I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro and I operate on Snow Leopard OsX. I would like to upgrade to Lion. What do I need to do to do this?

There is only one way to upgrade your Mac to Mt Lion. That is IF your Mac can run Mt Lion. Check the Apple Mt Lion specs for a list of system that will and that will not run Mt Lion.
If your system can then you will first need to buy Snow Leopard from Apple, $19, and install it. Then update that to 10.6.8 from Software Updates. Then you can use the Mac App Store to upgrade to Mt Lion for another $19.
That is the only, easiest and cheapest way.

Buy what you need to have a reliable backup.
Get the largest monitor you can afford.
Get an iPhone and iPad for testing.
Update Lion to 10.7.3 and use Xcode 4.3.1
Get a good image edtior, text editor and if you intend to do video and audio, apps to edit and manage those resources as well. See the (Mac) App Store.

What do I need to do to prepare my PC for a iMac transfer?

The genius at the store will be migrating everything for me, but I do moot want a bunch of junk transferring...I want a clean slate!
Will my bookmarks from Firefox transfer or do I need to write them down?
will my email contacts transfer from outlook into the apple email program?
Do I need to delete my AV g and C Cleaner, defeat glee and other programs for the pc or is it ok to leave them on the PC?
I guess I am asking...will it be a clean migration of comparable files and data if I leave non comparable programs on the PC?
I think I am freaking out about the transfer...any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and I had to get a program to transfer songs from my old iPod to my new iTunes...will this program negatively affect my new Mac or is it better to just delete it? TIA!

No need to freak.
Basically your pictures, movies, music, documents, emails, contacts, calendars, and iOS apps will be transferred. Safari bookmarks yes, not sure about Firefox.
PC / Windows programs will not be transferred so you don't have to worry about any excess baggage.
Do not purchase, download, or install any similarly named anti-virus utilities, "cleaners" or such from your PC. Same goes for defragglers Your Mac needs none of this and will probably run poorly if you install such junk.

Hello, and thanks for your time.
I have recently been roped into creating some custom components in Flex 3 for use in Xcelsius 2008 SP3. I can create custom components in Flex, but I have no idea how to get them into Xcelsius.
I have begun my own research into everything I am going to need, but I am hoping someone out there who has done this can provide a user-friendly itemized list of all the parts that are needed to accomplish this task. I want to make sure I do not miss anything.

Even we have a requirement to create doughnut chart in flex and need to add it in xcelisus.I can bulid that in flex and it is working with static data.Please provide me the sample code of how to pass dynamic data from xcelsius excel to this chart and how to create properties file for this chart.I have looked at horizantal slider example but that doesn't help much.

Go to SMSY and generate the RFC for the particular system, client combination then the users and all will be created automatically with proper roles assigned.

NB 305 7 Starter Restore "Preparing Computer for first" use how long stuck??

OK, I've searched far and wide for a straight forward answer on this, but I can't seem to find one anywhere...
So I did a restore on my NB because the guy I bought it from had deleted everything, but didn't do a restore, and It's running 7 starter, and didn't come with a disk...
So I went through the wizard and got everything partitioned and the reboot, now It's stuck (maybe I don't know) on the "setup preparing desktop" page, and has been like that for a little over an hour.
Now I'm not sure, how long it's supposed to take, as I just got it and haven't played with it much, but Is it supposed to take this long?? If not, what can I do? I saw a couple posts about going through CMD to remove drivers, but I don't have a disk, or USB, and I don't think I can get into BIOS or safe mode.. Anything would be helpful! Thanks guys!

Other than main software update, how should I prepare Mac for Lion?

I'm not at all talented at updating software and operating systems, etc.
I am aware that i should do the software update from the apple symbol menu on the top left of our screens, but other than that I am unsure about anything else i should do before instaling Lion.
I've resisted the urge to download it so far, i thought I'd wait to see how it went.
One way or the other, i am going to get it, if thats where Apple wants to go, then it makes sense to follow them there,while i'm using a mac, but I just want to make sure I'm not one of those that are current;ly being told that they should have checked this or that before installing.
I don't have any expensive applications to worry about becoming disfunctional, i don't really have that many apps on the iMac at all, but things like flash worry me, I'm terrible at comprehending the file system on any computer, so moving things around and deleting things terrifies me.
Anyway, I just wondered if someone could give me a small checklist to refer to before I let the Lion out of it's cage.

First as mentioned above have a clone backup handy. HDD are cheap these days I personally have a clone copy of my snow leopard system in case I need it. Use carbon copy cloner or superduper!
Then make sure you dont need any of the any PowerPC only application. A way to do this is found on this page http://www.cultofmac.com/os-x-lion-kills-rosetta-powerpc-support-heres-what-to-d o-about-it/103458 .
If you don't need any of these applications then go ahead and delete them. Lion kills support for these applications so you won't be able to open them.

then you can go ahead and upgrade or make clean install of lion. I personally prefer the clean install and is what I did. I prefer to erase my whole hardd drive and install clean. Then used migration assistant and my clone backup to import all my settings and applications. You can also install all applications from scratch if you prefer.
If you want to make a bootable DVD or USB stick to make a clean install it's easy just contact me if you want the steps.

HT1420 i need to de-authorise a computer for itunes but the computer is no longer working and the other computers which have be authorised have also been thrown away. How can I manage this problem?

i have previously had computers authorised for itunes but all have been thrown away or are now so broken that they do not even turn on! Please can someone tell me how I can de-authourise them and authorise at least 1 new computer? I have lost alot of music etc from CD's but I'd at least like to be able to get back what I bought from itunes.
