What do i do if the battery life isn't what it should be?
I got my Ipod in late January or early February as a late xmas present, and since then it's become the closest thing to crack I can think of. However, I never really listen to it for more than say a 1/2 hr in the am another 1/2 hr in the pm. Maybe 2-3 days during the week I'll plug it into my computer at work and almost never watch video on it. I've run the battery test w/almost default settings, but the battery life seems to be around 6 hrs. Why is that? and what should or can i do about it?
Make sure to run the most current updater on it and then re-test it.

Yes, the 3g iPhone is an amazing piece of technology with MANY features....but I simply cannot use them and expect it to be a dependable functional telephone at the same time. For years, I have had phones that remain on standby possibly for days, make lots of calls, do lots of texting, browse the net...etc...you get the point.
I purchased the iphone for the push feature, the 3G feature, the wifi feature and the ability to use it as a telephone ......dependably. I work on-call and need to have a phone on at all times day or night. I charge my phones overnight but still have NEVER had a phone lose a charge as quickly as the iPhone does.
Apple's solution right now is to turn off all the features that make the phone so attractive in the first place.
I suspect that I am like a lot of others in that I did not buy this PHONE (yes, it is a phone after all and should have adequate battery life to serve as a phone) to selectively and actively take the time in between calling, browsing, etc. to remember to turn wifi on and off, turn my 3G network on and off and then manually push email. This kind of defeats the purpose.
Is there something Apple can do to remedy this situation via software updates or are some of has hoping for a pipe dream that simply will/cannot happen? I know with the first iPhone there were updates that dealt with battery life. Does anybody know what the formaer updates did physically? I hope something can be done with the 3g version, because right now it is not usable and may need to be returned.
Any software/hardware engineer types out there who can advise if this is indeed a fixable thing or should I return the phone? I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to keep this thing, but as it is now, it is totally not usable for me.

Message was edited by: Woostiwa2I suspect this is your first 3G phone and if so, this is a common problem with all 3G phones and a big complaint. Other 3G phones have a swappable battery which having is a requirement. Since the iPhone does not have a swappable battery, an extra wall charger or keeping the wall charger handy is required. Or having a computer nearby with a USB port along with having a vehicle charger.
If you aren't interested in turning off available features to conserve battery when needed or wanted, and you use your iPhone regulary for web and email account access via 3G, the battery won't last the day - which is the same for any 3G smart phone. With no swappable battery, if the other alternatives are not acceptable, you should return it. -

Mine is better. You will find thousands of discussions about battery life with every version and every upgrade and between upgrades over the past 7 years. Nothing is different with iOS 7. Rather than me repeating what must have been said tens of thousands of times for this and every other version try searching the forum for answers. Start with "More Like This" to the right.

I have never been so disappointed with an Apple Product such as the Iphone 4s. When I signed up with a new 2 year contract, I received my iphone 4s. I charged it fully the night before, then it didn't even last the day (with minimal usage). I turned off Location Services, Wi Fi, and Bluetooth, this helped a bit. But what is the point of turning these services off, when I NEED THEM!!! The wonderful new Siri doesn't work properly without Location Services turned on.
So I upgraded to the iOS 5.0.1. version - that did absolutely nothing to assist the battery life.
Apple, what are you going to do about it? My new Apple phone is a LEMON!
If I had of known how bad the battery life is on the iphone 4s, I would have got a Samsung Galaxy 2!!!!!It doesn't really matter whether I am talking to Apple or not (and I'm sure they monitor these comments), I want everyone to know how bad this new iphone 4s is, and all of it's problems.
Apple have already launched an upgrade to the software - it obviously did not help, as many around the world would concur.
As far as being patient and waiting for another "update in the works" is concerned, it is just not satisfactory. This is not a cheap phone, and those who are experiencing these problems, should not have to be paying a substantial amount of money, for a very smart phone, that obviously, has some serious problems. -
I upgraded my macbook pro from OS Lion to OS Mavericks. When unplugged, it heats up exceedingly and the battery life is extremely short. What to do?
Installation of the new OSX is very heavy hdd load, in addition spotlight reindexes all the files on your computer - it may be a few hours. If in the future will be the same macbook hot, you should contact your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider.
May be required to clean notebook cooling system.
You can also install any monitoring utility sensors to your mac such as Hardware Monitor and look at the value of the temperature sensors.

What is wrong with my phone if the battery life is draining while the phone is in the lock position?
Last night my phone just started getting extremely dim and I had it on the brightest setting. It was so dim you had to look at it under a light just to see what was on the screen. It then proceeded to lock down. I plugged it in but it would not charge. Finally, after almost an hour of being plugged in it finally started charging. It is acting completely normal except that it is constantly warm and the battery life keeps draining even when it is not in use. Does anyone know what is wrong with it? Can it be fixed? Normally, how much would this cost me? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

My iPad 2 is only 7 months old and is draining battery life quickly some days and others shutting off at 40% - 50% and when I turn the iPad back on it keeps turning it self off continuously. I have a feeling the battery could be faulty, what do I do?

my sons ipod toucj has a lock with a circle arrow around it (next to the battery life) what does this mean?
that would be the rotation lock
it can be activated and deactivated by double clicking the home button (round button at the base of the ipod)
and if you swipe along the bottom from left to right
you should see the same symbol on the left.

I asssume it's a laptop!
1st I would run it right down & then do a full recharge, then run it down again + a full recharge..
Check that you do not have any apps running in the background, reset PRAM..
When all's done I usually run a movie & time how long the battery lasts..if after that & no joy call Apple Help.. -

Take a look at this to make sure your settings are optimized to the best it can be.
If all else fails, try and restore through iTunes, set up as a new iPhone and manually sync your apps and media back to your iPhone.
If still persists after this, you might call Applecare and see if they can run a battery diagnogstics.. -
I am getting weary of my iPhone 4s. The battery life is non-existent, secondly, I had problems with calls, the caller couldn't hear me and now it cannot detect internet networks. Be they Wi-Fi or cellular. what could be the problem?

Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data. -

Screen orientation lock. Double click the home button to bring up the recent app bar. Then finger swipe left-to-right to bring up the iPod controls. The icon on the far left (circle with lock in it) is the orientation lock button - press it, and the lock will go away.
