  • What device i should buy

    hello guys
    (sorry for mi grammar)
i have a little problem, what device i should buy for this type of application
a simple midlet program that send information to a router wireless (wi-fi)
some guys said me buy a pc pocket or palm with wireless card incorporated
the point is, i need your opinion coz, your knowledge is more important and real that google, is marketing of prices and products
    thanks in advanced

As for me, you should use ASUS or NETGEAR cards.
I have no problems with them.
If there any problems with drivers installation you can use NDISWRAPER
But don't use D-LINK 'cause original schematic of impulse power suply is "unstable" and it can burn out
your card or AP. This caused by using btm-like components which are unstable on higher frequencies. (higher than 2 ghz and we have 2.4 ghz) And TP-link cards is "Chinese modified" D_LINK and it is more stable.
I think that the best way to power up your linux with wireless device is to use Atheros or Prism chipsets.
If you want "much powerfull" connection you should use Orinoco Gold card. This thing will blow up all the chanells.
There are nice Planet cards and AP's supported by wireless-ng. Why Planet?
Planet ARM's (CPU's) on AP's are about 166-233 mhz, but there are a lot of stuff on them.
And they've got much power - about 850 mW
As for me, if you don't whant to play with drivers you should use AP's.
Greatest AP that I've ever seen is Senao Deluxe. This series of AP's is about 1W of power!!! But there are some problems with their inner stuff.

    Hi,
Recently we were asked to configure 'HP Laser Jet P2055dn' as the cheque printer in our landscpe.
While configuring the printer, I have a doubt of the Device Type to be selected in SPAD settings.
Could you please suggest me which Device Type to be selected for this printer
Below are the details of the Printer provided o me by the infrastructure team:
HP Universal Printing PCL 5:  'HP Laser Jet P2055dn' with a Troy badge on it
    Regards,

    Hello,
Try using HP Laserjet 4 series PCL-5 driver for the printer you have mentioned.
Otherwise you can customize your own drivers with needed controls, formats, etc macthing the cheque printing.

  • I have a HP5500 60" - what paper type do i select for tracing paper?

HP5500 60" printer - i need to print architectural sketches on to tracing paper, but tracing paper isn't an option for paper type when loading it. What is the best 'paper type' to select for this medium? Have printed on tracing paper before and the image bled on the paper (didn't stay sharp)

  • What "Partitions" type should I use when I create an image in Disk Utility?

I have a Sony HDR-SR1 camcorder and have been creating images in Disk Utility to dump copies of my camcorders hard drive to. That way I can mount the disk image and import into iMovie just as if the camera was plugged in. These are the options I've been using:
    Volume Size: varies
Volume Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Encryption: none
Partitions: Single partition - Apple Partition Map (the default I believe)
    Image Format: read/write disk image
The option I'm not sure of and can't find much information on is Partitions. Up until now all the ones I've created use what I listed above. What is the difference between all the options (hard disk, cd/dvd, no partition, single partition - *multiple options*) and what should I be using to ensure long term compatibility with these disk images. Thanks.

You don't need the journaling feature. Everything else appears proper. As for the various formats, check DU's help files.

  • What video settings should I select for 60m of video in iMovie

My gear: HDTV, DVD player that upconverts to 1080i, Canon HG10 HD camcorder
I record in HD. I have both an HDTV and a 4:3 standard TV. I don't have a Bluray player, nor do I want to invest in one at the moment.
I only need to record 60 minutes of video at a time to a single DVD.
Question: what settings in iMovie should I use to ensure the BEST video quality when I play back on my HDTV and DVD player that upconverts?

If you shoot 30p, ingesting 960x540 should be enough for your DVD output. If you use 60i, then importing and outputting at 1080i would be important to maintain 60Hz motion smoothness. (You shouldn't use stabilization or cropping while editing to avoid damaging 60i.) Then use MPEG streamclip or JES deinterlacer to resize 1080i 60 to 480i 60 to feed DVD authoring tool.
Or, you may want to use iMovie09 only as an importing tool for AVCHD video. Use imported movie (1080i AIC) in iMovieHD to edit movie and send it to iDVD, which will preserve 60i motion.

  • What file type should i use for reading a large file of data?

I want to store data in a file and access them later. The data file could reach 500 to 1000 MBytes, as a binary file.
    I may have memory problems.
I do not need the whole data in memory, only a few data each time, for my calculations.
If i use a binary file, i can not read only a few data. I have to load the whole file and then read the data i need.
    Is this correct?
If i use another type of file, can i read only a few bytes without loading the whole file?
    Maybe a TDMS file?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I would probably use a TDMS file for this since it could also be read into excel if it were small enough - just more flexiblility. But you can also do it using binary types. You don't have to read the entire file when using binary files. See below.

  • What file types should I import?

    Hey Everyone.
I've been using the same process for years to create my videos and burn them to DVD.
I capture and edit with FCPro and Motion.
I export out of FCPro with the
File>export>Export using compressor from the final cut menu.
    This opens up compressor.
I always set the compressor settings to DVD Best Quality 90 minutes.
Then I import those MPEG2 files into DVDSP and continue the process from there.
It dawned on me today that I may not be doing this in the correct way. I started thinking... an MPEG 2 file is a compressed file. Then I import that file in DVDSP... does it compress it again. Doesn't it recompress it into a VOB file... so in essence I'm compressing it twice.
Can someone clarify this for me.... Thanks in advance.

Some things will be recompressed, mainly on menus if you make them a certain way,, but otherwise DVD SP will not recompress m2vs that are on tracks or otherwise...in other words encoding assets outside DVD SP with Compressor for m2v and AC3/Dolby is the way to go.
The VOBS are not recompressed, they are muxed.
In other words it sounds like you are generally doing things fine

  • Mapping an iPod; selecting a device type / Norton Antirus quection

I am a new user to Network Magic.  I had not heard of the program until yesterday.
So far all the PC's have connected and confugured OK.  I have two issues / questions:
    1) For the iPod, naming it is no problem but what Device Type should I select?
    2) On one Dell PC, connected by wire to the router, Network Majic is not seeing the Norton Antivirus software and reports "Antivirus is not active", but it is.  Any idea on how to fix this?  Right now I have it set to ignore.
    Wogie
    1) Network Magic Version installed: 5.5.9195.0-Pure0
    2) Cable connection, Time Warner Road Runner
    3) Brand of Modem:

Has someone an idea how to get into the system of the iPod, that i am able to see what he is doing?
I already tried to works with XCode, but not able to connect to my device.
Also worked with the iPhone Utility, nevertheless a bit helpful.
Or a hint, how to destroy my actual firmware and to set up a new one, means setting up a completely (brand) new iPod like i bought it at the store?!
Support can not help me any more because my warranty is over ince 2 days.
    Thank you

  • Device Type for EPSON TM-U220

    Hi All,
We are using EPSON TM-U220 dot matrix printer. Can anybody tell me which device type should be used for this? How to find a appropriate device type for a printer? Where we can get this info? I have selected EPESCP and its not printing the way how its appearing in the preview. I tested with SAPWIN too, same problem I have faced with SAPWIN too.
    Thanks in advance.
    Hernando

is correct, the printer is set up in the Tx SPAD, we tested several device types, but none has proved effective, as reported, the preview is fine but when printing it is so wrong. My question is, If you have used this type of printer, if so what kind of device type are you used?
    Thanks
