What did Apple do with my iPod?

I sent my iPod video in last week. I checked the status, and it says "Original Product Shipped". Does this mean they sent mine back, or sent the iPod Video, but a replacement? If they send me mine back without doing anything, I cant get it to work.

The CD doesnt have an updater on it. I put the disk in, it requests my info, installs iTunes, then it says to restart my PC.
You think maybe Apple updated it for me, and I wont have to try to update it myself?
They said there was "No Problem Found".

I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • What does apple do if the ipod is 2 weeks old and was stolen then found but damaged

What will apple do for you if what does apple do if the ipod is 2 weeks old and was stolen then found but damaged

If the damage is due to a manufacturing defect, they will unquestionably replace it.  If the damage was caused by misuse or mishandling, such as dropping, Apple is obliged to do nothing.  Your best bet is to go to the Genius bar at an Apple store and explain what happened, perhaps they will replace the iPod.  Also, If you bought your iPod with a credit card, check with your card company.  Some cards provide Purchase Protection insurance which will replace or repair any item lost, stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase.

My ipod is really beggining to irritate me,when i finally get apps sent to my ipod touch thay are still saying "waiting...."and now the apps picture on all of them is blank and i still HAVE YET TO DOWNLOAD ONE APP SUCCESSFULLY! What's going on with my ipod & how do i fix it?

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPod yet?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If that doesn't work, are you still connected to a network?  Either way try connecting to a different one and downloading another FREE app to see if that helps.

  • My daughter is currently using my Apple ID with her ipod touch.  I will be upgrading her to an iPhone 4S and would like to use a differnt Apple ID and a new computer and still keep all the current music and apps that she has now.  How do I do this?

My daughter is currently using my Apple ID with her ipod touch.  I will be upgrading her to an iPhone 4S and would like to use a different Apple ID and a new computer and still keep all the current music and Apps that she has now.  How do I do this?

Make a new Apple ID for her.
Use it on her iPhone 4S for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime.
Use your ID on her iPhone 4S for iTunes and App Stores.
Sign in with your Apple ID on iTunes Store (on iTunes app of her new computer)
Authorize her new computer with your Apple ID in iTunes (iTunes menu>Store>Authorize this Computer)
Check "Share my Library on my Local Network" in iTunes Preferences in your and her computer
Sign in Home Sharing of her iTunes with your Apple ID.
Copy all the Music she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Copy all the apps she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Export all playlist as xml files from the old computer to the new one.(right click on the playlist to export and "File>Library>Import Playlist to Import)
Sync her iPhone 4S with all content she wants from her new computer (all data from the old computer will be deleted)
Are you sharing Contacts or other data from iCloud?
Be careful or ask for help about moving from iCloud account to another one.

Unless you want to recieve advertising alerts on artists, its just use to send you receipts for purchases and that's it.

  • What would apple do if my ipod touch is broken and is still under warranty?

What would apple do if my ipod touch is broken and is still under warranty?

It depends on how it was broken. Apple are very strict when it comes to enforcing warrantys so unless the damage was a result of a manufacturing error then you have little chance of having your device replaced or serviced without having to pay a fee.
    The warranty states that Apple do not cover;
damage resulting from accident - ie. accidentally dropping it
    liquid damage
    disassembly
unauthorised service - ie. trying to fix the hardware yourself
    unauthorised modifications - ie. "jailbreaking"

  • APPLE, WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY SONGS?!

This isn't the first time something was wrong with my iPod, but this time I can't let my voice go unheard. Today, I wanted to recharge my iPod, so I plugged it into the computer. A couple of seconds later, it crashed. I thought nothing of it, since crashing is one of the things an iPod does every now and then. But when I looked in iTunes, I found that my play lists were wiped, and none of my songs or videos appeared. At first, I thought that it was just a glitch, and ejected my iPod. But when I looked for my songs it said: 0 songs. I looked in my photos: 0 photos. I checked the Settings\About menu and it said: Audio 0KB, Video 0KB, Photos 0KB, Other 6.7 GB, Free Space 8.2 GB. It appears to me that that "Other" category holds all my media for that is exactly how much my photos/video/songs took up (previously had around 80 MB in the "Other" category due to the games that come with the iPod). I do not understand what has happened with my media. Please help me, for I manually added my media to my iPod. Almost all of which was on my older hard drive. I did not bother to transfer my whole library for never thought I would run into a problem like this. As a result, almost ALL of my songs/video are gone; for I only got my new computer a few months ago and only added a few songs to my iTunes library. Please help! Thank you.

A crash during syncing is often the cause of the data corruption you're now seeing. The only way to fix it is to restore your iPod. You've now learned, the hard way, that an iPod should never be the only place you store your music.
I did not bother to transfer my whole library for never thought I would run into a problem like this.
I've heard it said that there are two groups of people: those whose hard drives have failed and those whose drives haven't failed YET. Hard drives will fail. iPods will need to be restored. You can't really blame Apple because you didn't back up your stuff.
You might check out some of the third party software for transferring music from iPods back to computers. You may be able to salvage some. Search the forums for posts by Zevoneer. He has some good advice on the matter.
    Best of luck.

  • Why did Apple make the new iPod unable to use Griffin iTalk or iTrip?

I was so disappointed when I upgraded to the new 5th gen. iPod and was unable to use the accessories I purchased for my previous iPod. Am I missing something? What am I supposed to do? Is there an attachment that will make them usable? Why would Apple make a new iPod that wouldn't include the same connector?

See below your so-called answer to my question.
I also noticed you have marked it solved. If, as a moderator, you can say that your response was considerate of the people using the system then I guess it was solved. If I was to mark it I would say the reply was very condescending and thus worthy of a 1 out of 10 as far as a reply goes. In the future please do not answer my posts as I would like to be treated with a little respect as I'm sure you would like. Please get some other Mod who can perhaps relate to a person's concern. Your answer may be correct but your way of putting it across sounds like some of the 13 year old school children I use to teach.
    You have a good day.

  • What does Apple do with new outdated models?

Lightning fried my mom's PC and she's looking for a new computer. She is looking for the cheapest mac laptop available. The new upgrade to the MacBook that was announced today is nice, but wouldn't really benefit her a whole lot. I am wondering what Apple does with all the unsold MacBooks they had on hand yesterday. They are outdated now. Is there a place my mom can find one of these for a discount? What do all the stores do with yesterday's model?

Another option is to go to the Apple retail store nearest to you and see if there are people returning their week-old MBs due to the new model coming out. The returns will be in pristine shape with full warranty, but will be sold as "refreshed" units for 10% of the list price. These are not units with problems that have been fixed, like refurbs (which I like and buy a lot), but are just people who changed their minds. You'll need to ask a sales person for what they have as "refreshed" in the back. That's the magic word.
    Good luck!

  • What is going on with my iPod classic replacements?

Okay, so I'm on my 4th replacement of my iPod classics. Still having hard drive issues, the songs are skipping the iPod shuts down randomly and it has 0 allocs and bad sectors in the SMART data yet 16 retracts after 2 weeks. I'm also getting excessive vibrations and clicking from the internals all pointin to yet another failing hard drive. I'm furious this was 140 dollar swap for my old dead iPod and every iPod I've had replaced, this being the 4th for hard drive issues. I pointed out the 12 retracts it had on it before even leaving the store to the genius and he said it was fine yet now I'm getting hard drive failure symptoms again. What is going on because I'm so close to writing the attorney general for apple replacing my broken iPod with "new" iPods that I point out to be broken yet these "geniuses" think they are fine

Yep, I think that Genius, deosn't know what a lemon looks like, it is a case of bad lemon sold, since you have already pointed out the bead retract numbers.

  • Lanyard headphones: why did apple discontinue them for ipod nano?

i'd love to purchase the new generation of ipod nano (i need more HD space on my 2nd gen ipod nano), but i have a basic need for the lanyard style headphones. i can't bring myself to wear the old style headphones (i have many bad memories of dropping the lanyard-less ipods).
i have never had a problem with the lanyard design in the 4+ years that i've used them. why did apple stop production?
and, more importantly, does apple have any plans to bring back lanyard headphones in the future?
    thank you.

Since we are all end users like you, nobody here would have the answers to such questions.  Only apple knows.  Either way, I suggest you leave feedback to Apple through one of their feedback channels.

  • Did Apple work with Silverlight team?

Did Microsoft work with an Apple Development team to get Silverlight working on the Mac? If so, does Apple have a dedicated Silverlight team? Any URL references to more info?
    Thanks.

No one here can possibly say what sort of development support, if any, Apple provides to Microsoft on any of MSft's products. I would presume that Msft, as is the case with any registered Apple developer, can obtain help from Apple, but whether they did for Silverlight and if so what sort of help, none of us here will know.
