didn´t worked too. (unsuported media file)
I renamed the folder ADOBE from \user\appdata\local and roaming  twice.
I tried to start with SHIFT ALT to delete preferences againa - didn´t worked too.
    I tried to reinstall Quicktime.
I tried to reinstall K-Lite codec pack.
I REALLY need your help before formating and starting everything from scratch.
    Thanks and best regards.

So if you got here looking for an answer, this is what worked for me:
(se você quer uma resposta em portugues me avise)
    - Exit all adobe software (including Cloud)
    - Delete preference folder (adobe) in my documents.
    - Rename Adobe folder from \userfolder\appdata\roaming and \userfolder\appdata\local to old.adobe
    - Uninstall any codec package that you might have installed
    - Uninstall Premiere via add/remove programs
    - Look for *.xmp files and remove all
    - Remove rendered files too from your project folder.
    - Restart computer
    - Use a Registry utility to clean up your computer from traces (I use Glary Utilities)
    - Install Premiere Pro CC
    - Restart computer
    - Install Quicktime 7
    - Restart computer
    - Everything should be fine by now.
    =)
    Good luck!

  • Black Thumbnails for MP4 files in iPhoto

The MP4 files from my digital camera show up as black icons in iPhoto 09. I don't recall this happening before Snow Leopard was installed. Some MP4 files work show thumbnails. Regardless, all the MP4 files DO open via iPhoto, and the thumbnails can be seen in the Finder.
These files are MPEG4 h.264/AAC codec. If I run these files through MPEG Streamclip to remake them as the same file type, then the thumbnails DO appear in iphoto when reimported. Comparing the "get info" data on both types of the files (ones with black thumbs and ones with real thumbs) shows no difference in file types.
Short of having to convert all my small videos and reimporting them, or getting another camera who's MPEG4 is consistent with iPhoto, I'm at a loss. I have done a rather complete internet search and several others report a similar problem. The camera I am using is Samsung TL34HD.
Appreciate any help short of what I am currently doing (converting to the same file format and reimporting the videos in batches).

thanks larry. when i open in quicktime and go to the first frame, it is not black. also, for some reason, when i import the movies into itunes, the thumbnails show up fine (i.e. no black frame). i'm guessing that it has something to do with how iPhoto generates the thumbnail (vs. iTunes), but i don't know enough to change these settings.
if the first frame is in fact black, do you know if there is a way to force iphoto to use something other than the first frame when generating thumbnails?
    thanks very much.

  • Codec for .avi files

Hey; this may be an easy or confusing question, unfortunately I don't have alot of time on my hands lately, but i'm looking to view an .avi file and quicktime says i need a codec to view it; i click the link, and theres several codecs, some free, some not, any idea what codec i need to view .avi files, is it free, certain site? thnx, [email protected]

Microsoft, the inventor of the Audio Video Interleave format, no longer supports any of its uses.
They write proprietary codecs for all of their software including most video formats.
They've written their own version of codecs for the MPEG-4 format which also don't conform to the industry standards.
AVI is a "bucket". You can fill a bucket with water, dirt or strawberries. But it's still just a bucket.
Shame on Microsoft for even using the phrase AVI in any of its software.
Apple invented the .mov container and still supports its use. It is also just a bucket as is its .mp4 file extension.
At least .dv still means something that users can understand. And DivX is a bucket that wants to be a file extension. At least they know the difference.

  • New update of Quicktime gets error for mp4 file

So I have a video file in .mp4 format and I all the other video player such as Mplayer extend and VLC all work with mp4 but quicktime however i like to watch all my .mp4 in Quicktime and i thought it was a file error however i believe it's a quicktime update error so all your mp4 file you had before probably gets an invalid sample description error..... so can some one help me out i still got to watch the file but i would like to use my Quicktime pro because i have it and if it just not doing anything i want to delete but I can't because it apart of mac's so i would like something done by the support team or something...........

From where did you get this "mp4" file? From what site, or what application generated it? Did it ever play in QuickTime Player? QuickTime can play standard MPEG-4 files, but there are other applications that generate non-standard files but still use the .mp4 extension (Microsoft, for once) and those QuickTime will not be able to play without third-party codecs such as Perian. If you had Perian before, you may need to update or reinstall.
BTW, it makes it a lot easier to read your posts if you use proper punctuation and capitalization. I don't mean to be giving English lessons here, but it helps if you make your posts as easy to read as possible.

  • What setting for .MP4 using Magic Video Converter?...

What setting do you use for best video when converting video files to .MP4 using Magic Video Converter?? To play on Nokia N95 8gb.
After you have chose to convert to MP4, you can chose a load of diffrent "setting/format" for the MP4 file. But what would be best?

    Here we go again.
    Best for what?
Video quality, smallest size, TV-out, etc.
The best for TV-out is not the same than the best for watching in phone.
If you want the best size to quality compromise then a different setting may be better.
For example best quality to size compromise would be something like:
    Container : MP4
    Res: 320x240
Codec: Mpeg4 AVC h264 Baseline profile
    Bitrate: 256 kbps
    Framerate: as per source
    Audio: AAC 44100 Hz @ 64 kbps

  • Itunes 10 Add to Library doesn't work for mp4 file

    I'm running OS X Lion, iTunes 10.5.2, Quicktime 10.
I am trying to add an MP4 video file to my library and itunes simply does nothing when I drag it to the Movies folder or when I try to select the file from the Add to Library command.  I've been reading for the past hour and see others have had similar issues.  Is there a fix for this?

I just discovered that iTunes doesn't like the H.264 version of MP4 files. If I convert the video to MPEG-4, I can successfully copy the file into iTunes.  Is this a bug or a feature?

  • Proper Codec for.mov files from a Mac

I am trying to utilize camcorder video recoreded by a Sony HD camera with built-in HD downloaded to a Mac.  I am assuming my friend used IMovie.  The camera files have been transfered to an external HD formated FAT32 so I can open with my PC using Elements 7.0.  When I try to import the clips, Elements tells me that this type of file is not supported or the proper codec is not installed
Is it possible to download the proper codec and if so, from where?  I am running a Dell with 8g internal and 1g on the fideo card.  the processer is a P7 so I should have enough horsepower.

Couple other considerations, possible things to try
On the Mac side I have used a free utility called MediaInfo to get info about a particular file, specifically what codec the file is encoded in.
    http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
I would want to first ensure you can play the file back with both audio and video properly in QuickTime player on the Mac before transferring the file to the PC. You also might be able to get the info about the video codec from QuickTime player itself Window > Show Movie Inspector.
If you have the paid version of QuickTime, QuickTime Pro on the Mac, a solution might be to use that convert the .mov files into a format/codec that is more Windows/PRE 7 compatible.
In QT Pro, File > Save As, Select one of the HD options that matches the HD dimensions of your source clip. Note: There is always the chance of some video quality degredation when doing any kind of transcoding.
In PRE7 you'll want to choose a project preset that matches the source clip if possible, probably one of the AVCHD HD ones.
In relation to Steve's comment about formatting your external drive in NTFS, the Mac OS most likely won't be able to read it natively in something other than FAT32 but like he mentions there are inherent file size limitations with FAT32 (4GB max file size).
Hope some of this helps, good luck!
