What do i need to do to upgrade my zen touch 40

i upgraded my firmware for my touch and have had tons of problems ever since. i am willing to start again by downloading the new firmware again if need be. one of the major problems i have encountered is that i would like to use mediasource but cannot now. i tried using windows media player but have several major problems. i can't see all of my music ID tags and seem to have lost the ones i created with mediasource. 2 i cant see my playlists on the computer. 3 it is transferring all of my media after specifying a given folder. 4 i couldn't figure out how to sync things back to my pc. the media explorer is cumbersome. i don't think i need to say anymore about this p.o.s. so what i'm wondering is what files do i need to download to be able to use medisource to organize my music. can someone please help me because i'm about to throw this player out the window!!! Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
If you have already loaded the PlayForSure firmware for the player, be sure to also download and install the 'Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players (43.44 MB)'

  • I have OS X what do I need to do to upgrade to snow leopard or newer?

What do I need to do to upgrade to the most current OS from OS X 10.5.08?

The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard After you’ve installed that then download the 10.6.8 combo updater to finish it off. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order 10.9 Mavericks which is a download only.
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
10.9 Mavericks is available in the App Store for free.
You can upgrade direct from 10.6.8 to 10.9 Mavericks or without going through 10.7 Lion or10.8 Mountain Lion as long as you have the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1.
10.9 Mavericks will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also 10.9 Mavericks doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under10.9 Mavericks.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

What do I need to do to upgrade my macbook pro 17 from OS X 10.4.11 to  OS X 10.5.8

Locate and purchase a copy of Leopard. They may be found on eBay and Amazon.com. Be sure to only purchase a retail package.
Or you can save a little money by upgrading to Snow Leopard which costs $29.00. If you dec8de to purchase Snow Leopard, you can still purchase a copy from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.] Ask for a Sales Representative.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.

I have Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 what do I need to do to upgrade to the latest version of software??

Depends what MacBook version you have.
Go to  > About This Mac > More Info > hardware overview (should open at that usually).
Check the model identifier (MacBook4.1 or similar)
    Check Processer Name
    Processer speed
    Memory
    Specs for Snow Leopard (10.6.x)
    And for Lion (10.7.x);
Note that the memory quoted in those specs is absolute minimum for each OS - 106 really needs at least 2GB and Lion 4GB

Giving just the basics, first you need to confirm that your iMac will run 10.6. See:

Then you need to confirm that your applications and peripherals will run under 10.6 or that they can be upgraded to do so.
Finally, you need to purchase a retail copy of 10.6. See:

  • HT1443 My Macbook Pro is currently running OS X 10.4.11.  What do I need to do to upgrade to the latest version of Lion?

I am currently running OS X 10.4.11 on my MacBook Pro and would like to upgrade to the latest version of Lion.  When I check for updates, I receive a message that says no updates are available.  When i tried to purchase a Lion upgrade, it says I need to be running OS X10.6 or later.  What do I need to do in order to upgrade to Lion?   Thanks!

Buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, install it, run Software Update, and if the computer has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU, phone the Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

  • Need Help With My 40G Creative Zen Touch Mp3 Play

Got this beautiful mp3 player for a steal at only $95 dlvd!
Works great, only problem is I just installed the software and when I run the Organizer thing, it doesnt detect any mp3s. So when I go into my folders containing mp3's they dont show up. I tried to associate formats using the File Options in the settings menu but there are no file types listed to associate! Im confused at what to do.
Also when the program software was installing I kept getting error messages relating to the registration of certain parts of the program, it still installed complete but gave me a error message to report to Creative. Everything works fine so far though?
Can anyone help me out here or recognize the problem?

<FONT face=Helv size=2> Here is what you should do:
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site. Make sure that you install this first before installing the rest of the MediaSource plugins listed below.
    - (Depending on your product and firmware)
For non-PlaysForSure Zen series: Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    or:
For PlaysForSure Zen Touch: Download and install the Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players.
    - If it is listed for your product: Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8 from your product download site.
Hi thanks for the help, Im not sure if my ins the Plays for sure model or not? Its the Creative Zen Touch 40 GB. I bought it without a manual so im not positi've how to check the details. It came with a software installation CD, that is what I used for the software. So does this mean I just need to download the plugins you listed? Is that what is affecting the Organizer in the fact that it doesnt display mp3s?

  • Some WMA/DRM files won't sync after firmware upgrade on Zen Touch

I downloaded an eaudio book from my library, which grants a 2 day license. Prior to upgrading the firmware (to the latest available) on my Zen Touch, I was able to upload this book and play it while walking, etc.
At the same time, I was able to upload several other books I had downloaded and licensed. All are WMA/DRM.
After upgrading the firmware, I was able to resync some of the books I'd downloaded to my Zen Touch. Several, however, yield error messages--no matter how I try to upload them (WMP, Creative MediaSource, Zen Touch Media Explorer). All refuse to let me upload.
These books previously uploaded/played just fine. Note: they still play fine using WMP and Creative's software. But, it's a bit difficult to lug my desktop around when walking/running through the woods.
Any idea what the problem might be? All MediaSource says is:
    <IMG src="http://herb.thetysons.org/images/CMC-error.jpg">
WMP0 tells me that "an unknown error" has occurred. Neither event is significant to make it to the system's application event log.
Any ideas on why these files--which could be tranferred before--can't be transferred now? The licenses are still valid, and the file format is identical to those that transferred without incident.

OK, my update. After reading the recent responses (thanks!), I performed the following experiments.
    1) Reverted to the original v2.0 via factory restore, relinked to the Mac. ATV immediately copied over my entire library (one movie, lots of music) from the Mac, because I have iTunes checked marked for Automatic Sync ("iTunes automatically chooses the audio and video to sync, etc.").
*I consider this to be normal and expected behaviour.*
    2) Downloaded and installed the 2.1 update (again...). After reboot the ATV was still on my network and still linked to my Mac. However there was no longer any media content on the ATV (as before).
*I do not consider this to be normal, expected behaviour. Nor, for that matter, is wiping user content acceptable.*
    3) Cancelled and relinked ATV to Mac. As soon as the linking code was entered, automatic sync started. Only the one movie was copied, but no music.
*I do not consider this to be normal, expected behaviour.*
    4) When that sync was completed I went and checked all the songs in one album in iTunes as a quick test, then sync'd again. That song was promptly copied to the ATV.
    Progress!
    5) Checked all songs, initiated a new sync and they're being copied as I write.
    Success!
So v2.1 requires music to be manually selected in iTunes in order for automatic sync to work. Anyone not spot a contradiction in terms? Furthermore that was certainly not the case in software versions prior to 2.1, nor was this change communicated in any way I'm aware of to the user.
My conclusion is that this is either a bug, or else sheer thoughtlessness on Apple's part.
But my sincere thanks to those who've helped me to restore proper function to the ATV (well, fingers crossed), a device that I've become very fond of.

  • What 3G users need to know before upgrading to OS 4.0, possible fixes

    Hey Everyone,
I purchased my iPhone 3G back on February 1st, so I am only about 5 months into my first/new contract with At&T. That being said, I wished I had sprung for the extra $100 on the 3Gs due to the following complications you should all be aware of.
If you are going to update to the OS 4.0 on a 3G phone you need to be aware that because of the phone's processing power, backup restores have a 10% chance of actually restoring to the phone. This backup includes contacts, voice memos, call data, voice mail, etc. (the 10% figure is a ballpark figure based on the few whom have had luck)
More than likely when you upgrade to the OS 4.0 you will not be able to restore backup information as mentioned above. I am not sure why this happens, but the best idea I can come up with is that the backup files somehow become corrupted. This could be due to a number of things: Itunes 9.2 is not installed properly, Bonjour is interfering, the copy of the OS 4.0 file was somehow corrupted in downloading (it's possible due to the number of iPhone owners downloading the software at the same time), activation servers could be lagging, your phone was not properly ejected/disconnected properly from last backup, iTunes could have a unknown bug interfering with the upgrade, as well as many other scenarios I could post here.
I spent nine hours trying to get the OS 4.0 onto this device using my backup info. After it was all done and said, I realized that was never going to be possible.
My phone too did the cycle of being stuck in restore mode. This was solved by simultaneously holding down the power and home button, waiting for the apple logo to appear and immediately taking my finger off the power buttun and still holding home until the sync cable image appears. (the hold time for this varies from 7-20 seconds)
From here I repeated the update process and instead decided to restore as a new iPhone. I lost all my information except my apps.
So, some tips if you decide to upgrade the OS.
#1 - somehow back up your contacts via pen and paper or some other method that works best for you. Email suits like Outlook can be used to back these up (how I am not sure, but it is possible.)
#2 - make a copy of the iTunes folder of your applications (right click Applications folder>click copy> and paste somewhere else like your desktop as a back up, JUST IN CASE IT DOES NOT SYNC YOUR APPS THE FIRST TIME.) Depending on the number of apps, this can take up space temporarily, so make sure you can accommodate the temporary copy. (the copied apps folder can just be deleted after you've finished)
#3 - back up any photos or video on your phone via email or syncing them into your iTunes, and copying the files to another part of your computer. (This is what we call a "better safe than sorry" scenario)
#4 - once you have your info and collections backed up if possible, erase them off of the phone manually. This frees up update time and makes a smoother faster update.
#5 - Go ahead and retry the update or attempt the update at your own disclosure. Remember, you will have to set the restore to a NEW iPhone, not the back up.
This is the method that worked for me. I will note that the phone sometimes lags, keyboard entries lag at times, but otherwise it looks nice. Very few new features, but its enough for a taste to make you want a newer model. I hope this helps some of you out there. I spent nine hours working this out only to goto work with 4 hours sleep. (Yeah, stupidly dedicated right? LOL)

I too , have had my phone crash after installing the iphone 4 update. It would not update and connect to itunes after installing it. My phone was not accesable at all.
I took it to the apple store in London and for an hour and a half waited for them to resolve the issue.
They seemed far more interested in selling their new iphone 4 than helping existing customers.
I was told it was a physical connection problem cord. I knew this was not the case and as I had my laptop with me proved it wasn't.
After 2 hours they replaced the handset and I am now in the process of restoring the backup.
I strongly advise not to install the new software.

  • HT4481 I have OS X version 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro. What do i need to do to upgrade to the latest?

I need to know what i need to do to update my MacBook Pro

Assuming you currently have the 10.5.8 Combo update loaded  (if not Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update )
First, check that your machine is suitable for Snow Leopard.   It needs to be a Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.   Double check by reading the specs.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -Read the Technical Specifications
This is a paid upgrade not a download.  To buy the DVD, if you are from the USA go to …
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard.
In Europe or otherwise substitute your national code in place of /us above.
In the UK see … Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (UK)
Before you start upgrading, back up your files.   If you are unsure how best to do this, the following link is hugely informative.   Most commonly used backup methods: Apple Support Communities
Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard, if your upgrade took you to 10.6.3 you will need to apply the Combo updater.  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1   and follow with software updates to pick up the most recent security and iTunes updates.
The next step is Mavericks ... if your machine can take it.

  • I currently have 10.5.8 on my Intel desk top. What do I need to do to upgrade from this OS to the Newest version OS?

I currently have 10.5.8  OS  on my 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
My machine needs to be Up-Graded to the Newest OS.
But I get different opinions from everyone as to how to do this Up-Grade.
Can I just buy the Newest OS and install it.?
OR must I go thru all the previous OS up-grades first.?
OR do I just take this "old" machine to the Apple Store and Buy a New one and let them

Your machine appears to be a Early 2008 24" iMac (iMac 8,1) and even though you meet the minimal 2GB of RAM, you really should max it out at 6GB for the beast of Lions.
You have two slots, one can hold a 4GB module and the other 2GB.
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
Use System Profiler to confirm your machine Model Identification and use Crucial.com checker to make sure your getting the right RAM spec.
Warning!, your current PPC based software will NOT run in 10.7 or 10.8+
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
This could be a very expensive upgrade, Snow Leopard, then Mountain Lion, more RAM and all new software all for a dated machine.
I'd say upgrade it to 10.6.8 max and perhaps add more RAM and stay there for best performance.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
Yes, do consider a new one with 10.8, better to spend all the money on software there than on a dated machine.
    Good luck.

This might seem like a silly question, but are there free software updates available? If so, how do I access them?

    Hi michaelt35572189
You can only upgrade from CS5 or CS5.5 to CS6 design Premium. Please Refer : http://www.adobe.com/mena_en/products/creativesuite/design-web-premium/buying-guide-upgrad es.html

  • What Do I Need to Purchase to Upgrade my iMac 7,1 to Play Assassin's Creed?

I own an iMac 7,1 (Intel Core 2 Duo). The processor speed is 2 GHz with 1 GB memory. I recently purchased Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Although I'm able to complete the tutorial using Windows XP, the game crashes about 15-20 minutes later. Ubisoft indicates that the system requirements include:
    1. Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended.
    2. RAM: 1 GB Windows XP/2 GB Windows Vista
    3. Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher.
Is there a way to upgrade my computer's processor speed from 2 GHz to 2.2 GHz? Also, would installing more memory make sense?

    Useful things to know.
    1. This is not considered an upgrade. It's a separate product, and runs separately. You can have both installed (though it's often better not to). This is important because some people buy Acrobat, then run Reader, and wonder why it hasn't changed.
    2. You must not purchase an upgrade. When you purchase an upgrade you have already own a version of (paid for) Acrobat. You have to say what version you already own, and this will be checked; you cannot use your purchase of an upgrade version if you don't own an older version.

  • What do I need to purchase to upgrade to iWeb 3.0

It would appear that the only way of upgrading my 2.0 version of iWeb to 3.0 is to purchase iLife '11.  But every time I go to iStore all I see is iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.  I have all 3 on my Mac and already have iPhoto '11.  So what am supposed to buy???

iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • HT1338 What do I need to do to upgrade my operating system OX 10.6.8 to the latest version?

I'm trying to install a Norton Antivirus software, but it requires that I have an operating system that is OX 10.7 or higher.  How can I upgrade my version of mac to OX 10.7?

As an aside, Norton has a pretty miserable reputation on macs, but maybe that's on older versions. Some companies require Norton today, however.
That said, if your iMac has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (click the apple on the left of the menu bar and about this mac) and 2GB of memory (4GB is recommended), you can upgrade to OS X 10.7 Lion.  If your iMac is a mid-2007 or newer system, you can upgrade to the current OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. You don't need to install OS X 10.7 Lion as an intermediate step to Mountain Lion, you can go directly from where you are today at OS X 10.6.8 to OS X 10.8 via the App store.
If you do want to go to Lion, you'll need to call the online Apple store, which in the US is at 800-MY-APPLE to buy it. They will email you a code that you use in the App store to download it.
Also, you may know that both Lion and Mountain Lion dropped emulated Power PC support, so programs like Office 2004 will no longer work (newer versions of Office are OK).
