What could Openreach have done to my line?

I had a line fault. The Openreach engineer said there was a loose wire in the box down the road and it's now fixed. 
Trouble is, afterwards my broadband speed (Sky) had dropped from over 5mbps (for the last 8years with different providers) to 3.5mbps.
BT said speak to your ISP. But Sky said the line won't go any faster. I switched ISP in a huff, and it looks like it's the same with the new ISP; they (Zen) said the same, but to let it train. But it's 3.5mbps and doesn't look like it's going to change. 
I'm in the test socket, quiet line test was quiet. Also, new router and filters.
It looks like BT will just say, there's no fault i.e. "we're a monopoly and we can be as rubbish as we like." 
What could the Openreach "person" have done in that box?

Openreach is not a separate company. They're a division of the BT group (although they're supposed to operate independently).  They are totally independant under OFCOM rules
When the line fault occured (phone dead), BT - who own the line and are the phone provider - were the correct port of call and responsible for testing the line and sending Openreach to fix it. Openreach didn't fix it (manifestly). But on talking to BT again, they're able to claim it is fixed when it obviously isn't as far as broadband is concerned. So nothing further gets done - unless Zen can persuade Openreach to do something in a week or so's time.
I was hoping for any insight as to how BT's lines could have become "degreaded" in this way at the hands of Openreach. As well as highlighting the absurdity of it all.   There is no such thing as a  BT line the network ond owned and operated by Openreach for all service providers        
Yor phone and broadband problems are seperate issues Openreach have repaired your voice line fault it is now down to your ISP to deal with Openreach to resolve your Broadband problem

    Here are the stats:  From my Mac Mini where I keep physical copies of everything: 43 genres, 706 artists, 1477 albums, 17719 songs.  On my Macbook (same new version of iTunes) 9 genres, 52 artists, 59 albums and 611 songs.  What could I have done to make my iCloud content invisible and inaccessible?  I paid up and the setup looks normal.
    The system is completely up-to-date running all of the latest available versions and patches for IOS X 10.10.2
    Help would be appreciated.

    As you will have discovered, the music sync is only one way, from iTunes to the iPod, minus iTunes purchases.  On top of that, an iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.

    I checked and found that the router did not have the latest firmware.   It does now.   The issue is still there.   I did a little research and found that the model number of my Apple TV (MC572LL/A) shows that it is a 2G version which uses the A4 chip.   The latest version uses the A5 chip and is 1080 capable.  Both are supposed to be capable of using type "N" routers.   I don't think that should be an issue but I wonder if later updates may have introduced some issues in the 2G version.  
    I am going to try changing the "N" channel also- just to see if that makes any difference.  The istumbler app does not show any "N" networks in my area so it is defaulting to 149.   I will note that even 1 foot away from the router I only get 75-85% for signal.   I would expect it to be 100% since it is so close.   I am also seeing noise go up from typically 13% to 21% when it is on channel 3 and that close.       I will play change locations and channels and see if there is any improvement.

    Using the same Apple id and Password you should be able to download purchased apps without being charged again.
    I download to an iPad/iPad2/iPhone3 & iPhone4 with no problem.

  • TS1389 What if I have done all the steps apple says, and I still can't authorize my computer to play certain purchased songs

    I followed all the steps on the apple page, and just a few of the songs I just purchased cannot be authorized for some reason.  It keeps prompting me, and I keep entering my password and it says this computer is already authorized.  ARG! 
    Weirdly, when I look at the info of the songs, some list my name as "Purchased by", but the songs I can't play don't have a "Purchased By" line, but all songs show the correct "Account Name"

    They were purchased by another Apple ID.
    If you are not sure what other Apple IDs you may have, go to appleid.apple.com and click on the link that says "Find your Apple ID".
    You are needing to authorize the Apple ID that those other songs were purchased under.

    While it may have done this to the hackers this URL is not from Apple and therefore, I still do not know what else it might have changed except what it did to the hacks.

  • Basic question... what might I have done?...

    I'm working through some tutorials and training exercises to learn FCP. I had created a timeline with several different clips and was applying different filters to it. Then, somehow, I think while I was closing out of the project, I lost my Timeline and Canvas windows.
    I had saved the project several times, but when I reopened it, I had the same problem--I could not see the Canvas or the Timeline. I could, however, still see the clips I was working with in the Browser. I tried to use Window> Arrange> Standard to bring the Timeline and Canvas back, but it didn't work. Because this is just a practice project, I wasn't concerned about retaining every change I had made, so I was able to get them back by using File> Restore Project.
    But I can't figure out how I caused the Timeline and Canvas to disappear in the first place, and as this would be a real problem with a project I wanted to keep, I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me what I could've done that made the Timeline and Canvas disappear (and how I could have brought them back). Thanks.

    You probably closed the Canvas and that closed the timeline window as well. Double click a sequence in the browser to open the windows again.

    wonder if anyone can help me out. I'm a "Logic"-newbie.
    I recorded 10 "external MIDI" tracks(strings) from my Roland JV 1080 synth module into Logic Pro 9 and now I want to export the MIDI file as Audio but when I go to: File - Export - Track As Audio File, the "Track As Audio File" is gray/ not enabled !! The option-"Export All Tracks As Audio Files " is enabled, but when I try it, it doesn export the MIDI tracks with all the Roland JV 1080 data.It only exports any other recorded "soft instruments"tracks or Audio tracks I've uploaded. Keep in mind, the 10 Midi recorded tracks of strings (JV 1080) are using the same program name/patch, and all 10 tracks are on a single channel. In the Inspector window, it doesn't show the "Bounce" option either. When I started recording the strings from this patch, I used the "new track with duplicate settings"-button,so I could have the same sounding string patch available right away. My Roland JV 1080 synth, is connected to the Midi interface only. Should I also have Audio cables connected from JV 1080's Mix Out to the Audio interface (Apogee-Duet) in order to record directly as Audio?

    Thank you as well! Since, you have similar equipment like mine- (Apogee/ Emagic), how do you suggest I connect my devices properly. I got an external  12-channel "Mackie"1202-VLZ Mixer, which has my Roland JV 1080 box and my Kurzweil PC2X controller kyes connected to.These two are also, connected MIDI In and Out -to my Emagic Unitor 8 MKII (Audio Interface). I'm a little confused about the connecting of my Apogee Duet, since it has just 2 OUT's- L and R. What's the best rigging here, so I can hear the Audio back from the JV 1080 and the Kurzweil?
    ( P.S. The Apogee Duet's OUT's (L& R) are plugged into the Mackie'sStereo Aux Returns (L&R). The monitors are  connected to the Main Outs.)
    I appreciate your suggestions.

  • Could I Have Done this All in FCPX?

    Supidly grabbed my older AVCHD Sony and positioned it to shoot remotely from a different angle without considering settings.  Normally I am mixing clips from my DSLR and my better Sony in multi-angle clips in FCPX.  The older camcorder was set to save in anamorphic format, and the frame rate was different from what I currently use on other cameras.  So of course I could not sync footage from the anamorphic clip and my primary 1920x1080, 23.89 frame rate camcorder.
    Outside of FCPX I used MPEG Streamclip to convert the anamorphic clip to matching resolution and frame rate.  Imported that into FCPX and had no trouble getting both to sync into a new mult-angle clip.
    I don't see how this could be done staying only within FCPX?  I think that if I had a Project already started in the normal specs, I could drop an Anamorphic clip in, and FCPX might render it?  But that does not support making a multi-angle clip, does it?

    In a new Event where I again used the older camcorder, I changed the memory format to not be anamorphic, but with this camera I did not know how to change it to record in 24 fps.  Thus using the clip in a multicam clip did not work as it should -- no surprise since clip properties were a part of the auto criteria.
    This time, instead of using MPEG Streamclip, I made a new Project, and first dragged a proper 24 fps clip into it.  Then I dragged in the 30 fps clip, and waited for it to be rendered by FCPX as 24 fps.  Next, after removiing the starter clip,  I saved the Project as a Master Clip, and then from the location to which it was exported, I Imported it into Event where the other two camera clips resided, and let it be Optimized.
    Finally, I selected every desired clip from the Event, including this latest converted one, and FCPX properly constructed a 3 angle multicam clip, all properly synced by audio.  Cool!
    So no need to MPEG Streamclip, etc to do the conversion.

    If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
    Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
    Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
    While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
    iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

    I did recharge of $70 on my apple id, however i could not use it as the apple id required for verify security question.
    I forgot an answer for these questions, and i could not reset because my secure email address has been typed wrong in the first time when i created apple id.

    Sounds like a case of entering an incorrect passcode over and over.  Only fix is to follow the instructions in that article you reference, HT1212, and it may take a couple tries to get it to work right.

  • In working with my calendar, i don't know what i might have done, but all entries on Fridays, starting from Friday, March 14, simply disappeared. my time machine was not functioning and am wondering if this info is hiding somewhere in the cloud?

    In working with icalendar, i inadvertantly lost all Friday entries after March 14th.  My time machine was not hooked up.  Hoped that the cloud might have this information.

    You can check to see if they are still in iCloud by looking at your calendar on icloud.com.  If they are, go to System Preferences>iCloud on your Mac, uncheck Calendars, choose Delete from Mac (they will still be in iCloud), restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in.  If they aren't on icloud.com you might just give it some time to see if they reappear due to a server glitch.
