What do i need to get started with windows messages?

Hello, i've searched these forums and found no answer. I would like to know how i can get started sending and recieving windows messages in labVIEW. Thanks

LabVIEW does not support direct acces to the Windows Message Queue. I asume that you are asking this in regard to enqueued events. There are certain events which are of interested for LV and therefore they will be "passed on to LV" (simplified expression).
If you want to have access to the Windows Message Queue manually, you have to create your own interface using MFC-based C++ wrapper. I think there are examples available for such things, but they are most often focused on specific tasks, so maybe (if available at all) they will not help you.....
hope this helps,

  • What do I need to know to get started with Windows 10?

QuestionWhat do I need to know to get started with Windows 10?
AnswerWindows 10 likely looks familiar in some ways to past Windows users whether they're most familiar with Windows 8, Windows 7, or earlier versions of Windows.
To read about what's new with Windows 10, check the sections below. To learn about Windows 10 and see it in action, you can watch this video:
    Desktop and Start menu
When you start your Windows 10 computer, you'll see the desktop. Like in Windows 7 and earlier versions of Windows, you'll see the Start button in the lower-left, which opens  the Start menu.
The new Start menu combines aspects of Windows 7's Start menu with Windows 8's Start screen. On the left are important links, including Settings, as well as applications you use often. On the right are Modern UI app tiles. The Start menu also contains a button for power as well as a button to expand the Start menu to a full screen view.
    Cortana
Next to the Start button is the Cortana search field. Cortana is a personal assistant that can help you find answers, solve issues, and search for files. You can click in the box to typer to her, click the microphone to speak to her, or press the Cortana button on select Toshiba laptops to speak to her.
You can learn more about Cortana here:
How do I use Cortana in Windows 10?
    Action Center
The Action Center can be used to view notifications and access settings quickly.  Hold the Windows key and press the 'A' key to open the Action Center.
Notifications are shown at the top, and toggles for various settings are located at the bottom.
On touchscreen devices, you can swipe in from the right to open the Action Center. The toggles on the bottom are sized so that you can press them with your thumb easily.

Install 7. Don't bother with applying drivers and such, just reboot again from DVD and install again, it will see the existing system and this time activation will be possible.
Vista is mess, takes longer etc. Hope you have SP1 version of 7. And for Vista, only SP2+ are even supported now, by MS.

  • What software do I need to get started with GIS development

Hello, I'm a Oracle RDBMS specialist but interested in getting into GIS development. I want to set up a local environment and play around with it. Could someone advise me as to what software I need to install/download? Is all of it free?
1.) I'm assumming I need ORACLE with SPATIAL (was looking into 10g) Is this download free?
2.) I also looked into MAP VIEWER as an extension of the Oracle Application Server.
Are these 2 products all I need to get started?
I also read alot about arcGIS? Can this product be downloaded for free or is it a licensed product?
Does anyone have any other suggestions about some software/documentation that may help me get started in this technology.
    Thanks,

    Hello!!
Actually, you need Oracle Spatial or Oracle Locator. Oracle Locator is free on Oracle Express, and you could start with it. Otherwise, if you want to know more, Oracle Spatial comes with Oracle Enterprise, and Oracle 10g gives you a schema that allow you to store, manage and query spatial data through Oracle functions, etc.
To start using MapViewer, considering that you already have some spatial data stored on the database, you could download the MapViewer kit at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/spatial/index.html.
You could buy the Pro Oracle Spatial book. It´s very good.
    Good Luck!

  • New to CF: What do I need to get started to update a website developed in CF?

Hi. I have been asked to update a website that was developed in Coldfusion and I am not sure how to get started. I'm very familiar with HTML and I've been studying CFML. What I need to know now is how to get started. The website is not live yet and I need to make some changes to the content. I have Dreamweaver and I know I can download Coldfusion. Can someone please explain to me what needs to be done next? After I download CF then what? How do I make changes and save them on a site that isn't live yet? Do I need to go live with the site before I make changes? Is it possible to connect to a ftp server of a site that's not live yet? The site has a domain name that's registered.

    BagelBites wrote:
How do I get my changes to appear on a site that has already been developed but hasn't gone live yet?
Publish your changes to that site.
How you do that depends on what connection types you have to that site.  This might be done with FTP, WebDAV, Network File access or other methods.
How you view the changed content will also depend on what you mean by 'gone live'.  Is there a Domain name that points to the content?  Do you know the IP address?  Is there some temporary Domain Name?  I have used all these methods and others in the past, depending on what I was working and how it was being hosted.
These questions are most likely more definitively answered by talking to the system operators of whom ever is maintaining this web server for you.  If this is a hosting company, they may have common answers to these types of questions in a FAQ or other documentation.  If not, directing the questions at their customer support channels should yield appropriate results.
If this is not true, then my strongest suggestion would be to find a better hosting solution!

  • Direction Needed to Get Started With XSQL Servlet

Hi, I am an ORACLE DBA. However, I am brand new to XML world. I tried to experiment and and understand the use of XSQL Servlet. I downloaded the software 1.0.0.0, and installed it on my PC, with the included Web-to-go. The installation seems to be OK, as I followed the instructions and twisted a little bit based on the intuition.
When I clicked on the Demo pages, it seemed to work.
The problem is, I want to understand the working of the XSQL Servlet. The only document I have is the Release Note of the software. It is very terse and seems to be for the ones who either worked on the previous release of the product or who knows the XML very well. I got lost in the reading of the document.
Is there some documents that will provide some Intro level tutorial or help? Where should I begin to the learning of the software?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,
I am new to Java and had a few questions regarding
development. Please, if the questions are 'stupid'
or obvious in your eyes, keep in mind I am new to
this and just need a little boost to get started.
    1) Can you make 3D objects in Java? Such as
    landscapes and people.
    Yes.
    2) Which programs are needed for development?
Please list a few programs you feel are best for
Java Development as a whole. Links here would also
    be wonderful.A compiler. An editor.
    >
    3) Are there any websites which go threw Java
Development? I can't seem to find one which fits the
needs or a beginner. There are several.
    Sun's basic Java tutorial
Sun's New To Java Center. Includes an overview of what Java is, instructions for setting up Java, an intro to programming (that includes links to the above tutorial or to parts of it), quizzes, a list of resources, and info on certification and courses.
http://javaalmanac.com . A couple dozen code examples that supplement The Java Developers Almanac.
jGuru. A general Java resource site. Includes FAQs, forums, courses, more.
JavaRanch. To quote the tagline on their homepage: "a friendly place for Java greenhorns." FAQs, forums (moderated, I believe), sample code, all kinds of goodies for newbies. From what I've heard, they live up to the "friendly" claim.

  • Beginner! Need help getting started with recording music.

I am the definition of 'new' at the moment. I want to record my own music at home and I've been told that using an Apple Mac is one of the better ways to go about it at home.
I have a number of questions, most of which have probably been asked before (apologies!) starting right from the beginning.
    1. What type of Mac would be best suited as a dedicated tool for recording music? Obviously speed and memory are big factors, but are there any other considerations here (available inputs, drivers, sound cards etc)? I'm hoping to keep the cost below AUS$3000 if possible.
    2. Do i need any other hardware for this application? (this is where you can tell how inexperienced I am haha) such as mixers etc? If I should need a mixer, is there a particular type or brand of mixer that works well with Macs?
    3. Will plugging a guitar amp into the mac improve sound quality over plugging the guitar directly into the Mac? I bought a Griggin Garage Band guitar cable a while ago to record some background music for a friend's DVD, and I found it worked well, but I'm looking for the best quality sound now.
    4. What would be the most effective software to use? I've briefly used Garage Band and found that to be simple and useful, but I've heard that there are better software packages available.
I'm hoping to be able to record guitar, bass and vocals directly on to the Mac, and create drum tracks using samples and loops. I know how to play music but as you can tell I know very little about recording it! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
    Thanks..

I would presume one line level input will suffice?
Close, you need a Line Level AND Mic Level input since you'll want to record vocals.
Thanks for the link to your Q&A page, I found some very useful info there.
It's showing its age, and will hopeful get updated soon, but most of the info is good at least for a background.
Anyway, I think I might recommend this Presonus INSPIRE over the FireBox, it'll save you about $100 and since PreSonus makes excellent equipment (and we have an active member here that uses the Inspire), I'm confident that it offers great quality.
I think the firepod that you use looks great, but might be overkill
I agree, the FirePod would be serious overkill for your needs. Again, an awesome interface, but you'd be paying for all those Mic PREs, and using 1. That wouldn't make sense, and since the FP isn't cheap...
my talent and engineering knowledge is quite limited
Then I would strongly suggest GB as the software, and then do lots of reading. The weakest link in music production is your engineering skills. Mixing and Mastering (especially the latter) are art forms. A bad engineer using a $10,000 bit of software and hardware would make a fantastic performance sound like garbage. With good engineering skills you can make a pro recording with GB.
The learning curve with something like Logic is dramatically increased, and again, without the skills to take advantage of what it offers, your recordings are not going to sound any better. At the very least, start with GB to learn the skills of Recording/Editing/Mixing/Mastering. The "price of admission" is low enough that if in a year you find that you need a feature GB doesn't offer, your money will not have been wasted, it will have been valuable learning time.
Hope those more specific answers help

  • Need help getting started with the ML505 Development Kit

First of all, an admission...I am a newb to the FPGA world. A babe in the wilderness. I am trying to run a simple little logic design to get my feet wet. Four inputs using the WEST, CENTER, SOUTH, and EAST pushbuttons feeding two AND gates which feeds an OR gate which turns on the NORTH LED. I have tried to use the Platform Cable USB to download the project to the XCF32P Platform Flash PROM using the iMPACT software. As of yet I have been unable to get the program to run. The iMPACT program says the programming was successful but after pressing the PROG button, the DONE LED does not turn on. I've tried different settings with the Configuration Address and Mode DIP switches with no success. To anyone using the ML505, given the gear I have at my disposal, what would you recommend? What modes have you used that worked? Thanks in advance.

Here is the latest setup I have used in trying to get my FPGA to read from the Platform FLASH PROM. Configuration Address/Mode DIP switches set to 01011001 as per "My Own Platform Image Demonstration" method in the "ML505/ML506/ML507 Getting Started Tutorial" The Platform Cable USB is plugged into the JTAG connector on the ML505. Its status LED is green. In iMPACT the Boundary Scan reveals the following chain... TDI ----- xcf32p -----xcf32p-----xc9s144x1-----xccace-----xc5vlx50t-----TDO   The same mcs file is loaded into both PROMs (xcf32p). I start the programming cycle. It completes and says "Programming Successful" I press the PROG button on the ML505 and the DONE LED does not turn on and the design does not work. With the same chain I add the bit file to the xc5vlx50t so I have the PROMs loaded with mcs files and the FPGA with the bit file. I run the program function again. "Programming successful" is again indicated. The DONE LED lights and the design works. I then press the PROG button. The DONE LED turns off and the design ceases to function. I have also tried this with only one PROM loaded with a mcs file with no success. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

  • So, what do I need to get started?

This is my first post, so please be gentle.
So I want to go wireless with my broadband and iTunes.
What do I need? Is it just, AirPort Express Base Station with AirTunes or do I need a base station or both?
    Thanks for the help.
PS: I'm loving my 5 month old iMac G5, it rocks!

    ddon_uk,
    Welcome to discussions.
I guess "So I want to go wireless with my broadband and iTunes" means that you want to play your iTunes music library onto the stereo system, possibly in another room. Airport Express does this for you.
But we can't help you with any other decisions on kit without just a little more info.
How many computers do you wish to have the ability to play iTunes over the speakers ?
Will all these computers have an Airport card installed (not essential) ?
How far is it from the computers to the proposed location of the Airport Express ?
Are you ADSL or Cable broadband ?
Do you have any other networking kit (including that supplied by the ISP) ? Or any PC's / XBox's / PSP's / etc that you wish to connect to the broadband ? by Ethernet ? Or wireless ?
So many questions and I can't promise that there won't be more. But we will get whatever you want working.

  • Trying to Get Started With Windows 8.1

I'm not a troll, I'm just a crotchety, oldster trying to figure out how to get Windows 8.1 to fit my workflow.  I've been using Windows 7 for the last bunch of years, so I'm a bit late to the Windows 8 party, but I'm building a new PC and figured I'd
move to 8.1 instead of continuing with 7...
I liked the XP interface - extremely easy to find the application I wanted because things were hierarchical. Windows 7 was more bothersome, but I got used to it.  So far, after 3 days, I'm still struggling with Windows 8.1, so I figure I'll get some
    guidance here...
I did a rummage, but didn't find much on how I should change my workflow to make it easier in 8.1.  In Windows 7 I had a desktop with icons for less frequently used applications, a taskbar with frequently used applications pinned, and a start menu (3rd
party) with EVERYTHING organized hierarchically so it was easy to find what I need. I'm trying to use 8.1 without adding a bunch of 3rd party stuff to make it look more like older interfaces that were organized differently.
In Windows 8, I appear to have the equivalent of THREE desktops, all different, none with any hierarchical organization.
I'm not seeing the advantage of the Start screen...  Are the boxes, of whatever size, just the equivalent of icons or do they do something better?  And I only appear to be able to organize horizontally, which means I'm limited to six named groups.
On the Apps screen, I already have a large number of my apps, despite deleting a bunch of the "modern" things.  They exceed the width of the 24" monitor I'm using for setup.  There doesn't seem to be any hierarchy there, either.
So, for example, for Office I have at least 12 icons/apps/whatevers.  Including the ones I CARE about, like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook that I use regularly.  AND a bunch of OTHER stuff I VERY rarely use like Clip Organizer, and Groove,
and Uploader, and so on.  But, I can't take them off the screen if I ever want to get at them, right?  'Cause there's no start menu any more...
I also have a lot of stuff for handling e-books - Calibre, a Kindle Reader, OverDrive, Adobe Digital Additionsl, a Nook Reader, a couple 3M cloud things, and so on.  On the Apps page they're all OVER the place instead of being grouped together (which at
least the Office stuff is).  And there doesn't appear to be a way to have them be together and hierarchical so I can quickly find Calibre or ADE quickly, and only have to see the Kindle reader or Nook reader when I want them...  So how do folks organize
their screens so they don't have to wade through hundreds of things you only need once a year to get to the ones you use a couple times a month or once a week?
I also have a bunch of stuff that's just a single application, like Syncback, but instead of just being "Syncback", there' ANOTHER line that tells me who the creator is - I don't care that 2BrightSparks made it, I just want to be able to find it when
I need it - once in a while.
The desktop is as it's always been, but I don't want 2 or 300  icons on there for a bunch of stuff I rarely use.  The constantly used stuff will be pinned to the taskbar, and the less frequently can be icons, but where do I do to organize all the
    other stuff?
So, in my ignorance - is there a way to have 8.1 support MY workflow, or if not, how do other people organize things to make it as easy as possible to find what you need without having to wade through a ton of stuff you don't?  And have it all fit on the
    screen.
I found the Name Group thing for the Start screen, but I can only group applications aross the screen?  Which limits me to 6 groups.  How do I configure that screen so I can have multiple groups in a column?
And the Apps screen.  How do I organize things hierarchically so I can have the Office stuff I care about visible, with the rest not clogging up space but available for drilling down?
I currently have the system boot to the desktop, which is most like Windows 7, but without a start menu to group things, I'd need a lot of icons for the applications I use, and a lot MORE for the stuff I rarely use.  Cumbersome.
How are other people organizing in 8.1?

I have a Dell U3014 as well as a couple of older Dells turned up sideways as "ears".
Other than supplying the desktop "theme" (if you can call a complete lack of style along with a fair bit of inconsistency a "theme"), the OS really shouldn't be causing you to have a washed-out desktop experience.  That's more a
matter of your display driver not really doing its job.  What video card do you have?
FYI, one of the reasons I like Aero Glass for Win 8.1 (a 3rd party package) is that it allows me to make the desktop more pleasant to use and helps set the client areas (i.e., where work gets done) apart from the window chrome.
From what I can see, the color-management logic in Windows 8.1 is essentially unchanged from what it was in Windows 7.  That there has been NO progress in this area is really a disappointment.  It's an area where Microsoft has again just stopped
    trying to make improvements.
If it's at all interesting to you, here's a screen grab of a REALLY cluttered up desktop.  I don't normally work this way; this was an exercise to see how much I could get running.  I finally gave up starting more stuff as I grew tired
and it just kept working fine...

  • Wondering what GPU is best to get started with.

As a Pr novice not working on intensive graphics, is the ATI Radeon HD GPU sufficient to get going or is the Quadro 4000 Cuda the real way to go?

The Quadro 4000 will yield substantial performance benefits in Premiere via GPU acceleration, especially when trying to push 2k footage. More layers, more effects in realtime. The 10-bit reference spawned from the graphics mention, but the display being used has nothing to do with editing performance in Premiere and you would see definite benefits with the 4000 card

What do I have to download in order to start using JSP and Java Servelets? How do I test the codes after I've written something? Anyone?

Right and you can download tomcat server from http://jakarta.apache.org/
and do not forget to set java home path in tomcat.See it's documentation formore help on site itself.
To test your codes for jsp put all your jsp, html, image and other resource files in tomcat's webaps's root directory.
Put all your java class files of beans if used and servlet's class files in root's webinf's class directory.
It will make sense to try very easy programs if u r a begineer .After starting the server post setting the java home path .(you can start it in bin directory's startup.bat file)

  • Newby...need help getting started with 80g

    ok...
with 30gb ipod video i could connect to any type of computer pc or mac and upload music...
with the ipod classic is it one or the other...

17 hours??! Just to do the factory restore? Or does that include repopulating an 80Gb library. Either way it still sounds excessive to me. I take it you have USB 2.0 and a broadband net connection. I'm sure I've seen some postings about moving from PC to Mac elsewhere in the forums. You might want to track these down for useful advice before commiting to such drastic action.
Restoring will wipe the hard drive of the iPod removing all content so be sure that there is nothing you want on the iPod that you don't have backed up somewhere else before you proceed.
