I have 4 screens on my mac
Two identical cards , each with two outputs.
3 monitors in panorama, with the 42 inch TV above the three
Today when i started, I selected Windows | Show Event sonSecond display...the Events panel popped up on the big TV screen, not where I had expected it,on the LHS. So I though it may be because of the way the screens were plugged in to the machine, so I reconfigured, swapping the TV cable with the LH screen cable.
All worked all, for 8 -8 hours. with the events n the LH screen.
I have not touched the cables again.
Now I re boot the Mac ..and fire up FCP again...and the Events have gone back up to the TV screen.
Am I going to have to swap cables each time , I want to start FCP or is there anther way? maybe eFCP X is just not really designed for multiple screens I guess?

this is a pre Thunderbolt machine, 2008 3.1 mac pro tower.

It is weird and there does not seem to be any logic or reason to what happens. I can swap the leads over, and each monitor in Sys Prefs keeps its place, desktop icons and backgroind maintain their corrrct arrsngement per monitor. So LH desktop backgroind will stay on LH screen, no matter what port its cable is plugged into.
Yet, you do a reboot & swap a few minutes later and it is totally random in sys preferencex.
FCP X will seem to randomly choose any of the other screens as its second display..
I know with launching an app from Spotlight, the app tends to open in tjd screen where the mouse is active, no matter which screen Sotlight was launched from.
I have multiscreen setup as 'Spaces' so each has its own Dock and Taskbar.
THis machine has Mavericks 10.9.5 on. I am quite scared to try Yosemite on it for fear of what else they have broken since 10.6. Laptop has Yosemite on it but not mutlimonitor capable.
this is definetly an FCP X issue rather than OS related. I can fire up Adobe Lightroom, and without fail it chooses the LH screen as its second monitor.
I Have a Premier Pro disk kicking aroind somewhere, may have to give that a try and see if that supports multi screen,

How to use the second display for installation OS in my vertical lines iMac

My 17" iMac display is full of vertical lines, it is unuseable. Does anyone know how to use the second display for Mac OS X or disable the first display for installation Mac OS x ?

Go to: *System Preferences > Displays* and select the Arrangement tab, then relocate your Menu bar by dragging it to the other display.
Unfortunately there is no Hardware or Software switch to turn off the iMac's Internal Display.

Officejet 6700 Premium[851648] Send faxes from the control panel (Screen) of the printer

I have a problem with my printer HP Officejet 6700 Premium [851648] when sending a fax using the control panael (Screen) of the printer. It shows to me very fast a blue screen with a power icon and an Error Code : "B82658AC". Than it shows a masseg tell me to turn off the printer. But when send a fax via HP Utility program it sends with no problem. It is the first time to send a fax after buying the printer. I have done the Test and show to me every thing is OK. My printer is conected directly to the phone line. I just want to now how to fix this problem, Thanx.

What kind of LCD screen is the MBP display?

I have a 2007 Santa Rosa Macbook Pro. I'm curious what kind of LCD screen the display is. I know TN is the worst, and something like ISPS is better...

The screens in the MBP are provided by one of three manufacturers: Samsung, LG, and Chimei. Although there is a host of debate about which is the best between Samsung and LG, everyone agrees that Chimei screens are the worst.
The Samsung panels tend to be more "vivid" compared to the LG screens (although you'll only notice this difference if you compare the two side by side.) The LG screens tend to be less susceptible to "yellowing." If you get a good, defect-free Samsung panel you hit the jackpot. It's the best of the three.
To find out which one you have, go to System Preferences > Displays > Color > Open Color Profile and scroll down to line 13. Post the code next to "Manufacturer Code." (It should be something like 0000009c68.) Bring it back here and someone will be able to tell you what screen you have.
Of course, unrelated to the screen, the Santa Rosa MacBook Pro was the first to introduce LED backlighting.

Using the PowerBook's screen as the 2nd Display

I have been wondering this for a while: is it at all possible to use the 17" screen on my PowerBook as my secondary monitor and use my 23" Cinema Display as my Primary monitor. What i am trying to do this for is use Final Cut Pro and Shake on my 23" ACD and view the output on the PowerBook's display. I just feel bad that I use my entire 23" monitor just as a second screen.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

By primary and secondary, if you mean have the menu bar be on the ACD rather than the PB screen, then you can do this under the arrangement tab in Display Prefs. Just drag the little facsimilie of the menu bar on the arrangement screens from one screen to the other.

I hate to have to plug/unplug the connecter to turn the TV-out off and thereby regain normal resolution on the iMac.
Is that the only way? I was hoping that there is a way to disable the video-out and get the iMac back to normal through software rather than physically pull the plug out to turn it off nd then have to plug it back in when I want TV.
Same goes for audio out. Any way to turn the external off while it's plugged in?

Try using ScreenSpanningDoctor. It'll let you have different resolutions for the TV out and the iMac, stopping that insane behavior. Also check out the Griffin iMic for your audio out. Using VLC you can select the second screen for video playback and the iMic for audio. Hope this helps. (works great here)

Using only the second display...

Is it possible to only use a second display connected to the dvi, while disabling the main display on the laptop?

Not true brother. Simply open back up the screen once you have established the connection with your external monitor and its native resolutions, and BINGO you can us the keyboard to type and the laptop screen will not turn on. In fact you can use all of the functiions of the laptop without the laptop screen truning on. Try it.

What can I connect to the cinema display´s firewire port?

What do you think of connecting an external hard drive to the cinema display´s firewire port? My other firewire ports on my G5 are already occupied.

The FireWire ports on a Cinema Display can be used with anything that the FireWire ports on a Mac can be used for; they are included because a Mac and external monitor may be set up in a way that prevents the ports on the computer from being easily accessed.

Control which Interactive Report is initially displayed.

Hi,
I have a page with an Interactive Report which has a default page and a saved public page called 'My Cases'. The interactive report is accessed from several different pages and I want to be able to display either the default page or the public page depending on where the user calls the page from.
For example, if the user accesses the page from Page 1, it displays the default interactive report, and if they access it from Page 2, it displays the saved public report.
I can see that the interactive report as an onchange="gReport.pull(this.value,'REPORT_CHANGED')" which is called when you change the Reports selection which is refreshing the report and displaying the relevant report. So I have tried to change the value when the page loads to the report I want by adding this
$('#apexir_SAVED_REPORTS').val('23219303448909609'); I realise the report id will change by session, but have hardcoded it just to see if I can get it to work.
I also tried adding apex.event.trigger('#report_id','apexrefresh') aswell but it doesn't seem to work
Any ideas on how I can achieve this?

According to your description, you want to create a report that the end user could enter the comment, then the comment could be sent to the report creator, right?
Reporting Services is used for rendering the report with data retrieved from datasource. In Reporting Services, we can retrieve data from the datasource then design a report, after the report processed, data is fixed on the report. So it’s not supported
to have the end users enter comment and fed back to report creator. For your requirement, it can’t be achieved currently.

What controls which tab displays when a portal is opened?

My portal has five tabs in it. When I was running Portal 3.0.6.6.5, the left-most tab was the default (and 'on top') when portal launched. Now under 3.0.8.9.8, the right-most is the default. I know there is a Tab Alignment setting under the 'Edit Tabbed Region' for each tab and I have all of them set to Left, but this only seems to affect whether the tabs group to left or right, not which one is default at launch.
Anyone have any ideas?

Can you clarify what your requirement is?
It sounds logical to me that you see the same view when you access the same page from a different browser window.
If you want to access the contents of your tabs individually as "stand alone" portal pages, this is what I'd do:
1) Create a page for every tab.
2) Create a page for the "tabbed master page".
3) Add the pages created in 1) to the tabs as page portlets.
When you need to access a particular page without tabs, provide the link to the pages created in 1). When you want to access the "tabbed master page", provide the link to the page you created in 2).

HT5019 If my second display is not showing up on the graphics display window, yet the second display is showing a mirror image, how can I get it to recognize the second display and allow me to setup extended desktop?

I'm running 10.9.2 on a Power Mac from 2013. I am using two identical HP monitors. I have a Y adapter to connect the monitors. Which I'm guessing means the computer is only seeing one display since there is only one display output.

There are no PowerMacs from 2013. The desktop tower from 2006 on got named Mac Pro. The problem is probably the Y adapter. You need a videocard with two display ports, or two videocards to be able to make an extended desktop from one to the other. If you gave us the Y adapter make and model, we could tell if it supports screen spanning or not.

Force Variable screen even the second time

Hi guru's,
I want to know how to force the variable screen in Web Analyzer each time the user open the query.
I already set up the correct option to force the variable screen in my web template , but this option is Ok for the queries wich don't have mandatory vairable.
My case is i open a report then put variables values and execute it. i open another report, and then i want to open again the first report. in this case the system does not ask me to put variables values. it execute with my old selections.
i can change it in filter of my web page but i want to have access at the variable screen.

Hi Cyril,
1. Create a Web Template,place an Analysis item and assign the query which contains variable(either mandatory or normal variable)
2.In the Properties of Analysis item->Select Web Template from the drop down->Behavior->Display Variable checkbox->make it as On(By default this will be Off)
3.Save the template and open it in Web Analyzer.
Now always it will prompt for a variable even if you open other template and come back,open this template.
