I installed Yosemite and now my computer is slow when logging in. Also when I type my password, a bar appears measuring the process and then all of a sudden the screen images are distorted. After that my home screen appears and everything seems normal. What can I do to fix this?

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

My device only displays the Diagnostic Mode screen. Don't metter what I do. I've tryed to update itunes and reestore with latest software a few times, but it always comes back on the Diagnostic Mode screen. What's wrong?

I have started my computer in safe mode as recommended but not long after the grey Apple icon appears with the spinning gear it automatically shuts down! any suggestions?

Which "disc menu screen" are you talking about?
Are you talking about the installation menu screen that comes on when you first put the installation disc in your computer's disc drive?
What operating system are you working on? If Windows, have you manually gone to Windows Updates, set the option to download Microsoft Updates and downloaded all of the available updates, including the ones that don't download automatically? -
I used to be able to attach a document to an iCal entry. After the latest update, it appears this option has been removed. How can I add an attachment now? Thanks!

Yes, iCal 4.0.4 (1395.7). In edit mode, the 'attachments' option is between 'Invitees' and 'URL' (see below). As I said this is for calendars under On My Mac, I suspect you are not seeing this as your event is on MobileMe.

For the past five weeks, iCloud has not recognized my automatically downloaded song purchases as songs within iCloud. After the songs download, they appear with the ominous striked out cloud next to a duplicate song with download cloud. To get a fully functional song library that I can use to iCloud playlists and use all the other wonderful features of iCloud, I have to delete the automatic downloads and download the new version by clicking on the iCloud download icon. This is tedious. I have considered just turning off automatic downloads, but I rely heavily on my television shows downloading while I'm asleep and being ready to watch when I wake up.
If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate your help. I'm sure I did something to goof it up.

I've recently upgraded my window 7 desktop with a 64 bit OS. I have installed Thunderbird v31.4.0 and am unable to find the checkbox(?) to turn on message sync. My other computer had a previous version of Thunderbird and the checkbox was located on the 'disc space' screen (at the top). When I upgraded Thunderbird on that computer, my email sync continues to work (but I don't know how to control it).
HELP...???!!!I think your talking about synchronization and storage, an account setting entry only IMAP accounts have. Likewise, Disk Space is a pop mail only entry

normally you could try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back. But since the sleep button is unresponsive, try to restore "as new iPhone", if necessary without using the backup afterwards, in case the backup contains corrupt data.

Hello!
I have a MacBook Air. I have got a software update notification couple of days ago. I've clicked on it today, and it started installing updates.
But, I have got a notification telling that not all updates were installed successfully, then I have clicked on "Restart" from the notification box. Then my Mac restarted and the white screen with Apple logo and the update progress appeared (like what always happens during updates).
The problem that while the update progress reached around half the way, my Mac shutdown. I tried many times to turn it on, it turns and the same white screen appears and the update starts again and shuts down.
Please Help me!

You did not state whether you installed the update while on battery (not mains) power. You are warned not to apply certain updates without being connected to a charger & mains power.
Also remove any attached peripherals.
Reboot in Repair mode (command-R at start) and use Disk Tools-Disk Utility-Disk First AId to repair your disk, and as long as you're there repair permissions. Next quit Disk Tools and reinstall the OS. After completing that successfully reboot, log in and do a combo update.
You must have more than enough (not just enough) empty (free) disk space for the update. -

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain LionI just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation. My computer did have the faulty part you linked to. I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager. Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge. They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test. They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above. I've never had this experience before. Even brand new, I got occasional crashes. Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow. Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed. Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...

The power comes on. Screen turns white. The start up sound plays, the apple symbol come up the loading bar show up but do not show any sign of loading. The loading circle appears and spins. Then the loading bar disappears and the. The screen goes black and power goes off. I've tried unplugging, command alt escape, and command alt p r, no effect. Any other suggestions???

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:

the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

My iPhone was a contract phone then. I used it in India by using gevey sim. After 6 months, I unlocked the phone by factory unlock. Then I upgraded my phone from 4.2.1 to 6.0.1, after that sometimes the carrier signal will not appear and a message "restore needed" appeared often. One day I realize that my flashlight was not working. After a week, again same message"restore needed" appeared. I just restarted my phone, it came to the recovery mode. I connected to iTunes to restore it, but it showed an error. What to do now?
Your problem is that you've hacked your phone to unlock it. Apple warns that if you do this things may not work properly or work at all. Unfortunately, there is no support for hacked iPhones here, per this forum's terms of use.

My jailbroken iphone 3gs was recently system restored and now it's stuck on the emergency call screen. I dont have a at&t account but i do have a tmobile account. I'm such a noob at this so what do I do next cause I don't wanna accidently crash it again?
Your phone has be re-locked to AT&T. One of the downsides to hacking an iPhone is that updating software or restoring the phone will re-lock it to the carrier it was originally locked to. You'll have to get an AT&T sim to activate the phone, otherwise you'll only be able to make emergency calls to 911.
