• Problem: Flash update on Mac OS 10.411

A few days ago I was prompted to update Flash Player (youtube videos had suddenly stopped playing on the old version I had) and went ahead and did it. I go through the installation process and as far as I can tell nothing goes wrong. But I still can't watch videos online and the same message is always displayed "you need to update Flash, etc."
I have Mac OS 10.411 which I guess is 64-bit. I have Safari 4.1.3. I can't update Safari any further with the current OS. I can't download newer versions of Chrome or Firefox.
What I've done so far x 10:
-run the uninstaller
-run the installer  ["Flash Player 10.3 for Mac OSX 10.4-10.5 (Intel)" on the installation page]
-checked http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
to test if any older versions are still installed on the computer. Just says "missing plug-in", so I guess not.
I see under system preferences that version 10.3.183.10 is installed, which is the newest version the site gives me.
Thanks for looking at my question. Anyone know what to do?

We both have Tiger installled otherwise known as  os 10.4.11, as well I have safari 4.1.3  and flash  10.1 , I believe flash 10.3 will not work with OS 10.4.11 (its for a higher version of lion or leopard or something)
Make sure box in preferences advanced tab "show Develop menu in menu bar" is checked as I mentioned before and then do a 10.1 flash download in that order, I think I read  flash 10.3 is too high for safari 4.1.3 and Flash 11 is definitely too advanced for Tiger,  as well Tiger can not run Firefox or Chrome as a browser, thus the need to get a version of flash that works on your OS Safari version ..hope this [email protected],   FYI: You should google the error message that pops up in quotes along with your os version for good search results of any issue.

I have the same problem!
I also have mac osx 10.4.11(intel) and was asked to upgrade to the latest flash player...but when I did, suddenly couldn't load/watch any videos.
Tried the same things you did, to no avail (uninstalled and installed flash player 10.3 over and over, and still nothing)..it's as if i didn't install it when I did.
And because of my os version, can't avail of the archived flash players on this site
Help please!
I tried fixing my Safari preferences but still doesn't work.

• The latest Adobe Flash Update for Mac OS stalls on installation at 30% download

The latest Adobe Flash Update for Mac OS stalls on installation at 30% download.

• What can I try next?  Adobe Reader on Mac not working. Repair installation/"shut down running..."

I am trying to fill out a form online which will not open and it says that I should install the latest version of Adobe Reader.
I have downloaded and tried to install Adobe Reader 9.4 on my Mac Book Pro.  (computer software including Safari have been updated)
The form still does not appear on the screen, so I tried have been looking into what is wrong with Reader.  One issue is when I select "about Adobe Plug-Ins" it seems that most of them have not been loaded.  i.e. "Acrobat Accessibility"
Not sure what to do so I selected to "Repair Adobe Reader Installation" and this is what comes up:
"Select the optional components you would like to repair..."
This is what comes up:
"Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin View, fill-in and collaborate on Adobe PDFs within Safari"
I select that and then this message appears:
"Please shut down running applications
Adobe Reader requires Safari to be closed before it can install or remove the selected components. If you are running Safari, please close the application and then click OK to install selected components or remove unselected components. You may also press Cancel to install the selected components at a later time."
I have closed all running applications that I can think of and the message will not go away after I press "ok".
What can I try next?

I tried this:
Manually uninstalling a plugin
If you can't use an uninstaller program to remove a plugin, you can remove it manually:
In the Location bar, type about:config and press Return.
The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
Search for the preference: plugin.expose_full_path.
Double-click on the plugin.expose_full_path preference in the list to change the value to true.
''''''''''' '''''Enter about:plugins into the Location bar to display the About Plugins page.
Each entry in the About Plugins page will have "File name:" followed by a path. Navigate to the folder shown for the plugin you want to remove.
Rename the file to something other than its normal name - e.g. npswf32 becomes Xnpswf32''''''''''''''''
Double-click on the plugin.expose_full_path preference in the list on the about:config page to change the value back to false to avoid exposing the plugin path to websites.
The plugin will be removed.
I can't select the file name to change it. It's just a list.

• With the latest flash update and on firefox 13 when I scroll on pages with youtube videos or other flash content it become corrupted.

When I actually play the videos it's fine, the issue only occurs with still images. This doesn't show up with vimeo videos.
The images should explain more

After

This does not occur with other browsers with the latest flash update.
The problem also shows up even with add-ons disabled and testing it with a new profile.
Does anybody have an idea with how to fix this, or is it a problem on adobe's end?

I've fixed the problem by installing the older version of Flash Player (v11.2.202.235).
- First, download the uninstaller from [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html here].
- Close your browser(s).
- Run uninstaller and remove flash player.
- After the uninstall process, download and install the old version from [http://www.oldapps.com/flash_player.php here].
Note: Download "Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235 (Non-IE)" if you are using 32 bit OS
Or
Download "Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235 (x64) (Non-IE)" for 64 bit OS.

• Download Adobe Flash update on Mac with Yosemite

I am attempting to install the Adobe Flash update on my Mac Book Pro with Yosemite.  On every attempt the download bar stops at 30%.  I have uninstalled Adobe and reinstall it and I get the same result.  I would appreciate help in resolving this issue.

I just downloaded the installer... took all of 3 seconds to download.  It's only a 1.2MB file.
Check to see if it has downloaded it anyways.  Should see something like AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_17au_Itrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg if it's there, quit Safari from the menu bar, run the installer.
If it's not there, try a different browser.  If that works, it's something in your Safari that's stopping it... could be an extension you have installed or adware.
You can also try a direct download from the Adobe site: (Under still having problems)

• Genuine Adobe flash update for mac?

Hi, I've just heard about some kind of virus or malware that poses as an adobe flash update and I noticed excessive prompts to update over the last few weeks so I'm wondering if someone can please confirm whether the update prompt in the attached screenshot is genuine. Thanks!
Well that's just annoying... when I try to attach the 115kb TIFF file i get the error message "[The content type of this image is not allowed.]"
A little help?
Message was edited by: Mataczar

Hi Mataczar,
It seems that your image attachment is not allowed. Try pasting a different file format.
Also, try asking this question in Flash forum. Somebody there will be able to answer you better.

• Can't Install Flash Update on Mac

Can anyone help me? I can't install the Flash update on my Mac OSX. I keep getting the error message "Installation failed. Not enough permissions to write to disk." When I click "Try again" I get a screen that says "Connecting" but the percentage complete stays at 0% and nothing happens.
I've uninstalled Flash and tried to do a clean install and nothing works.

So, either you're attempting to install Flash Player from an account that does not have administrative permissions (unless this is your work machine, this would be abnormal), or some of the permissions on the filesystem are messed up.
I'd recommend starting with the Disk First Aid section here:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck - Apple Support
While you're there, also run Repair Filesystem Permissions (Verify will often times return a clean bill of health, and then Repair will still fix a bunch of stuff).
Once that's done, please delete the installers you've downloaded, and pick up a fresh copy, here:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If it continues to fail, it would be helpful to get your installation logs:
Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on the Macintosh?

• What do I do next?! Need help?

Ive just recently bought an ipod nano and im not able to use it, v frustrating!! My ipod connected fine, i then went to download itunes and was told that it isnt compatible with Windows Me, which I have. I then downloaded the XPlay 2 software which is compatable and updated windows media player and it still wont work!! Ive tried to copy a cd to my ipod and it seems to copy fine but does not appear on XPlay 2 on my ipod. I then tried to copy another song that I downloaded from the internet and a note came up saying I do not have the MP3 codec required. Any codecs you can download are only compatable with windows XP, what do i do next other than update Me to 2000 or XP??? Please help me!!

Based on the requirements listed on the nano packaging you are going to have to switch your Windows to either XP or 2000. Unless someone can give you a way to get around that (and I'm sorry to say that I highly doubt it) it's something you are unfortunately going to have to do.
Hopefully things work out for you.

• Update my mac 10.5.8 to 10.6?

What do I need to do to update my mac mini from 10.5.8 to 10.6?

homairafromvacaville wrote:
what if my macbook is built in 2006?
The original poster said they had a Mac mini, if the Mac mini is an old PowerPC based model then it cannot run Mac OS X 10.6. Both 'late' and 'early' 2006 models of the Mac mini had Intel processors and hence should be able to run Mac OS X 10.6.
All MacBooks have used Intel processors and hence all can run Mac OS X 10.6. No PowerBooks or iBooks can run Mac OS X 10.6.

Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
