What discs do i use with a super drive?

What discs do I use in a Super drive to back up my Macbook Air? I am running OS X 10.6.8 and have never done this before.
Thank you

Recordable CDs and DVDs. To find out exactly which types are compatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and look at the Disc Burning section.

  • What browser are you using with OS 9.x?

Would you all please state which internet browser you are using with OS 9.x and the strengths/weaknesses you are experiencing with it?
I switch back and forth between Mozilla and Internet Explorer but fewer and fewer websites work properly with them. If there is a better browser than those two I would add it to my old Wallstreet running 0S 9.1.
Again, what browser are you using with OS 9.x and what are its good/bad points?
    Thanks!

    (Almost forgot
I have an iCab filter set up for Yahoo on my OS 9.2.1 iMac.
For the URL string I use (asterisk)yahoo(asterisk)
For the Scripts filter I use the Netscape identity and have all versions checked except "JScript", and everything is checked in the "Allow" section.
For the Network filter I use the Firefox identity and have the HTTP "referer" set to "Always".
I don't use Yahoo Mail much on that machine, but those settings allow me to use the Address book to select addresses and send messages with attachments. (I'm not sure about viewing attachments, though, and I'm almost positive that address auto-complete doesn't work.)
    Cheers,
    K.S.
    (I use iCab 3.0.5)

Photoshop CS6 should work, as for which is the oldest version that would work on that OS version you may want to do a Forum/web search.

  • What phones can be used with the $60 monthly plan?

For weeks, I have been getting the run-around from the employees in my local Verizon wireless store, who have on various instances insisted that that don't keep track of the specials offered on-line, I couldn't keep my phone number when switching phones, etc.  Yesterday, I was happy to finally reach someone at the customer service phone number who was pleasant and took the time to answer my questions.  I very specifically asked him about the single line plan offered online for $60 a month since I am not looking for a shared data plan and whether it would apply to, not only a smartphone, but specifically an Apple iPhone.  He informed me that it would, and that if they switched me to that plan then and there, when I logged into my account, I would be able to order a new phone and keep that plan.  The website is now insisting that that the $60 single line cell phone plan is not usable with an iPhone.
I'd like to get a straight answer as to what exactly I can use with this plan.  Does anyone know?

What is the $60 plan providing you? I recommend upgrading your phone and then changing over to the Loyalty Smartphone plan for $60 a month that provides you with unlimited talk, text and 2GB data with a $10 overage charge per GB. It requires a 1-year contract extension but if you are upgrading your phone then you won't have to worry about that. Any smartphone will work on this plan, especially iPhones.

  • Known issues with the Super Drive on an iMac 2.7 Ghz

Are there any known issues with the Super Drive on an iMac 2.7 that would result in speed issues and a grinding sound?

Vertically installed super slim DVD drives are not as reliable as a plain desktop burner. I've had one fail in two of three iMacs and have always had an external which I use most of the time. Other than that, the brand new iMacs do not have a Super Drive, so if that is what you are inquiring about, the point is moot. You need to buy an external anyway. As far as speed, I have never used a burner at high speed - unless you have a professional model, you can easily get burn errors when burning at a fast speed; sometimes consumer models do well burning with high speeds , other times not.

  • Recently bought pro retina 15" with a super drive. But when I played a dvd the quality wasn't very good, any suggestions?

Recently bought pro retina 15" with a super drive. But when I played a dvd the quality wasn't very good, any suggestions?

There is a good chance that the DVD is OK and the machine is OK since a DVD's resolution is set for a television and not for a computer with a resolution 4 times that of the tele (at least).
What are you using to play DVD?
What is the DVD and what does it say on the cover about resolution or aspect ratio?
Just because you have a retina Mac doesn't mean you will get an excellent picture from low resolution media, if you are using DVD player use the menu option for 'Actual Size' this will play it at the resolution for the DVD, any larger then it will start to pixelate.

  • Can the usb camera converter be used with a flash drive or scaning device?

can the usb camera converter be used with a flash drive or scaning device?

    No.
iOS does not have scanner drivers nor does the connector supply enough power.
Flash drive would kind of work, would need to have a DCIM folder-probably wouldn't see whole drive(?)
Then again this exists, uses wifi:

  • What DVD-R to Use with Superdrive?

I'm attempting to burn a DVD master and send it off to the replication house. Upon the first attempt, the replication house called and said the disc failed and asked what brand of DVD-R I was using. I told him "Office Depot" and he said they were not acceptable and that I should use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden instead. I got my hands on some Verbatim discs, but my Superdrive won't recognize them. Do I need to get specific burn speed discs to work on my Superdrive (SONY DVD RW DW-U21A)?
    -Ray

From what I can tell, that drive may have problems reading 16X discs. It would need a firmware update to fix the problem. This is not the easiest thing to do for Sony drives (yours is a rebadged Lite-On), as it generally means putting the drive in a PC to do the flashing of the firmware. The latest version of DVRFlash (http://lasvegas.rpc1.org) purports to support OEM Sony drives, but I don't have a Sony drive and have not tried it. It works wonderfully with Pioneers, though.
So, you might see if you can find some older 8X (or slower) discs. This might not be easy, however.
Another alternative would be to replace the Sony with a newer drive, such as the Pioneer DVR-112. They can be found for around $40. IIRC, you'll also need new standoffs for the drive. Most Mac repair shops should be able to get them for you if you go this route.

  • What protection do you use with VG224s?

We have many VG224s in production.  Nearby lightning strikes kill ports on the VG224.
The cabling has protection on it - from the old Western Electric 701 PBX.  However, that switch delivers 52 volts at 39 milliamps, and the Cisco VG224 is much lower.
The protection on the cable plant was designed for the Western Electric switch.
What is the best practice?  When changing out PBXs for VGs, do we have to change out the protection, and if so, what is recommended?

    Hello,
The VG224 is designed for on premises applications which is generally
for internal building use. If you are having issues with lightning strikes
blowing up the interfaces, then it appears that you are using the VG224 as an Off
Premises Extension  with long/exposed cable runs which are susceptible to
picking up RFI and EMI. The VG224 was not designed to be used for OPX use and
we would not be recommending it in environments where cable runs are exposed to
    lightning even with external protection.
Normally you would use an external line driver/isolator to drive the long
distances and provide isolation/protection. These are often called Long Loop
Adapters. Here is an example -
    http://www.telcom-data.com/products/VIK-LLA-1.aspx
Our newer FXS modules support an "OPX lite' mode which drives longer distances
    and has better protection -

    Hope that helps!

  • What tools are being used with WLS 5.1?

I have been experimenting with WLS 5.1 and it is clear that there are many
steps in developing, testing, and deploying EJBs. What tools are being
used? How do IBM's Visual Age, JBuilder 4, and Visual Cafe EE stack up?
Are there any tools for developing and debugging JSPs?
    Thanks,

    Hi folks,
about the "IBM VisualAge 3.02 (Integration Kit)" that Nirav mentions below...
Does this integration kit work with Visual Age 3.5? If not, do you have any tool recommendations for VA3.5 users who are developing apps for WebLogic5.1?
    Thanks,
    Janet

    Mike,
The level of integration between WLS and the tools is as follows (with
VisualCafe being the most integrated) --
    1. VisualCafe Enterprise (or the WebGain Studio suite)
    http://www.webgain.com/Products/index.htm
    2. JBuilder 4 http://www.inprise.com/jbuilder/
    3. IBM VisualAge 3.02 (Integration Kit beta up on BEA website)
    http://commerce.beasys.com/downloads/weblogic_server.jsp#wlstools
All the integration's support development, local debugging, and local
deployment, but VisualCafe has wizards and like which generate code for the
    J2EE specs that WLS supports.
I have read that JBuilder 4 supports JSP debugging but have not tried it yet.

  • What access point to use with O2?

When I connect to the web I have the option to choose how I want to connect (so at home I'll use a WLAN). With O2 what access point are recommended on a postpay contract and does it vary depending on 3G or GPRS reception ?
    i.e. use O2 MobileWeb with 3G?
    Thanks,

Generally "WEB" should be used with a standard access point i.e no proxies etc
check the settings under menu>tools>settings>connection>access points
open the access point you normally use and select options>advanced settings you can then see if any proxies have been added. If necessary delete both the proxy and port
If clear leave as is and make sure your access point name is the default "02" type. Contact them for this.

  • What display do you use with your 2005 Mac mini?

    Hi all,
I was wondering which displays people are using with their 2005 Mac minis and
which (if any) adapters are necessary?
    Thanks!
    Mike

I'm using a Magnavox 15" LCD TV via it's VGA input on my day one mini. The original 2005 minis have a full sized normal DVI output and came with a DVI to VGA adapter. If yours no longer has that, it's the only adapter you'd need for most common computer monitors. Many newer monitors come with DVI already, so no adapter would be needed.

  • What screen do you use, with your MBP?

    Hiya,
im lookin for more screen real estate. what do you guys use? im kind of eyen' the Acds...???
    Thanks.

I have been using a 23-inch Apple Cinema Display for two years now, and I have loved every minute of it!
I have never had any problems at all, and I have had the monitor running solid for those two years.
Before my Apple Cinema Display, I had tried displays from Dell and Samsung, both of which had to be returned due to defects.
In the studio, I connect my MacBook Pro to a Sharp Aquos TV, which has always performed exceptionally well too.
    Good luck!
