What do i do after i connect it to Wi-Fi

it won't let me go no futher than that. why is that?

Looking at Settings -> Wi-Fi -> your network -> tap the (>) icon and does your network configuration information have valid information?
Such as, an IP address which is generally of the form 192.168.n.n or 10.0.n.n, or maybe 172.16.n.n or very similar.  If it starts with 169.n.n.n that would not be good.
Does the router match your IP address except for the last digit (which is generally a n.n.n.1)?
VERY IMPORTANT, is there a valid DNS address?  Sometimes you can get a valid IP address, but a bad DNS server address and as a result you cannot translate any domain names into IP address to access anything on the Web.  Sometimes the DNS server is your router.  Sometimes it is another address all together, and that is difficult ot guess.
As an experiment you can try substituting a known working DNS server address such as one from OpenDNS or Google DNS services:
OpenDNS.org
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Google DNS
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
If using these work, then there is a problem with the default DNS server provided by your router or our ISP.  Look at what is configured inside your router if it is providing local DNS server.

    what do i do after downloading iOS 3.1 software and "There was a problem downloading iOS 3.1.1 software update for ipod touch. an unknown error occurred (8288). Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again." comes up?

    Hello, I hope by now you have resolved the upgrade issue, but if not, here is what I ended up having to do:
    “SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
    Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:
    “Hi all,
    I got an iPod Touch 1st gen for my youngest son for Christmas as a starter. It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
    I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
    I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust. I know this is the oldest version, but I don't want to buy a newer, more expensive iPod and him still not be mature enough to really take care of it. As I said, this one is a starter.
    Can anyone help? Please?!
    Thank you!!!
    P.S. We have a PC, with Windows XP Home.”
    Now, there seem to be a lot of different ways to solve the 8288 error, none of which are universal. Best of luck getting yours upgraded!
    Tiffany
    P.S. The post by Sparkhi is a link to his blog going into a long story about how he wanted Apple to pay him for “solving” the issue….the one that apparently has been solved by multiple solutions. I’m not trying to bash, it just bothers me that he put up this whole story and finally, at the very end of his blog post, posts his solution.

    Take a look at this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5036467?tstart=0
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
    iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
    Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
    To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
    In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences(PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
    Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
    On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
    On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
    For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, seeiTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.
    For more information on other security software, see iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues.

  • TS1538 What do I do after step 6 in "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed"?

    i'm very confused about step 5, "Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed" > "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed", what do I do after step 6? I looked for and found the entry that recognizes the device as a camera, "Apple iPhone, now what? I'm trying to resolve an issue. After an iTunes upgrade in July 2012, I have not been able to get my iTunes to recognize any of my devices. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, all the steps. Now I'm on this one and I don't know what to do after this step 6. I looked and found the entry.... now what??? I am out of room on my phone because everything I buy on iTunes on the computer mysteriously appears on my iPhone 4, and everything I buy on my iPhone mysteriously uploads onto my iTunes the next time I open it. My phone will charge when connected to the computer, and Windows recognizes it and asks how I want to open pictures, etc. But in iTunes it will not show up under Devices. This is getting beyond ridiculous and I have to get some of this music off of my phone!

    Found a possible solution for me.
    While the phone was plugged into my computer and iTunes is CLOSED.
    1. I went to Services in Windows.
    2. I selected Apple Mobile Device and right clicked and selected "Stop".
    3. Then I right-clicked again and selected "Start".
    4. Then I went to Device Manager and right clicked my iPhone with the yellow alert icon and selected "Uninstall".  You will get a warning about uninstalling the device.  Click OK.
    5.  At the top of Device Manager I clicked the Action menu and selected "Scan for Hardware Changes".
    This re-installed the iPhone and everything started working again.

  • ITunes crashes after I connect iPod touch

    Hi,
    My iTunes crashes after I connect my iPod touch. It doesn't even get to the point where the iPod icon shows up in the left hand panel. The crash report is below. My iPod SW Version is 2.2 (5G77a). I'm using iTunes 8.0.2 (20).
    This did not happen the last time I sync'ed my iPod, and I haven't updated my iTunes and iPod software since then. The only anomalous thing I can report is that when I was directly downloading some podcasts into my iPod (Ver 2.2 now allows this), that several did not successfully download and I had to abort the downloads. The podcasts showed up in my iPod podcast directory but with the time as "--:--". I retried downloading them into my iPod, and they did download successfully, but the old, aborted podcast entry was still there. So it looks like some of my podcasts have 2 entries in my iPod, one that was successful, one that was not.
    Since I have no way of deleting these aborted podcasts directly from my iPod without iTunes, I'm stuck. Help!
    Robin

    I went through the process of reinstalling iTunes, but that did not work. Apparently one or more of my iPod podcast directories were corrupted, and iTunes just threw its hands up. So, I just decided to do a restore. I had to do the "Recovery" type of restore (turn off the iPod, then connect to the Mac laptop, while holding down the Home key) so that iTunes would do a restore.
    I thought I'd lose some of the podcasts that I had downloaded directly to the iPod that I had not sync'ed back to iTunes. But the Recovery Restore reinstalled the iPod firmware, and left the data files on the iPod intact! This is NOT what is advertised - the Restore message in iTunes tells you that you will lose the data on your iPod. Can't promise that iPod data will NOT be destroyed on a Restore, but this is what happened to me.

  • HT1339 My Ipod causes my PC to shut off completely...any help? I was trying to restore it because it erased all my content when i tried to add a few new albums...Now it shuts off my computer minutes after I connect.

    Before I got to this point, I unsuccessfully attempted to restore my IPOD a couple of times and tried to reload my music but to no avail.

    Hello there khary9,
    I have an article that talks about troubleshooting USB ports that may be helpful in this situation. Named iOS: Troubleshooting USB connection it can be found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286.
    Once you determine that your computer has a USB 2.0 connection, use the following steps to troubleshoot the connection between the device and the computer. Test after each step:
    Update to the latest version of iTunes.
    Plug the device directly into a high-power USB 2.0 port on the computer. If possible, use a USB port on the back of the computer.Avoid plugging the device into a keyboard, display, or standalone hub. The USB ports on these accessories may be low-power or only offer USB 1.x connections.
    If you are using an accessory, remove the device from the dock and connect it to the computer using only the Apple USB to Dock Connector cable.If you have access to additional Apple USB to Dock Connector cables, try testing with another if the first one doesn't work.
    Restart your computer and device. To restart your device:Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.
    Disconnect all USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then reconnect the iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect other USB devices, testing after each connection.
    Another article describes what to do if you are using Windows and see an unknown error containing "0xE" when connecting your device.
    If the issue persists and you are using virtualization software to run another operating system alongside Mac OS X, quit that software; it may create virtual USB ports that may be causing the issue. Or you can try to control or restrict access to USB ports while running the virtualization software.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • My ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. I do?

    please help me my ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. what I do?

    Hey saintbless,
    Thanks for the question. The following article outlines troubleshooting information for iPod nano. While it mostly refers to the 6th generation, most steps apply for your model as well:
    iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
    Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    - Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    - If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    - If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    - If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • What are the normal settings to connect to wifi?

    I visited my friend over the weekend and her school required me to change my airport settings in order to connect to the internet. Ever since I got back, I have been unable to connect to my usual wifi source. If I can, it drops off after a few minutes. What are the normal settings to connect to wifi?

    As a minimum, the following would be the "normal settings" to connect your Mac to an unsecured Wi-Fi network. These settings can all be found in System Preferences > Network > AirPort or Wi-Fi > Advanced
    TCP/IP tab: Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    Proxies tab: Nothing should be checked on this tab, except the "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" option.
    Hardware tab: Configure: Manually
    On the Wi-Fi tab, you may also want to delete any Preferred Networks that you are not using.

  • What happens to data after formatting hard disk?

    Hi, I'm currently have a iphone and ipad... and is running my iTunes on Windows OS.
    My question is, what happens to the data in apple products after I format my harddisk and reinstall iTunes. Will the data get lost after I connect my apple products to the newly installed iTunes?
    Data of concern:
    Downloaded Applications --> Do I have to download them again in iTunes?
    Music --> Will the music be overwritten and removed during Sync? (I suppose the same applies to Photos and Videos)?
    Contacts --> Will my contacts be removed?
    Thank you very much in advance for any useful feedback. (:
    Cheers!

    HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
    what happens to the data in apple products after I format my harddisk and reinstall iTunes.
    As long as your photos, music, contacts, and videos are reinstalled on your computer, all you have to do is connect the iPad and re sync everything.

  • Trouble syncing iPod after initial connection

    We just purchased a 5th gen iPod, and we're having some trouble getting it to sync with our Mac mini Core Duo. When we connect it via the included USB cable, it will appear on the desktop, trigger iTunes to start up, and perform a sync. However, the problem arises if we try to manually sync the iPod again after that first sync. When I go into iTunes and right click on the iPod and select "Update iPod", iTunes hangs for a minute with no indication that the iPod is syncing. If I try to right click on the iPod and select "Options", I am able to choose different options, but after clicking "OK", iTunes hangs for a minute and then reports "Preferences were not safed for the iPod "xxxxxx" because it could not be found." Basically, it seems like after that first sync, the iPod disconnects and will not reconnect.
    Additional notes:
    * I have tried the "Five R's", although the "Reinstall" part did not work - when I tried to run the iTunes installer, it told me there was "nothing to install". Presumably because I already have the latest version of everything.
    * I did put the iPod into diagnostic mode, and it passed all tests successfully.
    * Even when the iPod fails to sync, it does continue to charge... so it appears that the connection is at least working somewhat.
    * If I set the iPod into Disk Mode, it seems to work fine. However, to do this, I either have to use the key combination to force it into Disk Mode, or REALLY QUICKLY set up the options to do so while it is performing its initial sync after being connected. As I said before, after the initial sync happens, and the iPod disconnects, I can't save any of the options.
    * When I connect my 4th Gen iPod via the 5th Gen iPod's USB cable, it exhibits the exact same symptoms as the 5th Gen iPod. That leads me to believe the problem is not in the iPod itself, but possibly in the cable, the mini's USB port, or in the software. I have tried plugging in to all four USB ports on the mini with the same results. The 4th Gen iPod works fine when plugged in via FireWire. And of course the 5th Gen doesn't support FireWire, so I can't try that.
    Any suggestions?
    Mac mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   2gb RAM

    You're not alone. I have the exact same problem as
    you. I had a 3G iPod before and it worked perfectly.
    I'm glad to hear that someone else is having this problem. I'm totally baffled as to what the issue could be. I'm going to list every place I think there could possibly be a problem, and any steps I've taken to rule it out:
    1. Hardware problem inside the 5th gen iPod.
    - I have run all of the self-diagnostics, and they passed with flying colors. The iPod plays back music, photos, and video just fine. Also, I have the same problem with the 4th gen iPod, when it is hooked up via USB2. The 4th gen works fine when hooked up via FireWire.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    2. Hardware problem with my USB cable.
    - I took my iPod to the Apple Store and hooked it up using their USB cable, and experienced the same problem. Also, the iPod charges normally in any case, and it syncs over my USB cable just fine if it's in disk mode.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    3. Hardware problem with a USB port on my Mac mini.
    - As noted in #2, I took my iPod to the Apple Store and hooked it up to one of their Mac minis, and it had the same problem. Also, I plugged the iPod into all of the ports on my Mac mini and got the same results with all of them. All of my other peripherals work fine on all of the USB ports (printer, card reader, camera, mouse, keyboard).
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    4. Hardware problem on my Mac mini other than the USB port.
    - As noted in #3, I had the same problem when I hooked my iPod up to the Mac mini in the Apple Store. Also, I have run the Apple Hardware Diagnostics CD on my Mac mini and it did not come up with any problems.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    5. Problem with the iTunes software on my Mac mini.
    - As noted earlier, I experienced the same problem when hooking up with the Apple Store's Mac mini. Also, my 4th gen iPod works just fine when connected via FireWire.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    6. Problem with the Mac OS X software on my Mac mini.
    - As noted earlier, I had the same problem on the Apple Store's mini.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    7. Problem with the Firmware on my iPod.
    - I had updated my iPod to firmware 1.1.1, but even after downgrading it to 1.1, I had the same problem. And I'm having the problem on my 4th Gen iPod when it is hooked up via USB, and it has a totally different firmware.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    8. Problem with the iTunes music library on my Mac mini.
    - I reset the iPod using the iPod Updater, wiping out all of its data. I then created a fresh user on Mac OS X, logged in to it, and connected the iPod. That user had no iTunes library at all, so other than the preferences, no data was being synced to the iPod, and I STILL had the same issue.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    Ok, so all of those are not the problem. So what could the problem be? Well, let's try a few theories:
    Theory A. This is a problem that affects all Mac mini Core Duo users who are syncing iPods over USB2.
    - If this was true, wouldn't we be hearing a lot more complaints? I suppose if most of the users had their iPods set to disk mode, then they would never notice the problem.
    Theory B. Um... I don't have any other theories.
    I've thought about taking the iPod back and swapping it for a new unit, but based on all of the troubleshooting I've done, I don't see how that could make any difference, since I'm experiencing the same problem with my 4th gen iPod.
    Anyone want to take a stab at it?

  • What driver do I need to connect to Brother MFC-9325CW

    what driver do I need to connect t0 Brother MFC-9325CW?

    I believe the Brother drivers are included in the OS installation. Try installing the printer. As you go through the process the Mac will tell you if it discovers the printer. That tells you do not need a driver.
    If this is a new printer being connected for the first time, I personally prefer to connect with a USB cable and complete the first steps. Wireless printer connections are much more work, and can be done after you have a functioning printer.

  • Reconnecting to channel set after lost connection

    Hi there,
    I am beginner to flex and I have a problem with to login after the connection to the BlaseDS has been lost.
    Setup:
    The flex client calls a HelloWorld Java service exposed using spring-flex.  This service is called when the user hit the Hello World button on the UI.  The channel set on which this service is exposed is secured and for now we will resort to programmatic authentication.  (The user does is not required to input his username and password, just to simplify it a bit).
    As a client framework Cairngrom is used and an appriopriate delegate is setup to handle the remote object call.
    Here is a snippet from the HelloWorld delegate class called after the user hits the Hello World button.
              public function getHelloWorldMessage():void{
                if(!__service.channelSet.authenticated){
                    var token:AsyncToken = __service.channelSet.login("username", "password");
                    token.addResponder(new AsyncResponder(
                        function(event:ResultEvent, token:Object = null):void {
                            Alert.show("You are logged in", "Login");
                            // Send the amf request to the backend.
                            var token2:AsyncToken = __service.getHelloWorld();
                            // Add the responder.
                            token2.addResponder(__responder);
                        function(event:FaultEvent, token:Object = null):void {
                            Alert.show("You are NOT logged in", "Login");
                }else{
                    // Send the http request.
                    var token2:AsyncToken = __service.getHelloWorld();
                    // Add the responder.
                    token2.addResponder(__responder);
    The __service is the Hello World service has been defined as follows.
    <mx:RemoteObject id="helloWorldServiceRemoteObject" destination="helloWorldService" channelSet="{helloWorldChannels}"/>
    <mx:ChannelSet id="helloWorldChannels" >
            <mx:AMFChannel uri="http://localhost:8080/helloworldservice-war-1.0.0.SNAPSHOT/messagebroker/amf/" />
    </mx:ChannelSet>
    What happens:
    User clicks on the Helloworld, the program hits the getHelloWorldMessage and the ChannelSet.login("username", "password") is called.   The channelset authentication flag is set to true, and the _authAgent present in the ChannelSet class which was previously null is set
    The success handler is called and the secured spring function returns the "Hello World" message.
    I restart the BlaseDS server to simulate an intermittent connection.
    Now the user clicks on Hello World button again and recieves an error since the authentication flag is still set to true there is no attempt to login again.
    The following FaultEvent is caught
    faultCode=Client.Authentication
    faultString=An Authentication object was not found in the SecurityContext
    The user reclicks the Hello World button this time however the ChannelSet.authenticated  is set to false and the client code attempts to reconnect however fails.  The snippet below is an extract from the ChannelSet.as, when the user reclicks, the second condition is met and the  IllegalOperationException with error message "ChannelSet is in the process of logging in or logging out."  is thrown.  The condition is met since the _authAgent is not null.
    public function login(username:String, password:String, charset:String=null):AsyncToken
            if (authenticated)
                throw new IllegalOperationError("ChannelSet is already authenticated.");
            if ((_authAgent != null) && (_authAgent.state != AuthenticationAgent.LOGGED_OUT_STATE))
                throw new IllegalOperationError("ChannelSet is in the process of logging in or logging out.");
            if (charset != Base64Encoder.CHARSET_UTF_8);
                charset = null; // Use legacy charset, ISO-Latin-1.
    Does someone have any ideas as to how to resolve this?
    Regards,
    Mark

    bump! Anyone knows how to solve this?
