What content will I loose if I restore my phone from backup?

I need to restore my iPhone4S from a backup, but I am scared that I will loose photos and videos.
Is it guarenteed that everything will be brought back?

If you restore from backup, ALL data, currently on your phone, will be erased. If you have any data that you want to save...pics, etc.,...you need to first import to your computer.

There is no way to "recover" a password.

  • Replacement phone has iOS 7.2 backup from old phone is in iOS 7.1 it will not allow me to restore replacement phone to backup, anyway around this?

Replacement phone has iOS 7.2 installed backup was created in ios 7.1 anyway to restore replacement phone with my backup files? I tried updating the software on the broken phone but it says it is up to date.

You must mean that the replacement iPhone has iOS 7.0.2 since there is no 7.2 version, 7.1 is the current version.  If your backup was created with iOS 7.1 it will not restore to an iOS 7.0.2 iPhone.  If the iPhone will not update to 7.1 for you, take it back to the Apple store and have the genius bar staff update it so you can restore your backup.

  • Restoring my phone from backup. it wont complete.

hi, ive been trying to restore my iphone 3gs from an itunes back up. it just keeps saying a longer time. it tried all night and ive started it again but the time estimated just keeps increasing. any help appreciated. thanx

No matter how you restore, either from backup or as a new device, ALL current data on your phone will be erased. So, if you have data...photos...you don't want to lose, you need to first import these to your computer BEFORE you restore from backup.

  • Will restoring my phone from backup update ios?

i have done a lot of research on this question but i keep getting mixed answers of people saying yes while others say no. i want to clear out "other" space on my iphone 4s 6.1.3, and i heard restoring it will clear up that space but i dont want to upgrade my ios to 7.
If the answer is yes, will "erase all settings and data" upgrade ios too?

And that's exactly the problem, because everyone should have their own account for iCloud. You can share an Apple ID for iTunes & App Store purchases, but you shouldn't do that for iCloud (Mail, Calendar, Contacts etc. ... ...and Photos). The problem of using the same account together could mean that only your dad's photos were stored.

  • I backup up my iphone but didnt include password, and now want to restore new handset from backup and keep asking for password but has no idea what it is, pls help

Hi all, i backup up iphone in itunes but not realised it was password protected and now want to restore new handset from backup but keep asking me for password but no idea what it was,, pls help...

You are someone had to put a check in the box to encrypt your iPhone backup.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password you can continue to do backups and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you will have to do a full software restore and when prompted by iTunes to select the backup to restore from, choose Set up as a new device.

  • Will I loose any data on my phone if I update form ios 7 to 8

Will I loose any data on my phone if I update form ios 7 to 8

Normally when you update a device no data is lost and that includes games. But there are times when things go wrong. I suggest you make an encrypted backup through atones before updating. That way if something does go awry you can recover everything from that backup.
Start the latest version of iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone. Select your iPhone in the devices button at the top of the iTunes screen. Select the encrypted backup choice under the General tab. Be sure to remember the back up password. Once you have completed the backup you can remain connected to iTunes and do the update.

  • Will I be able to restore a 3.1 backup after upgrading to 3.2?

I recently had my phone replaced because of the random shutdown issues that came along with the 3.1 software update. The phone came with 3.0.1 installed, and since I didn't want to risk ending up with the same problems all over again, I didn't install the 3.1 update. However iTunes wont let me restore from the backup I made of my old phone, event though it's supposedly only restoring contacts, SMS messages and app settings. Once whatever software that follows 3.1 is released, will I be able to restore from the 3.1 backup that I have?

all long as the iphone software is the same or a later version then the backup file then you will be able to restore the phone from that backup... so in your case updating to 3.x (x= the next update) then you can restore from that 3.1 backup you have

Yes.  It will only erase the phone, not any data or backups from icloud.com.  If you think it was stolen, you might want to read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5668.
