What do I need to repair if screen unresponsive in cold weather?

So I am on a snowboarding trip and as in whatever you do nowadays you are not the only one with an iPhone, however on this trip, every time we were out in the cold (20's) my iphone was the only one that would not respond to my touch (no gloves ofcourse) I tried other's phones as some said my hands were too cold and ofcourse they worked. I borrowed other's cases just in case that was the problem, and no luck! Ofocurse reset the phone like 10 times and no difference. The only thing that worked for a while was sticking a toe warmer to the back of the phone!! the real iPad!! ok not funny.
I am obviously experiencing a hardware issue here, can anyone share if they have had this issue fixed out of warranty??
PS I have been able to replicate the problem just by putting the phone in front of the AC vent in MAX..

So does that mean i would only need to replace the glass? Or do i still need to replace the entire display?

I accidentally dropped my iPad 2 on Monday, it hit my foot, and the screen cracked. I recieved this iPad some time in August 2011, and no longer have any sort of warrany on it. OOooh. 1st hi everyone...i bought a new 5800 xm from about 5 months and it was so great and cheerfull and its firmware was v20. later i upgraded it to v21 and still no proplem but i started proplems by apdate to ver 30 and 31 ( latest ) i found my 5800 screen jams in cold weather or cold air condition many many horizontal and vertical lines appears on screen and i cant see anything even when somebody calls me i cant read his number or even his name.....REALLY WHAT A BIGGG PROPLEM.....is it a firmware proplem or a hardware proplem...and how i can fix it and what about the cost........my regards

My 5800 shuts down completely when temperature drops below 60F. Have sent it to repair, it came back with a note: "The following repair actions taken: Software Upgrade and Phone Reset". The phone still shuts down every time it is cold! I thought there is something wrong with the battery, but when you cool the phone without the battery and insert the "warm" battery, phone would not start up at all, only back light come up or it would start to vibrate non stop. Thank you for providing the details of the burning issue you are experiencing. I found some resources that I think might help:
First, I recommend resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac (I wasn't sure if you had a removable battery or a built in battery, so I listed the steps for both):

Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.
Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your ownNote: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

- See if placing the iPod in Recovery mode will allow a restore.. It bypasses the passcode (and erases the iPod)

Need to repair disk - what do I do????!!!

I've done a check on the disk utility and it says the following:
"Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Apple Hardrive needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair"
However it doesn't give me the choice to click 'repair disk'. Do I need to reinstall? If so what is the safest way of doing this?
If I don't need to reinstall, what should I do?

Do this:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
