What do I do when Final Cut Pro 4 crashes when loading audio filters?

When I try to start Final Cut Pro it crashes while loading the audio filters. I have upgraded through the years to FCP HD but trashed that and reinstalled FCP4.0. I also trashed preferences file and everything else other forums suggested. I ran preference manager but no luck. It hasn't opened for several months. I am running OS X 10.4.11 on a dual 1.8 GHZ Power PC G5 with 2.5 DDR SDRAMM. Thanks in advance for any help.

I downloaded Audio Manager and disabled the plug ins it found(which were in a different file folder) and lo and behold FCP loaded. I guess now I need to enable each one at at time and find out which is the culprit. Thanks for your help.

If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the appropriate version of FCP Rescue at http://www.fcprescue.com and run it.

2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.

Final Cut Pro crashes when starting app

Hi there - Some of you may remember that I had Final Cut pro v.2 and could not install it on my new G5. So... I went out and bought a v.4 upgrade. I went to install it today and have the following problem:
When Iaunch the program, it crashes..EVERY time.. I can install it without any problems, but when I go to start Final Cut Pro, it gets to the point of loading audio files and CRASH... the app shuts down.
The only clue that I have is that when I start the computer after installation, I get a security messages saying that there is a problem with the security of a startup item..specifically library\qmaster. I click FIX, restart the computer, but when I try to start Final Cut, the same problem pops up - it crashes.
Help please!!!!!

The only thing I've loaded that didn't ship with the computer is Audio Recorder 2.2. I can try killing that and see what happens...

On edit... the last thing I see is LOADING AUDIO FILTERS... not files as I said previously...

Final Cut Pro crashes when video is added to the timeline.

I have Final Cut Studio 5, and every time I use Final Cut Pro, it crashes when I add video to the timeline.
I meet all the system requirements, have all the updates, have trashed preferences, and have also uninstalled and reinstalled the software.
Everything else in Final Cut Studio works fine. What should I do?

The codec for the sequence is "DV/DVCPRO- NTSC". I converted a .mov file to a DV movie, and Final Cut worked just fine when I put the file into the timeline.
So this solves the problem, but I have one question. Am I going to have to always convert files into this format now? Or is there a way I can import the files without it crashing?

When I try to Show Events Library in Final Cut Pro, it crashes each time. Please tell me how do I work around this problem?

Try creating a new (temporary) folder and putting all your events in there - then launch FCP X.
If you can open the Browser, then it's possible one or more of the clips in one of your events is corrupt. Close the app and move the events back into their original places one by one (re-starting FCP X each time). This will help you find the event which has the corrupt file in it.
If isolating the events has no effect, I suggest you trash your preferences.
Unexplained faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and perfectly safe, both to download and use).

With Preference Manager, you can backup the Prefs when FCP X (or any of the Apple Professional Applications) are working normally. Then when either of the applications are acting strangely, Trash the Preferences, then Restore from your backups (just a mouse-click).
If you trash the prefs and don't restore them, you will need to manually restore all your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then your backups are up to date.
Doesn't fix every problem, but it fixes a lot.

When I open FCP, the loading screen comes on. During the loading, FCP closes. There is no error message.
I have already tried the two solutions posted as announcements on the top of the FCP forum:
1. I have deleted unnecessary Quicktime components from (Library>Quicktime).
2. I have downloaded the most recent software update.

A solution from an earlier post solved my problem. I deleted the Final Cut Pro preferences ("Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs") (MAC HD> Library> Preferences> Final Cut Pro User Data). FCP opens now.

just made a personal version of the keynote title in FCPX and saved it. it appears in FCPX but it is obviously unable to read it and the title thumbnail appears as a single blue screen, if this is added to project FCPX fails miserably and crashes, yes a blue screen of death on a mac. how can i stop this or edit a title and save it correctly.

i did the 'open a copy in motion' for the existing title in FCPX.
when i have finished with the title in motion, i save it then go back to FCPX, the saved title is there but only as a blue thumbnail, if that is added to the FCPX project, FCPX cant read it correctly and crashes.

When exporting as a quicktime movie, final cut pro crashes about 3/4ths the way through the 12 hour process. I'm saving it to a La Cie 500 GB disc by fire wire. It's worked before but after I converted one SD sequence (that was shot in HD)to a HD sequence, I haven't been able to export it and it won't play straight at anything bigger than 25% size. Please if you have any advice I won't forget it. I'm trying to export as ProHD 1060i.

Possible corrupted project or media fies. Here's what I'd suggest.
First trash preferences. If that doesn't work…
Move your Final Cut Projects folder into a folder named Hidden Folder. See if FCP then launches. If it doesn't hide your Final Cut Events folder. Once FCP launches successfuly, create a test event and project.
To track down the problem, successively move load events and projects from hideen to their proper location and open FCP. When and if you get the crash you have hopefully located the problem.
The easiest way to do this is to purchace Event Manager X ($5).

I have just started up a new project.
Every time I try to ad a clip in top of each other a "general error" shows up. The sequence viewer turned red and it displays that I have to close and reopen the window to restore.
The only "new thing" I do - is the use/brand of camera.
Now I use the canon D5 mark 3 for my project (before D5 mark 2)
What's wrong??? Do I need to update my Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 And how do I do this???

Did you use Log & Import? Or did you at least convert the D5 files before importing? FCP doesn't work with those files natively.

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...

using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
