What data on phone are carriers allowed to access / modify?

When taking my iPhone 6 (unlocked) from the US to NTT Docomo in Japan, there was suddenly an entry in my 'Stocks' app for NTT.  Also, 'docomo' was added to my auto-join WiFi network listing.
This made me concerned and I am now looking for a comprehensive listing of what carriers are allowed to access and modify on the phone when joining their network via SIM.

Yahoo probably added NTT to your stocks app because of your change of location.
Your cell carrier would have nothing to do with a WiFi site, you must have connected to that site at one time.

  • Are the Adobe CS6 training video's available on DVD? My employees are not allowed internet access due too their environment.

We have recently purchased Adobe CS6, and are in need of the training video's if they are available on DVD. We are a correctional institution, and the inmates that do the work are not allowed internet access.

    Hi Martinsils
I think most of the current content from Adobe and partners is online and for the latest versions, CC and CC 2014.
This might be a good place to start:
    Amazon.com: training DVD adobe CS6 - Training / Design & Illustration: Software
    or
    http://www.amazon.com/Discounted-Adobe-Training-Bundle-Hours/dp/B00AFE3FP8
I'm not familiar with providers there other than PhotoshopCAFE. I personally was very happy with their training content.
    Hope that helps,

  • What does 'init functions are not allowed in this objset' mean and how can it be fixed?

We have added some init functions to the beginning of the obj.conf file so that we can proxy off to Weblogic.
However when we try to run the Web server we get an error message 'init functions are not allowed in this objset'.
The syntax seems to be correct. Has anyone any idea how this can be fixed?

You are probably using iPlanet Web Server 6.0 or higher; starting with 6.0, the web server does not allow Init directives to appear on the obj.conf file. Instead, place your Init directives in the magnus.conf file.
This is documented in the Installation and Migration Guide at http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/50/ig/migrate.htm#20780 in the Programmer's Guide at http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/50/pg/1-intro.htm#13565 and in the NSAPI Programmer's Guide at http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/50/nsapi/02_objcn.htm#13097

  • What sort of phone are the Apple Store replacement phones?

When I originally got my iPhone 4 a few years ago, I had a pixel die on two, and I took them to the Apple Store; they replaced them (for free) with phones that were wrapped in the plastic protectors, but in a box wholly different from the actual iPhone 4 box. Maybe it was my imagination, but both my replacement phones seemed... loose or rattle-ey, if you will, though they worked just fine and looked new, nevertheless. Anyway, jumpy to today: I got my iPhone 6 in the mail but it had a scratch on the screen. I took it to the Apple Store and they replaced it, yet again, with a phone in the normal plastic protective sleeve and in a box not like the one the phone comes in. Maybe I'm crazy, but this one rattles too. I can't put my hand on it, but the replacement phone's feel different than the phones that came right out of a factory sealed box.
Does anyone know where the replacement phones come from? Are they refurbished phones? Or are they separately shipped new phones held in-stock just for replacements? I'm curious to know.

Oh yeah, I know. When I bought my MacBook it was a refurbished from the site, and it was absolutely perfect---same as my Apple TV... it came flawless... looked new! But every "replacement" phone I've gotten from an Apple Store, rattles and seems... "rebuilt", if you will. I realize a refurbished is rebuilt, but this phone doesn't have the feel or quality of a real new phone. It's not solid. It feels like something someone lazily repaired it at another tech store. I guess I'll go back up there tomorrow...

  • Phone Unlock (Carrier) Procedure?

My iPhone 4S was an upgrade through T-Mobile in the UK. In this day and age there are still areas with poor data coverage areas for T-Mobile/Orange so I like to use my business O2 SIM on odd occasions.
I've contacted T-Mobile as their phones are carrier locked and paid for a subsidy code (unlock) which will take between 10 and 28 days to arrive. They didn't ask for my IMEI but I presume that's because they have that logged on the system.
I'm curious what the unlock process involves, someone mentioned that the carrier contacts Apple and the unlock is managed through iTunes. There's no code as such, when Apple have updated their system and the phone is connected using iTunes, the phone will unlock. Is that the case?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5014
Once you have completed the unlock process as laid out by AT&T
you can change the sim at will
Although I usually switch off the iPhone before changing ( being careful)
I have at times hot swapped and had no problems
    You lose nothing

  • "There are no shares available or you are not allowed access them..."

I'm admittedly a bit rusty, last time I set up a Mac OS server was 10.4. I'm having a huge problem setting up basic file sharing and it's driving me nuts!
For testing and trouble shooting I've set up a single share, a single user and added that user to a single group. I enabled all services for the user. I then set the POSIX permissions on the share to read and write for the user and the group. I also tried additional ACL permissions to full control. No matter what I do I still get "There are no shares available or you are not allowed to access them on the server". I can log on any admin account with no problems, but I can't get standard accounts to connect! I've tried stopping and starting AFP service with no change. I've re-read all the AFP and permissions sections of the admin guides and the server essentials book. From what I can tell this should all be working. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jason
    +"What am I missing?"+
SACLs perhaps? What are SACLs? Service Access Control Lists. Where are they? Server Admin > Server Name > Settings > Access. After installation 10.6 Server (by default) toggles Access for all users to the more limited setting below it.

Make sure you sync photos to computer then delete from Camera Roll. (Camera Roll photos are part of Documents & Data).
Delete some apps on the iPhone.
    Then Restore iPhone in iTunes.

  • I put a Tesco sim (02 carrier) in 2 unlocked phones, Both phones are now locked to 02, 02 blame apple, I connect the iphone to itunes and it states that the new carrier (orange) is not supported

I put a Tesco sim (02 carrier) in 2 unlocked phones, Both phones are now locked to 02, 02 blame apple, I connect the iphone to itunes and it states that the new carrier (orange) is not supported, Isk this of both 02 and apple, who's phone is this and what right do you have to lock a previously unlocked phone?  very angry

Where did you get these phones?
These and other forums are full of people with iPhone unlocking problems - the net result is that, as others have said, is:
If you bought them from Apple they will be (and stay) unlocked.
If you bought them PAYG from CPW then they will lock to the first SIM activated.
Any other contract or PAYG phone iPhone bought from the networks WILL be locked by them too.
However, all is not lost. The original purchaser can request for the phones to be unlocked by Apple, via the carrier. The carriers usually charge around £20 to do this, or gratis if you're out of contract.
You are the original purchaser, right? If not, you need to get in touch with that person and pray they'll help you out.

The ear phones carry the same warranty as the iPhone.  They're still in warranty.  Bring them in to Apple for evaluation and if they are deemed defective they will be replaced free of charge.

  • What USA Cell Phone Carrier has the N-Series Phone...

Please, I need the help of those who know MUCH more about Carrier availability than either myself, Google or even Bing has been able to come up with.
I have been doing some heavy research into phones and I quite like what I have read and seen of the Nokia phones, most especially the N and E series phones.  They are quite impressive.
I know the E71 is available on AT&T and there are a variety of Nokia bar and flip phones available on a variety of American Cell Phone Carriers BUT... what what I am really interested in is what carrier could I use a good N Series smartphone on?  I have been looking at the E71 on AT&T (which is my current network) and if nothing else, I could be easily persuaded to purchase that phone.  However, it is the N-Series phones that really caught my attention as they have the solid build, camera / video options, web-browsing features and functionality that really speak to me.
I am most interested in what carrier's in the USA would be or are carrying the N97, the N86 & N85 and possibly the N96 phones?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
You can use any phone from Nokia with ATT and other carrier that use the GSM network, but you have to look for the phones that made for  the USA networks Nokia have a different version of their phones for USA and global use but you still can use the global one here in USA but with some limited function like the 3G services that different from USA. And if your looking for carrier that provide N or E series here in USA I don’t think there is any other than ATT and it only carry some of them not all, the N96 and N97 I don’t think you can find any of them here with plan price you have to by them from amazon they have cheaper than NokiaUSA.
i hope that will help you...
    thanks

I got an iPhone 4 a week ago. I synced my iTunes once and now I want to change what albums and playlists are on my phone. When I try to do this, iTunes threatens to remove all my apps. Of course, Apple's support is no help. I know there has to be a way to add and remove whole albums and playlists like on the music tab on the device, so please don't tell me to uncheck/delete everything from my iTunes that I don't want and re-sync. That is not helpful and not the issue. How do I get around it threatening to remove all my apps?

On the MacBook, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Advanced > Disable remote control

It's because you are both using the same iTunes Library on your computer and you are both using the same Apple ID on each phone.
One of you must start a new computer user account and get a new Apple ID. Then start operating on the ocmputer from the new account. He/she will also need to restore their phone from the new account and using the new Apple ID. This way everything on each of your phones will remain separate.

Contact the carrier the devices are locked to.  Apple has nothing to do with this and will not unlock any iPhone for end users.
If the carrier offers unlocking and you meet their requirements, they will then submit the information to Apple to have the device unlocked.

  • My I Phone is a 4 s, and I came with 5 mb of I cloud storage, my phone won't back up because I needed more storage or delete data. What data am I supposed to deleted? I have dumped everything off my phone, so I'm not sure what it is trying to back up.

I have an i phone 4s, It comes with 5 mb of free i cloud back up. It has not been able to back up, due to not enough storage, it saying I need to delete data, what data? I have dumped everything so I am confused.. I buckled an bought 10 more mb and it is backing up right now for like another 23 hours...what exactly is it backing up since I dumped all pics, and texts messages? How can I prevent this in the future? oh I only have like 2 mb of music onn there as well..and it was saying I still had 5 mb avaliable to use on the cloud last night..I'm so confused...

Is it saying that there is not enough free space to backup to your computer?  If so, make sure you have enough available hard drive space to back up your iPhone.  If you do, a backup file on your computer is corrupted.  The best way to resolve this problem is:
NOTE: This method will erase any and all backups iTunes has made of your iPhone from your computer. It should not erase the data on your iPhone, just the backup files that iTunes creates on your computer.
Launch iTunes, Go to iTunes>Preferences, then click on the Devices tab, select all of the backups made of your iPhone.  Then click "Delete Backup...".

After you restore from backup, you MUST sync to restore your iTunes content. No iTunes content is included in the iPhone backup. Your apps should be in your iTunes library, just sync them back to your phone. If for some reason your apps are not in your library, you can re-download them for free:
