What do I need to do to move photos to another PC?

What files do I need to move if I want to move selected pictures, including my LR edits, to another PC?
I realize I could use the LR Export function, but I just want to move files outside LR using the Windows Explorer.

"Export the xmp data, move the images and xmp data (if RAWs), then re-import."
I assume the XMP files need to always be in the same directory as the images so when you re-import LR can associate them properly.
"Or, wait until this becomes easier."
What do you mean by this?

Hi, Can you help me I am running an iMac 10.7.5 and iPad 6.0.1 and a macair10.8.2. iCloud is syncing emails and notes but not photos. Photo streaming is switched on on the iMac. what do I need to do to stream photos?

Hi you have basicly 2 Options.
1 -if you Switch One fotostream on all 3 devices of yours which are working on the same apple id -all Fotos you Take with your iPad will be synchronized via icloud to the other 2 decvices ( w-lan and battery depending).
2- If you select foots or a whole album in iPhoto on your air or iMac and choose than puplish --> fotostream --> new or existing event you can key in a friends mail. If this friend has iCloud and iPhoto ( for iMac or MacBook ) and click on the link in the email it will download this fotos in the fotostream section in iPhoto. If he has a iPad, iPhone,... It will do it in the foto app and if he doesn't have a iCloud account at all and you choose "public web site" while publishing he can see your fotostream on a website.

  • What type of cable is required to move photos from iPhone 4 to Mavericks iMac?

what type of cable is required to move photos from iphone 4 to imac mavericks?

The Apple cable that shipped with the iPhone - the same cable you use to sync the iPhone with iTunes on your computer, charge the iPhone with your computer and with the included power adaptor.

With a Mac you can use iPhoto to import photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll, or the Image Capture application as with any other digital camera with both applications included with every Mac.

  • I have ipad wi-fi cellular.  Photos won't open when I insert the SD Reader.  I tried syncing photos through itunes and that didn't work either. What do I need to do to get photos on ipad?

Have ipad wi-fi cellular.  Photos won't open when I insert the SD Reader.  I also can't download photos from pc through itunes.  Need help getting pictures on ipad.

For the SD card, are you copying the photos onto it yourself from your computer ? If you are then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them.
In terms of syncing photos, what happens when you try ? You should be able to sync photos by connecting your iPad to your computer and selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side selecting the Photos tab - using that tab you should be able to select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

  • How Best to move photos to another Mac?

I tried to export an event of 27 photos to my iDisk so I could move the photos to my wife's MacBook. It crashed with the first photo.
What is the best method to move photos from my MacBook Pro 17 to my wife's MacBook?

    Larry,
Thanks for the reply. We are not on the same network. We both connect to the Internet through a wireless router.
I previously attempted to copy the photos to a CD and when we loaded the photos on my wife's computer she had three copies of each photo in three separate events. One set was the original, one was the thumbnail and I never determined what the third one was.
Obviously it did not work. Do I need to export from my MacBook to the CD and then import to hers?
I love my MacBook Pro and the Mac operating system. However, I find working with iPhoto to be most frustrating, especially since there is no manual or resource guide to help with problems like this.

  • What do i need to do for movies?

I have downloaded both videora and quicktime pro, but still cant change the dvd files into readable ipod files. I really need help and would appreciate any useful info!

    Hiya
This is what I use.....it was intended for use with the Sony PSP (which I also have) but it seems to work fine for Video Ipod as well. It seems a lot of steps but it's quite simple really.
Download some software called 'DVD SHRINK' or 'DVD DECRYPTOR' and install, then insert your DVD and take a backup rip but in the preferences tab make sure you uncheck the option 'split vob files to 1gb chunks' so that you just get one big ???.vob file.
Then use another program, again free and downloadable, called 'PSPVIDEO 9' this is an MP4 convertor tool and lets you pick loads and loads of different formats for MP4 files....I personally use 900kbs with 128kbs sound. Convert the ???.vob file and then import the created MP4 file into itunes and load to ipod.
A 1 1/2 hour film seems to come out about 600mb on this compression rating.

  • I am wondering what upgrades I need in order to convert PDFs into another format and compress the size of a PDF (if this is possible)?

I want to be able to convert PDFs into another format and I know this can be achieved with a small upgrade. However I am also looking for the ability to compress the size of PDFs, if this is at all possible.

You can use Acrobat Standard for this.

  • Which EXPORT should I use to move photos to another iphoto library ?

Hi! I have 3 macs and one main one that has my 13000 photos in iphoto. I want to take the ones I EDITED in iphoto 9.2 in the imac running snowy which is just 375 photos, and export them onto a disc and sneaker move them to my other imac running 9.2 and snowy and import them so I have just the edited ones in a new location.I import from a canon powershot into iphoto in whatever way it does that through the card reader (I guess its RAW but I really don't know! ) , then edit in iphoto.
WHAT EXPORT FEATURE IS BEST TO USE. I tried them both and they both work but I want to know what the eports recommend A or B
A     EXPORT AS CURRENT. When I tested it the date on the FILE shows the date I edited it in iphoto.
B export chosing "as jpeg" the edited photos I see in Iphoto. When I tested this option* the date on the file shows the date I exported it outside of the current iphoto.(*I chose export JPEG MAXIMUM and use filename.)
Notes about the test: WIth option B The size in MB was TWICE AS BIG as the OPTION A.
Option A file size was the SAME as in the edited iphoto.
(in both A and B the picture dimension was the SAME   2812 X 2112  When I chose the option B and then imported the file into  iphoto, the keywords and description I originally used appeared. When I chose option A and then imported the file back into iphoto, there were no key words and no description.
When I imported my two test exports back into iphoto, to my poor little eyes I could not see ANY Difference so I was shocked by the file size difference.
What do you exports recommend. I don't care to keep track of the original - just my edited version!
    Thanks.
    Lisa

    Which ever you want.
Current is just what is says: the photo in it's current state in Library. It will miss some metadata.
Exporting as Jpeg gives you more options on the size and you can write almost all the metadata to the file (The exception is Faces.)
Remember that whe you export, you're not exporting  file, you're exporting your Photgraph and putting it into a container - that container is the file. The sie allows you to determine the size of the container. Ovbiously the larger the container, the more data it can contain.
However, the best way to move files between Libraries is to use iPhoto Library Manager This will get all the versions and all the metadata, including Faces.

  • How do I determine what xtras are needed?

From the searching I have done it appears that xtras equired are mostly trial-and-error.
Is there an efficient way to determine what xtras are needed for each lindividual movie?
My programs are divided into a series of sequential movies.  At the end of each movie
there is a goto statement to launch the next movie.  Does that require me to determine
    xtras for each separate movie?
In a perfect world there would be a way for Director to search a  folder for and present an aggregate list of all xtras required for that set of movies.
If no such method exists, what is the recommended hunt and peck system?

Thanks for the response, rduane.  But I refer to the procedures as a bit random for the reasons you mentioned in your explanation.  For example, you stated that, "Director will normally add all of the Xtras that you need to each movie as you build it".  And, yes, I know that it does add some automatically.  But, if Director really does "add all of the xtras that you need to each movie as it is built", how could I ever jump to one that is missing a needed xtra?  If it needs it, why wasn't it added when it was built?
So, that's the reason I mentioned "trial and error", and "hunt and peck".  The system is not reliable in its handling of xtras, or which ones are needed where.  I am familiar with workarounds such as going to each movie and selecting Modify>Movies>Xtras to see which ones Director has added,  But that is all it tells you.  It does not tell you if it has added all the xtras "needed".  And when the error message comes up, it does name the missing xtra, but not which movie needs it.  So, one has to go find the named xtra and copy it over to the Xtras folder.
At least, that's what I do to fix it.  But I asked the question because I wanted to know if Xtras handling itself is unreliable, or if I'm doing something incorrectly.

  • What do I need to watch moves on my tv from my imac?

Ok I want to watch movies on my tv with my imac. I have the 27-inch, Mid 2011 here is the back of the tv:
What will I need to watch movies on my tv from my imac?

A Mid 2011 iMac has got Thunderbolt, which can be used to connect the iMac to your TV through HDMI.
Get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and a HDMI cable. You have to connect the Mini DisplayPort adapter to the Thunderbolt port of the iMac. Image will appear on your TV automatically, unless you have to set the TV in HDMI mode. Another option is to get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable, so you don't have to buy an adapter and a cable
