What do I need to install a second HD on HP Pavilion DV7
A friend had purchased a HP Pavilion DV7 -6B50EB that came with 1 TB hard disk. On the PC there is an empty slot for a second disk. What is needed to install the second hard disk ? The slot contains a HD container but there is no connecting wires to connect the HD. Does anyone went through this and where can I get this connection device? Thanks for the help.

Hi,
You need two cables, one is a sata cable:
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/30305659/706331346/StarTech-com-6in-SATA-to-Right-Angle-SATA-Serial-AT...
This cable is only for data and connects the hdd to the SATA connector on the motherboard.
The other cable is for power:
http://www.itpartsdirect.com/startech-15-24cm-4-pin-molex-to-sata-power-cable-adaptor.html
This connects the hdd to the PSU.
You can also buy a combo cable like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00064GBT4/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550951989&ref=asc_df_B00064GBT4
All you have to do now is to connect the hdd and that's it. Make sure that the primary drive with the operating system is connected to the primary SATA connector (I think there are numbers 1, 2, 3..)

Need to install a second copy (per EULA)
I have a single user license for RoboHelp 7. I need to
install a second copy of the software on my laptop. Have not been
successful yet.
Section 2.5 ("Portable or Home Computer Use") of the EULA
expressly permits a single license user to install a second copy of
the software on a laptop. However, the software activation
mechanism prevents this. I installed the software, but it will not
run until activated. Attempts to activate it result in an error
about the software license already being activated and giving me
the choice of deactivating the copy on my desktop (my main
machine).
I have only a limited time need for this second copy. The
very specific purpose is to have a copy of the software on my
laptop to show my RoboHelp work to potential employers during
interviews. This complies with the EULA as I would not be using the
software simultaneously on my other computer at home. Once I get a
job, I have no need for this second copy and would uininstall it.
Thanks for any advice anyone can provide.Welcome to the forum.
Indeed you can install on a second machine but without doubt
the copy you are using has been activated twice already. This can
occur if your machine has been reformatted and you did not
deactivate first. Maybe your desktop machine was changed and you
installed on the new machine without deactivating on the old one.
Could a colleague have installed it to take a look?
Go back to the activation screen and it will advise you what
to do. You need to phone the number that you can find there and
explain the problem. I had this after a hard disk failure and was
given an activation number. -

Both run natively on OS X and are totally FREE.

What do I need to install Integration Kit for SharePoint Server 2007
What do I need to install the Integration Kit for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007? It gives me an SP3 needed error but does not tell me what SP3. Has any one sucessfully installed this kit? Please help.
Hi,
The sharepoint PIK is available for BO enterprise only. SP3 is refering to BO enterprise XIR2 SP3. This Service Pack is not available for CR 2008. In order to integrate CR 2008 in BO enterprise XIR3 you need to install SP0 on top of CR 2008. But as I said above without BO enterprise you won't be able to use the PIK.
I copied the following system requirements from our Install Guide for BOE XiR3 PIK:
System requirements
For a list of system requirements, consult the Platforms.txt file included
with your product distribution. For additional important information that may
pertain to your deployment, it is also strongly recommended that you consult
the Release Notes included with your product distribution.
In general, the following components must be installed and configured
correctly before you install the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 Portal

u2022 BusinessObjects Enterprise XI .NET SDK (on your SharePoint machine

u2022 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (any edition).

I think all your answers can be addressed in a free session with an apple genius. All of your questions are about things that, as softwater points out, are free.
you have time machine already on your machine, hit command+spacebar and type time machine, hit enter. time machine will come up. Follow the steps it says to set it up.
Boot Camp (which I've never used) is also on your machine already. hit command+spacebar and then type Boot Camp. Hit enter. This is boot camp assistent. Use your CD of windows with this software and you'll be able to boot into windows 7.

I believe there is a technique which uses some similar suggestion to unwittingly tempt the user into installing malware, in order to be able to watch some (usually sexually explicit) video, so be aware of this ruse.
The only things I would download would be Perian that extends Quicktime, available here,

and if that did not do it, then try VLC to use instead of Quicktime. -
What do I need to install when I install oralce in linux and oracle client
What do I need to install when I install oralce in linux and oracle client in windows?
I want to connect oracle from windows to Linux, what do I need to install or setup? thanks. Are you trying to install the DB on Linux from your Windows Box? if so, you need to have an XWindows client on your client. You have to SSH or Telnet into the box, set your DISPLAY variable. In fact, it is all in your documentation for the DB install. We still don't understand what you are exactly asking.
Do you have direct access to your Linux machine? If so, and it has a graphical GUI, then you can find install guides for most flavors of Linux at dizwell.com. His are most excellent and show examples, but do not go over the XWindows problem. You would have to resolve that first.
A free XWindows environment for Windows is Cygwin.
Once the DB is running on Linux then all you do is create a TNS entry on it on your client and it connects. It is the same as setting up a connection to connect to Oracle on a Windows box. -
What do I need to install 2nd drive on old Sawtooth?
Hope its OK to ask about legacy computers on this board!
I have a powermac Sawtooth (450 ghz AGP) running OS9.2 - and was recently given some graphics programs that run on os 10.4 (Tiger)
I know its possible to install Tiger on the computer but would rather install a second internal HD and leave the original drive intact.
Since the capacity on the current HD is pitiful, was thinking I would also prefer for the second drive to have greater storage capacity (500 GB+) but my research indicates that as it is, this computer does not recognize HD's over something like 160 GB.
My QUESTION is: what are all the things I would I need to buy to install a bigger-than-160 GB HD on this computer? Except for adding more memory, I never upgraded it, all the expansion slots and bays are available.
Thanks!B Lee wrote:

Virtually Mandatory!
And remember, a practical old time doctor starts by feeling his patient's purse!
You can: add a 120 GB HD; add two 120GB HDs, cloning your present drive to one of the new HDs; substitute 160GB (or larger) HDs for the 120GB HDs (remembering that your Sawtooth will read the first 128 GBs of the HDs;
Or: add an ACARD 6280 controller card that will format larger (ATA) HDs to read like SCSI drives, but will let your Sawtooth handle larger than 128GB size HDs. The ACARD is a good quality card, popular in G3 days, is compatible with your current HD(s), will expand capacity to as many as 4 of your 500GB HDs, and should be available at a very reasonable price on eBay. I don't know if it would affect an ability to clone back and forth from native to ACARD controller HDs, or how compatible it might be with external HDs or Target Drive Mode.
Or: you could purchase a 2002 Quicksilver (disclosure - my favourite) that would handle larger the HDs natively and probably do a few other things that later G4s do that Sawtooths (Sawteeth-?) don't.
Upgrading older Macs is great fun, but remember 'free' is often expensive so keep a firm hold on your wallet.
Enjoy... jws -
Need help installing a second hard drive into my G4.
I'm going to install a second drive into my G4. This is from an exact duplicate of my current computer. What do I need to do to get this into my computer...it has information on it now, but I don't need it. Please give me step by step instructions. Thanks Leigh
I just added drive(s) to my G4 450 (Sawtooth) and had boot problems and knew it had to do with jumper settings. I solved it however by putting my original boot drive in the upper portion of the carrier and a new drive in the lower portion. That way the data cables were syncing correctly.
Already had a SATA controller (2 connectors) with one drive on it and filled the second so now the ol Sawtooth is sporting 4 drives. -
What do I need to install?
OK, I am an Oracle newbie here, so go easy on me. Here at my job I just got a new computer and I need to figure out what Oracle products I need to install in order to continue doing my work.
My new PC is a 64-bit Windows 7 desktop computer. It has Crystal Reports 2008 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. Visual Studio also has Crystal Reports for Visual Studio installed. The work I do has me writing reports against the database our vendor-supplied software uses, which is an Oracle 10g database (I believe). I know that I currently use the Oracle 10g client on my old computer (32-bit Windows 7) to connect to this database.
In addition to running reports, I also have custom written console applications written in C# which query this Oracle database. It does this by referencing the Oracle.DataAccess DLL file. The version of that DLL is 10.2.0.100.
Now, my assumption was that I needed the Oracle Client installed, and since I was using the 10g client before, I looked for this again but in a 64-bit compatible version. It does not appear that this exists, or it did at one point and does not anymore. So I tried instead to use the 64-bit compatible version for 11g. I managed to get that installed and used the info from my old tnsnames.ora file to set up connections to my old production and development databases, but that was all the further I could get. I believe I also need something called Oracle Data Access installed as well, but I couldn't seem to find the right version of that.
Oracle is outside of the scope of what we normally do here in our shop, so I haven't managed to find anyone here who can assist me. I'm hoping the good folks here can tell me, based on what I have and what I need to do, what I need to install. If there is any more I can provide that will help (version numbers, etc.), just let me know. What do I need to install OSX on an A1095
My daughter sent me an older G4 PowerBook A1095 that had the hard drive erased after she stopped using it.
I want to get it operational; but don't have any Apple OS/X software to install on it.
What is the least expensive way of obtaining the O/S software I need to install on the machine?
Please advise,
Richard @ BizmartsI believe that this is the PowerBook you have.
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/specs/powerbook_g4_1.5_15.htm l
It came with OS 10.3.3 installed, however it can also run Tiger OS 10.4.x and Leopard OS 10.5.x. OS 10.3 is obsolete and it's difficult to find OS 10.4 or 10.5 installers, and if you find a copy it's usually $100+.
Another problem is that the Tiger and Leopard installers only have the system files and do not include any apps. Have you daughter look for the original install discs.
Another possibility. Suggest you join LEM-Swap for buying & selling Mac stuff. http://groups.google.com/group/lemswap After you join, post a WTB (want to buy). State what you need any maybe someone will have it.
Cheers, Tom
