What do I do about a corrupt jar file at C:/Program Files (x86)/MozillaFirefox/omni.jar!/chrome/browser/content/browser/places/content-ui/controller.xhtml.

Mozilla Firefox is my default browser, but the page doesn't load and I get the message that Mozilla can't find the file at Jar file. I was told to check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors. Then check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted. When I checked the file, I was told that it was corrupt. I use Mozilla Thunderbird and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my e-mail and address book, etc.

It didn't work, but I can reach sites that I have a link to on my Desktop. I haven't had Mozilla Firefox very long and I don't even remember what should appear when I select it. Any other thoughts? I appreciate your reply irregardless. At least I am now backed up with a new restore point. Many thanks bens545

I tried this solution without success. After FixIt ran and didn't find a problem, either in looking for issues with "software upgrade" or "iTunes" it kindly offered to help me uninstall iTunes. I had thought of this as a possibilty but it seems to me that if you do that you lose a lot of "non-native-to-Apple" information you might have entered. I did this once and recovery was painfull. Is there a way to uninstall iTunes without losing all of that sort of thing? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know when this started but I can't seem to remedy it. I've updated several times but have not uninstall/reinstalled FF. I'd like to do that only if I have to because I'd like to keep my saved info if possible. I'm not computer illiterate but I'm not a tech either so I need fairly basic instructions if it's at all possible.

Creating a JAR File for a program that depends on other JAR files

Hi, I'm pretty new to this so it shouldn't be terribly hard to answer:
I have a program which uses JGoodies. There are 2 JGoodies .jar files in the same directory as my program. So I compile it by doing:
javac -extdirs . NameOfMyProgram.java
First off, is this the best way to do it? Is there any way of 'calling' these JAR files from within NameOfMyProgram.java?
Secondly, if I then try to run it by doing java NameOfMyProgram, it doesn't work; can't find the JGoodies stuff. I end up having to add the classpaths of the unzipped JGoodies directories.
So I have 2 questions:
1. How can I execute my file so that it reads from the JAR files, not the big expanded folders that I unzipped?
2. How can I create a JAR file that reads the JGoodies files properly? Right now, I have a Manifest.txt file that looks like:
Main-Class: NameOfMyProgram
Class-Path: forms-1.0.5.jar
Class-Path: looks-1.3.1.jar

Browsing on an iPad, the search bar + cart Infos are hidden on the right hand side of the page (I need to scroll to see it). Depending on your target audience and the devices they uses, it might be an issue if they can't complete the order process because they don't see where the cart is...
Apart from that, the design overall strikes me as clear enough to be browsable, IMO it does the job!

How to redefine function in nsLoginManager.js inside omni.jar

I would like to redefine a function. I find the definition inside omni.jar in the file nsLoginManager.js. If I rename omni.jar to omni.zip, I can see the contents, but if I try to drag an updated nsLoginManager.js to the archive, Windows 7 complains the archive is corrupt. I tried putting an extra copy of nsLoginManager.js into the components directory, but it did not override the other definition.
How can I edit omni.jar to include my new nsLoginManager.js with my updated funtion?

Yes, I have successfully extracted the contents already by that exact method. However, I fail when trying to update the modified file in the omni.jar as Windows 7 complains the archive is corrupt. Alternatively, if I make a new .zip for all the files including my modifications, Firefox fails to launch.

3rd gen Shuffle Corrupt? What do I do about it?

A message popped up the first time I plugged in my Shuffle saying it was corrupt...What does that mean and what can I do about it? It won't show up in the Sources so i can't restore it. it does show up in my computer, though.

I have the same issue with my ipod - it happened yesterday. It was working fine when I added a couple songs but when I listened to it later in the, it stopped -died. I presumed low battery. Went to charge it using the same dock used that AM to load the songs and it wasn't recognized by iTunes or the PC. I ran an iTunes update, made no difference. I tried other usb to test PC and that is not a problem.
When the Shuffle is powered on, it gives a green light for 3 seconds then a couple ambers, that's it. *This iPod was just purchased 10/31/07.*
I called Apple service (which was excellent for a Sunday AM) and they said to send it back; it's beyond user repair. Can't do any of their suggested troubleshooting ideas if the PC cannot see it. There is no USER FIX for this.

This is a MacBook Pro 15" (Model number A1286) running Mavericks. Hard drive is fine but system software has been corrupted. I cannot simply restore from Time Machine as it will copy the corrupt system.
Will I have to find all of my serial numbers before I can launch any of the programs?

So what is installing all about?

Probably a stupid question. Almost any time I get a program, I have to install it. Now, I've taken two java courses, gone completely through the textbook Java Software Solutions by Lewis & Loftus, but I have not learned a wink about users installing things. All the programs we've done work straight away without any installation.
So now I've got to wonder what exactly installation is for and how it is programmed. When I first started programming, I had kind of assumed that I would be making programs by now that the user would install.

I ended up having to visit an Apple Store. They claimed that the update must have aggravated an already corrupted hard disk drive. The solution was to wipe my hard disk (fortunately I had recently backed up on Time Machine). The "Genius" also claimed this was the first time he had come across the problem. Although he was clearly able to diagnose it straightaway, and the next person he saw had exactly the same problem with his Mac, and I saw an awful lot of customers queuing up with their Macs and iMacs looking very suspiciously like they all had the same problem! So clearly Apple know what the problem is but as usual treat customers as if they're idiots in order to cover up the problem. But at least the problem is now solved (although having to take at trip out and wait in a queue at an Apple store, and then restoring from backups is a painstaking inconvenience I could well have done without). All I can suggest is that you might as well take it in. None of the "solutions" on the Forum are remotely on the ball, and all Apple "Geniuses" have clearly been told what the problem is and how to fix it. Good luck!

Issue: For no apparent reason Dreamweaver crashed. When I attempt to restart the program it begins, but quickly stops.
Clues: About two weeks ago I noticed that some of the icons within Dreamweaver stopped displaying. It didn't seem to affect performance so I ignored it. Also, I tried starting other programs Fireworks, Illustrator and got another error:Your user privileges do not allow Fireworks to update your registry.
What should I do about this?

Many "just started happening" problems can be solved by clearing the program cache and/or restoring preferences...

If those do nothing, it may be time to do a clean and reinstall with the Adobe Cleaner Tool:

It is likely you are running some out of date third party so-called "system maintenance" application that is corrupting the very preference or cache file that runs that feature. Resume can be controlled in the item highlighted in red below in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> General if the system is otherwise functioning as it should. Please make sure we have enough space in the system drive(where the system OS installed), perform a cleanup of that drive(ensure we have ), then take a try to boot into
