What do I do when my ipod classic freezes?
My 80 gig ipod classic is frozen, what do i do? It won't turn off or do anything!
Try a hard reset. To do this, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together at the same time long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Try this more than once if necessary.

What do I do when my iPod classic locks up
What do I do when my iPod classic locks up?
Reset the iPod.
To do this, turn the Hold switch on, then off again and press-and-hold both the Menu and the Select (centre) buttons together for at least ten seconds. You may need to try this a couple of times for it to work.
If it still doesn't fix it, try the 5Rs procedure, which is explained in the following article; http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/ -
What do I do when my iPod Classic won't restore?
I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help me with my question!
I only bought my iPod Classic about a year ago brand new, not used! I noticed that it had been freezing up a lot and one day it just froze completely. I left it alone and it turned off by itself and by the time I turned it back on it had erased EVERYTHING off of my iPod. I went online onto the Apple Support and decided to restore my iPod. Once I tried to restore it it said "There was an error that occur 1409." I tried to restore it one more time and now my computer can even find that there's a device (my iPod) plugged in. I took it up to the Apple store once where the young man there told me that there was nothing I could do and that I would have to just buy a whole new iPod altogether. I really hope this is not the case and I do hope that someone on here will be able to help me out!
Thanks so much!I find it difficult to believe that the iPod cannot be restored correctly, or that it has "had it".
Try another Restore. If that doesn't work, check this page; http://www.apple.com/support/ipodclassic/how-to/ -
What do I do when my iPod touch freezes and I turn it off and it won't show anything?
I looked at my Ipod touch and the screen was all white.
I pushed both of the buttons and held them like I was told to,
and it went off and won't show anything...
I don't know what to do to turn it back on....- Let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful then time for an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store. -
HT1320 why does my iPod classic freeze up when i plug it in to my computer
why does my iPod classic freeze up when i plug it in to my computer
It's not a "fix," actually. If that is a 4th gen iPod connected using USB, you need to do what it says and plug it in to the white square power adapter that originally came with those models. Later Apple power adapters should work; third-party adapters may or may not work. It has something to do with voltage. The USB connection to computer does not provide the required voltage (although it's obviously fine for normal syncing and charging).
If that iPod is connected to a FireWire port, it apparently provides the required voltage, because that step does not come up during the Restore. That model was a transition between iPod connecting to FireWire and connecting to USB. Earlier models required FireWire. Later models only used USB.
If you don't have an adapter, and there is an Apple Store nearby, I guess you could take it to the store's Genius Bar. I'm sure they have a power adapter there, to complete the Restore. (Just don't let them re-do the Restore on a Mac, if you use a Windows PC. Different storage formatting.) -
What do I do when the iPod touch asks to be plugged into it ouch and nothing happens. The PC asks to use password on iPod touch and it can't be done.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -

What do YOU think that "factory settings" means?
Not quite, because you can still redownload all your purchased apps and music. And everything that is synced from applications on your computer such as your calendar and your contacts can be resynced. -
What does it mean when your ipod is in recovery mode and how do I solve this problem
What does it mean when your ipod is in recovery mode and how do I solve this problem?
Unless you have a backup from which you can restore, yes you will lose all of your data and settings.
You should be able to sync your content back to the iPad if you have been syncing with iTunes all along. If you don't sync with iTunes, you can download much of your paid content again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID. This explains downloading past purchases.

Unfortunately, at this point, you must restore the device before you can move on. There is nothing you can do to avoid it now. -
What does that mean when your iPod only charges when you battery dies? (meaning: when my battery isn't dead it wont charge but when the battery is dead thats the only time it will charge)
- See:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
