Hi All I,m after some info regarding speeds you get on Infinity , what distance from the green cabinet do you have to be to get 40meg speed ? thanks

You'll never see 40 on a speedtest, not at the moment anyway. With a 40meg sync, your profile would be around 38710. On a speedtest you'll get about 37

It's hard to say, I'm between 800 - 1000m I would imagine and get 26Mbps.
31db Attenuation which seems a bit wrong to me, though an engineer told me that so it may be incorrect.
The charts are only a ratio as well with basis of an average line, you may have a bad line or a good quality line.
You could find out but I doubt you will find the volunteers and wish to put months of hard work into it.

Apple TV distance from the wifi router

I have an apple tv that works great in the living room. I have a smart tv in the bedroom which is about another 20 feet from the wifi router. The smart tv has a weak signal. Do you think the Apple tv would work better? the total distance would be about 60 feet from the router.

If you have a Mac, you can stand next to your SmartTY and run Wireless Diagnostics ( About Wireless Diagnostics ) and Command+2 to look at signal strength etc. Here is an example.

What voltage from the motherboard?

In order to use FCP X, I had to upgrade my video graphics card from the original one that came with the Mac Pro (first generation, 2,1). I bought a EVGA 8800 GT board on ebay and also bought the necessary 6-pin power cable.
I installed the board in the same slot as the old card and turned the Mac on. Immediately there was a loud, high-pitched whistle which wouldn't go away until I turned off the computer and removed the card. Then I realized I had forgotten to install the 6-pin PCI power cable from the motherboard to the PCI-e card. I pulled the original card out again and installed the Geforce 8800 again, this time I plugged in the power cable to the 6-pin output on the motherboard (very hard to get to. Too bad you can't pull the fans out like you could with the G5.)
When I powered up again, the same loud whistle. I contacted the seller and he suggested that the whistle is a result of the card not getting power. Although he offered a refund, I told him I wold try again and would also test the cable and see what voltage (if any) I am getting out of it. He also suggested to try the other output on the motherboard.
My question is this: what voltage should I expect? What should I see as the output voltage? Also, is there a difference between the two outputs on the motherboard?

you would need to use a card with Apple ROM though I don't know any success stories using an EVGA 8800GT.
It isn't a matter of power as long as you hooked up the two 6-pin power cables.
for FCP-X, the Apple ATI 5770 is probably more but works fine as is. $249.

Scaling objects and having the distance from the center point remain the same

How do you scale a shape--a square, say--from small to large then back to small and have the distance be the same from the shape's center point?
I'd like to be able to specify the distance and the sizes of the smallest shape and the largest shape and the steps in between.
There must be an easier way than the time consuming method I'm using.

1 Make your smallest and largest square or object
2 make a blend with specified number of steps and specify the number you need.
3 at this point it is not necessary to have them space the finally distance.
4 then make the blend
5 Use the Effects>Distort and Transform>Transform to copy, reflect and move and create a new instance of the blend.
6 Expand the Appearance of the Transform now eliminate one of the large squares using the direct select tool and ungroup the squares.
(you have to ungroup twice)
7 Now holding down the shift key move one of the smallest square to the position you want it to be in the end.
8 do the same for the other smallest square.
9 now select all the squares and use the horizontal center distribute command in the align panel or control panel with the option to align to selection.
That should do it.
Actually simpler then the number of steps indicates.

Don't play any games on your MacBook Air. Use that for your seriuos endevors and just purchase a cheap Windows Samsung or Dell for $500 bucks and use that. Or pick up that Google crap Adroid with a new OS every week for $150 bucks and use that.
But keep your MacBook Air free from any garbage.

What phone from the AT&T store (besides the iPhone) works w/iSync?

I can't find a single phone at the AT&T store that works w/iSync out of the box except for the iPhone. Surely there must be one. The iSync compatibility page shows a bunch of phones, but at the AT&T store they said none were current nor in stock.

Your post doesn't make much sense really. Where did you get the songs from?
If you purchased them from the iTunes Store, then the artwork should have come with the song when you downloaded it.
But since you have not specifically stated that you have purchased from the Store, my question is have you downloaded songs from a different store or from yet another source? If so, did that source undertake to provide artwork?
Have you imported these songs from your own CDs?
MP3 files from other sources, such as (legally obtained) downloads from artist websites etc. do not always have artwork imbedded in them.
Amazon MP3 songs do have the artwork embedded. I assume other MP3 stores also provide the artwork. But then, assumptions are not always correct.
Songs that you import from your CDs do not have the artwork embedded in the CD version. The artwork is obtained for you by iTunes - if you have the setting turned on (see in iTunes, Edit/Preferences/General>>When you import a CD>>automatically download missing artwork) In this situation, if artwork is not supplied, it may be because iTunes doesn't have (legal) access to that artwork. In other words, they don't sell the album, so are unable to supply the artwork. In that case, a simple Google of the album should find the artwork which you can then copy into the album in iTunes.
As a last resort, I use my printer's in-built scanner to scan my CD cover and then paste that into the album's artwork box.

What's with the 3Mbps limitation on DSL, and why does Verizon refuse to offer higher?

Verizon's High-speed Internet website states they have two services offered above my 3Mbps plan. I've spoken to a few people at Verizon's customer service center (including a supervisor), and all are adamant on their stance that they cannot offer a higher service for my area (southwestern PA).
It was stated that the max speed is determined based on the distance from the central office. The thing is, the central office is located in my town, and I'm just under a mile away from it.
According to ADSL2+ specifications, the highest download speed advertised is 24Mbps. The modem I have currently claims it can reach an attainable rate of 17Mbps. All ADSL standards (aside from two oldest ones that are irrelevant since my current 3Mbps is higher than them and Verizon isn't using them) go above 3Mbps. The supervisor I spoke to had no idea what a ADSL2+ standard was, and was unable to tell me what standard Verizon is actually offering; but I could probably find out from the modem diagnostics page or something.
So with all that in-mind, Verizon offers DSL packages that are higher than my current tier (the highest being 7.1 to 15 Mbps), the max ADSL2+ speed being 24Mbps, and the max attainable rate for my modem is 17Mbps with me being less than a mile away from the central office. And even after all that, Verizon is intent on stating they don't offer higher speeds than 3Mbps, and are adamant in stating they cannot provide higher speeds than that.
I'm also on Verizon's Double-play bundle with DirecTV. The speed restriction is even more insulting considering you can't even use DirecTV's On-demand service without the internet speed crawling to a halt. And if the internet is being used prior-to using On-demand; On-demand becomes unusable.
So.. does anyone know what is up with this? I'm paying for "High Speed Internet Enhanced", and I'm getting speeds not even respectable of that (compared to today's standard), paying $44/month for it, and even though all technical aspects say they can bump the speeds up higher; they refuse to.
I can use public WiFi that offers faster speeds for free. I can connect to any xfinitywifi hotspot and get pretty close to double the speeds I'm paying for. Can even tether to my slow cell phone with barely-supported-in-my-area 3G and get better speeds. There's zero reason why a paid landline connection can't go faster than those...
I find the situation pretty ridiculous, and have even filed a FCC complaint about it.

It's possible that you are coming out of a remote terminal or remote DSLAM, rather than a full blown central office. Verizon seems to have an unspoken rule or habit of only provisioning 3Mbps and below to customers on the remotes. To augment that, it's been seen in some cases that they are running Fiber to the remotes, but only supply the equivalent of several T1 circuits rather than OC-3 Fiber or better.
To find out why the speeds are being limited, we would need to know what kind of DSLAM is in use, and how far you are from the nearest Verizon CO. The attenuation you have suggests you're one mile of wire length away from the source of DSL, which is either an RT or a CO. From that point, we would also need to find out what kind of connectiivty Verizon has running to your DSLAM.
If you're coming out of a CO instead, it's also been seen that Verizon has a habit of selling only 3Mbps out of congested COs or those with lesser connectivity running to the CO.
The thing you can do, is pressure Verizon into giving you at least 7Mbps. With those stats you should have no problems at all. It's going to take weeks of pushing to get the job done, but it is possible. I'd start off by calling Techincal Support, who would be able to assist with this. Emphasize to ignore the availability database - this is just a bunch of records controlled by what Verizon wants to input in.

Selecting Inputs From The Firebox In Logic

Good morning all!
I'm a new convert from Garageband to Logic Pro 8 as I can imagine many people here are too.
My quick question involves the Prosonus Firebox. In Garageband when I started a new 'real instrument' track, I had the option (located in the bottom right of the screen) to choose what input from the Firebox I wanted to record from. Mono 1, Mono 2, Stereo 1/2, Stereo 3/4, etc.
Where can I make that choice for input from the Firebox in Logic 8?

Channel strips for audio tracks have input and output boxes where you can choose where they take their input and where they send their output.
The input and output settings are above the fader, and below the plugin insert slots on each channel strip.
By default, the output is probably set to "Output 1&2" (your main stereo output) and above that is the input, which you can choose any single input from your audio interface (for mono channel strips) or pair of inputs (for stereo channel strips).
Have a read through of the manual about channel strips if you're not sure of how to do this.

No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

iPhones require a SIM for activation.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore via iTunes.
