What do I do if my Ipod was stolen?

My ipod got stolen a few weeks ago. I do not have any gps app installed other than the one given to you. But i do have alot of personal information on it. Like my email and all of my social networks. Is there anything I can do to at least block them from that information or more importantly track it and possibly get it back??

Change your iTunes password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wiipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

My IPod was stolen about a month ago. I reported it and have been looking for it but i have had no luck. I don't know what else i need to do. Would Apple replace it?

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.

  • HT5787 What do I do if my iPod was stolen and I checked my support profile and when I entered the serial # I got a message saying it has been registered to another Apple ID? Is there a way to find out that Apple ID so that we can locate the iPod?

What should I do if my iPod has been stolen and when I checked my support profile and entered my serial # and I received a message that the serial # had been registered to another Apple ID account? Is there a way to find out the Apple ID that it was registered to? I have already checked find my iPod and it shows my iPod is offline. I have already filed a police report.

No, sorry, there is no way you can get that information. The police perhaps could, but it would probably require a court order and it's unlikely the police will go to those lengths unless they have reason to believe that this theft was not an isolated instance and hence worth more of their time than the single theft of an iPod.
Even if they got the ID, it may well just be yours. Apple's registration database often contains such errors; I get the same message for some of my devices when I know I registered them to my Apple ID and the devices are all still right here.

  • What can I do when my iPod was stolen while in flight mode?

    Hello,
so my hand bag with my mobile, my camera, some other things and my iPod touch 2G was stolen while it was in flight mode and stupid as I was, after restoring it and updating the iOs to 4.3.1 or so, I didn't install "find my iPhone" Is there any chance to find it via the registered serial number?
Does iTunes save/send the IP-number when attached to a new computer? And if not, why doesn't Apple provide this possibility? It would contribute to the "Find my iPhone" app.
Besides this I have set my iPod to only work with a 4-digit security code, but I've read on the web that it's quiet easy to remove the code and that then it's quiet easy to accsses all the data on the iPod
I'd be very thankful for any help given on this issue, as all my credit and debit cards were in that handbag, my id card, my drivers license, a (to me) very important lucky charm given to me by a person I love and miss so much (that's the biggest loss to me) and the iPod is the only trace I could find.
    Thank you.

    There is not.

It does not.  Only Apple knows as to why they chose not to implement such a feature.

It is easy to remove the passcode, but it requires the user to restore the device to factory settings in iTunes, which would in turn remove all data from the device. It's actually quite difficult to get at data stored on an iPod with the passcode enabled.  You would need to be pretty knowledgeable with the device and how they work in order to obtain any of the data.

The only thing you can really do is change any and all passwords to accounts you may have used or set up on the device for security reasons.  Other than that, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

My ipod was stolen, can I find out what the serial number of it is, based on looking at a connection history in my itunes? How would I do this? I didn't register it. I think I found the guy selling it, just looking to confirm the serial number and I'll make a phone call to the police.

    Yes.
Open iTunes on the computer you used to sync the iPod and select Preferences… from the iTunes menu.
Select the Devices pane. Position the cursor over any of its backups. The iPod's serial number will appear in a popup window.

  • My ipod was stolen what can i do to get it back

My ipod was stolen out of my backpack and i want to see if i can get it back. What are some ways and how can i get a serial numbber off itunes

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod (Settings>iCloud) and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and and go to FIndMyiPhone. You can also wipe the device, and have it play a sound .If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - Apple will do nothing

    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

You report it the the police and give then the serial number. All they really do is know to whom to return it to if it is recovered.

  • What does unregistering an ipod do?My ipod was stolen and i was wondering if unregistering it would delete everything on my ipod?

My ipod was stolen when i was at school. I didn't have a passcode on it, and i really want to make sure the theifs don't have the opption to look at all my personal info, pictures, and events. I have taken steps to attempt to protect myself, but i was wondering what unregestring your ipod does/purpose? thanks for answering my questions.
My ipod touch is a 8GB, older ipod touch (no camera, older ipod touch, maybe "2nd generation"??)

    What do you mean "unregister"?
I am not sure that this is a thing.
There is nothing you can do but report it to the poilce and change your passwords.
If you did not passcode lock it, then the thief can look at everything on your ipod.

If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled). Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. Then contact the police, giving them any location information you get.
If you did not set up Find My iPod, then there is no way to track it. Notify the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPod (the iTunes Store, for instance).

  • Today my iPod was stolen! But I also use iPhone, and both of them are registered in the same Apple ID!

Today my iPod was stolen! I also has the second Apple device (iPhone). Now I worry a lot cause what ever I did in my iPhone, it duplicated in my iPod (contacts, notes and so on!!!!!! How can I avoid this process now?????? All my private data are not saved now! I have changed all passwords in my accounts (email, ebay, Facebook), but how to fix it with Apple Messanger, Viber, WhatsApp???? Please, help me! Thanks in advance!

You can all have independent AppleIDs for iCloud or iMessage etc, but share the same one for iTunes Store / AppStore purchases.

  • My Ipod Was Stolen, and now it won't restore!

Dear whoever gets this desperate post,
My ipod was stolen about 1 month ago. By some strange strokes of luck, I got it back from the police today. I am trying to restore it, thereby subsequently re-loading my songs on it. But I am stuck. I plug it in, it eventually notices it's there it gives this message:
iTunes has detected an Ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this Ipod before it can be used with iTunes.
Seemed natural enough, given what I was told about the dimwitted thieves. So I hit "restore." I wait for it, quickly getting the message that it has been restored, and I should wait until it restarts, then load the music on it. But it doesn't. I wait a minute or so, and it comes up with msg #1 (^ see above). I tried the instructions offered in the sticky topic at the top of the menu page, but even with the drive changed to I (I checked, it still is), nothing is improving. Help!
