What do I need to be able to remote desktop into my pc server at work from my mac mini?
I just bought a new Mac Mini and I need to access my PC at work (Windows 7) through my work server. Is there a app or download avaible for this?
Microsoft has a version of Remote Desktop for the
Mac. It is available through the MacApp Store.
Reviews aren't all that great, but it is free so it
can't hurt to give it a shot.

Hi there, I'm thinking of buying both a new MacBook Pro and a small 22 inch LED tv for my kitchen... what would I need to be able to use (wireless of course) the tv as a monitor for the new computer? Apple tv? Airport Express? something else? Thanks.
Hi a,
http://www.mctiviausa.com/
There has been "talk" on and off of Apple TV doing it (and people have done it with a hack), but I haven't really followed it.
It would be a whole lot cheaper getting an adapter (as needed) and cable and simply pluggin it in when you're in the kitchen. -
Hi! What do I need to be able to listen to the music of my iPod in my car? Thanks!
Hi! What do I need to be able to listen to the music of my iPod in my car? Thanks!
You can hear your music of your iPod from your car via Bluetooth or by a USB port (maybe located in your car) and connect it with the cable.
If your car doesn´t have does two things, you can do it by accesories: http://store.apple.com/us/search/Belkin-TuneCast-Auto-with-ClearScan?mco=Nzk5NTQ 1Ng# -

what do i need to be able to watch HDTV .. tv?!?!?!?!?!?You're going to need an adapter so that you can plug into the UK's unique plug configuration. I believe the UK runs at 220 V and the US 110, but the iPhone plug adjusts for that. You do not need a converter.
But you need to buy an adapter into which you would plug your US charger, so that you can plug into the UK style outlets. A travel store will sell them for a few dollars. Don't buy the expensive ones, because they contain converters, which aren't necessary these days for higher end electronics.
Apple sells one for the iPhone and iPod:

It's kind of pricey, but really nice.
Of course, you could buy an Apple USB charger at a UK Apple Store! -

My client with autism needs to be able to speak/sing into a microphone and simultaneously hear his voice through a headset, preferably with reverb set on high. Is it possible to do this with the iPad and OS7? If so, what setup do I need? I have a SM58 type mic and-over-the ear headphones.
This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference. -
I am trying to include a Mac Mini with a webcam/microphone to call several family iPhones 4S/5 usisng email addresses vice phone numbers so that we can communicate from outside the US via iPhone to the US (Mac Mini) via wi-fi and email addresses. We are using the same email address for the Mac Mini as for Itunes and made new email addresses for each of the iPhones. I cannot receive calls from the iPhones but can call the iPhones from the Mac Mini. what needs to be corrected?
Thanks.

what type of hard drive replacement should I use to replace the hard drive on my first generation mac mini model a 1103? G4 1.25 mhz 40 gb hd 1 gb. mem.
You'll need a 2.5" parallel ATA interface hard drive. Most are 5400RPM, forget 7200RPM drives and slower 4200rpm drives. You don't want a serial ATA (SATA) drive, as that has a different connector and won't work.
One source I've used for drives is Newegg, and their parallel ATA hard drives are at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007605%2060000344 2&IsNodeId=1&name=IDE%20Ultra%20ATA100%20%2f%20ATA-6 . Newegg also has many user comments about the drives. Other sources are OWC at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ (Click on ATA on the left) . Look for at least a 3 year warranty. -
I have several friends and family who are looking for a central place to access information from ( Pictures, home movies etc ). So I am considering setting up an OSX Lion Server. There are some other things I can use it for as well.
Here is my question:
If I were to purchase the Apple Remote Desktop with Unlimited licenses, would I be able to install the client software on each of there computers/laptops and have them remote desktop into the server? Or would I have to install the Admin software on each? Do they intend it to be used strictly as one admin to access many clients?
I always could set up a network drive so they can log in and just see the folders they have created with space on the server I provide them. But I want them to be able to log an and actually use it as a Remote Desktop.
Thanks,
EricDave,
Thanks for the feedback. I understand that ARD is meant for Remote Administration, but I was not sure if it could be used for my purpose as well. The reason I was looking to do it this was was because I read several articles online about security and performance issues with setting up VNC and activating screen sharing. Unless I am misunderstood.
As far as people's activities on the server, mostly it is going to be used as a place for them to store their media. I will only allow own person ( Who I trust and I know wont botch the server ), to run applications. Everyone else will be restricted to uploading and downloading content to their designated account on the server as well as a community share on the server.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks,

can someone tell me why a standard microphone doesn't seem to work with a mac-mini? Is there another kind of microphone I need to use?
Most microphone output a low voltage signal that must be put through a preamp.
The computer needs to have a line voltage signal level instead.

What permissions are needed to be able to view requests?
Hi OIM gurus,
Let's say a user logged in and requested a resource and it was assigned and provisioned to him/her. A request id is created in OIM. Now, what permission is needed for another user (an admin) to view this request with this request id? I see that if an admin is member of "SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS" group the admin is able to view the request details, but it is not working if the admin is member of any other user groups. I tried to add this other user group on the Resource object under Administrators, as well as Object Authorizers, and also in the Process Definition Administrators. But it doesn't seem to work.
Could someone help me with this?
Thanks a lotThanks Martin. I kind of followed it up into the code (ofcourse using Jad) and ended up with the Stored procedure XL_SPG_GetAllowedRequests which is called to get all the allowed requests for this user. From this, it seems like the admin (or his group) has to be one of the approvers of the request and then he can view the request. If he did not approve he cannot view the request.
There was a bug fix around 2 years back (like you mentioned) that extended the base requirement (of SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS user group) and at that time they might have added the call to get allowed requests.
I will leave this thread open to see if someone has any other thoughts to get around this.
