What do i do if i want to download mac os x 10.6.8 and i have 10.5.8. I want the newest itunes but i cant get it due to the fact that i have an old computer
downloading mac os x 10.6
Exactly how old is your Mac?
If it is an old PowerPC CPU Mac, then OS X 10.5.8 is the highest OS X version that can be installed on that Mac.
If your Mac is an older Intel CPU Mac, then you can install OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on that Mac
To find out info about your system,
Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left of the OS X main menu bar. A drop down menu appears.
Click About this Mac. A smaller popup window appears. This gives you basic info like what version of OS X your iMac is running, the speed of your iMac's CPU and how much RAM is installed.
Click on the button that says More Info. A larger window appears giving you a complete overview of your iMac's hardware specs. Highlight all of this info and copy/paste all of this into another reply to this post, editing out your iMac's serial number before actually posting the reply.
This will tell us everything about your iMac so we may begin to help with your iMac issues.

recently my ipod touch 2nd generation screen hasnt been turning on at all,i've tried the home screen button and power button but even that doesnt work,... i have updated my itunes to the newest version but i cannot sync it without unlocking my passcode how can i go into recovery mode or simply back up my ipod if there is no way to unlock it?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

I have replaced my ibook hard drive but when I start up I get a folder with a flashing question mark. I have tried installing the OSX disk using the "C" key but can't get any further than the flashing "?." What do I do? What is the problem?
Which iBook do you have?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1772?viewlocale=en_US
Which version of the OS is installed, and which version are you trying to install?
You could try starting up with Startup Manager and see if it will allow you to select the OS X install disc as the startup disk. If so, maybe you can proceed from there. I would recommend repairing the hard drive first since you are evidently having a bit of a problem with it. -

My Deskjet990cse printer only prints the sample page but I cant get my resume to print.
Please read this post then provide some details. What operating system? Are there any error messages on the computer screen or blinking lights on the printer? What program are you using to print?

No help can be provided if no details about the problem are provided.

That's a matter of opinion. But honestly, the only crap is the pointless post whining about iOS7 and the user that cannot be bothered to provide sufficient information to get help in resolving their iTunes update issue. -
just tried to install itunes but it wont open without numerous messages saying the above code is missing any ideas guys
Hello, SNEAKYSNEAKY2ND.

It's possible that you meet hardware requirements, but OS X Mountain Lion is only compatible with some computer models. In the case of the MacBook, it requires a Late 2008 Aluminum or Early 2009 one. See > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
Also, note that Mountain Lion requires 2 GB of memory, so if your Mac model is supported, open > About this Mac, and see if you have 2 GB or more of RAM -
I am trying to update a 4s. The update did not work for some reason. Now I need to restore the iPhone. When I connect the usb to the computer and phone it says I need to restore. So, I click to restore. It starts extracting the software. But I am continually getting the same error message that it cannot complete for unknown error. I have been working on this for 5 and a half hours. I'm tired, mu husband needs his phone and apple support is a joke and of course I can't find any answers anywhere. Please help!
Hi MB2751,
As an iPhone user myself, I know it must be very much a problem to have the phone out of service because of an error such as you are seeing. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I am trying to download the latest iTunes update; keep getting error message that says "The folder path 'My Documents' contains an invalid character". This also happens when I try to uninstall iTunes. HELP!
OK, never mind! I saw another question on the right side that addressed the problem, and it worked perfectly! Went to Major Geeks' page, downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and was able to reinstall the updated version of iTunes! This community is super!
