What do I do when a different foreign email address comes up while restoring?

I backed up my phone to computer and to Icloud as I was having mine replaced at the Apple Store. I went through all the motions for restoring and entered all my passwords but a different email also keeps coming up requesting a password. My restoring stopped after i canceled the message and I can not get all my photos or music and my apps are all stalled in restore/update mode. Does this have something to do with the phone, I am assuming is refurbished from apple as a replacement or is it this foreign email address that is holding everything up??

Whether it was new or refurbished, the process is the same. When you restore your iCloud backup, your data and settings are restored to your phone, then your purchased media is redownloaded from the iTunes and App stores. Before this purchased media will be redownloaded, however, you have to provide the password(s) for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the media. In other words, the passwords that are required are based on the purchased media that was on the phone that was backed up; it has nothing to do with the new (or refurbished) phone.

UDPATE:
Spoke with Express lane, and issue was escalated. Kudos to the support guys that handled this one (Brian and Yi). Went through everything in detail and took all the crash dumps off the iphones and ipads to send to engineering.
After backing up the contacts, the recommendation was to delete all contacts in iCloud. Doing that caused my iCloud to crash (in the browser), so more crash dumps were sent to apple.
Eventually got all contacts deleted, then did a resync. Looks like IOS devices are coming back to life and syncing again.
Also, Outlook iCloud connector has just been updated to ver 1.0.1 so i installed that on their recommendation.
BOTTOM LINE workaround:
1. Backup contacts
2. Delete contacts in iCloud
3. Delete accounts on IOS devices
4. Recreate accounts on IOS devices.
Hoping a real root cause can be found and real fix implemented. This has caused me to doubt the stability of iCloud, so i will procees with caution.

If you have just added an address to your account then it will be an alternate email address - a rescue email address can only be added by answering 2 of your questions. You will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

This is not something on your end. If they send an iMessage it will arrive as an iMessage, if the send an email it will arrive as an email.
THey are sepearate services that cannot be mixed up.
Tell them to send you an email, rather than an iMessage.
If they are using the messages App it will always arrive as a Message.

By default, the email address that you last used will be automatically displayed in the Apple ID box, leaving you just the password to enter. Just change the email address and enter your password an you should be fine. Note that you may see that old email address pop up a few times more - here, in the iTunes store, etc. - but if you've changed both all of your purchases, etc., should be linked to your 'new' Apple ID.

All apps are tied to the Apple ID they are purchased with and is not transferable.
Delete app and download app with your new Apple ID.

IF you forget your email and password and you are stuck in the activation process, it usually gives you a clue on what is your email like w********[email protected] If you really own the phone, you already have a clue on what is that email add. Then go to appleid.apple.com, click on manage my device, enter what you think is your email addy (no harm in trying that it wont lock) then click on i forget password. This will give you an option to either sent the password to an alternate email. If you have several, then sad to say you have to open it one by one and check including your spam mails. Another option is to answer some security questions you made while creating an apple id. Your last option is to call apple support. If you know the email add and you can prove ownership, they can reset the password for you

I think you are probably referring to the email address being automatically converted to an active hyperlink. You can remove this by opening the Inspector, clicking the hyperlink icon (second from the right) and, in the Hyperlink tab, after selecting (highlighting) the address, uncheck the box next to
"Enable as a hyperlink." Or, to disable all hyperlinks, click the box at the bottom of that Inspector window next to "Make all hyperlinks inactive."
To avoid this in all documents, open Pages Preferences and, in the Auto-Correction Preferences, uncheck "Automatically detect email and web addresses."
