Hello, I have Iphone 5 with Itunes music, airport express, 2 stereo speakers. What else do I need to hear music on the speakers?

    Hello ricsch,
It sounds like you want to setup your Airport Express to Airplay music from your iPhone 5.  I found an article with steps to help you get this setup:
Connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, exclusively for iTunes music
AirPort Express used exclusively for AirPlay by setting it up in Client Mode.
Choose this configuration if the computer containing your iTunes library may be out of direct range of the AirPort Express, but is within range of the Wi-Fi network.
    How to Set It Up
Connect your AirPort Express to your home stereo or powered speakers.
From your computer, join the wireless network. Use the AirPort status menu in the menu bar on a Mac. On a Windows-based computer, hold the pointer over the wireless connection icon until you see your AirPort network name (SSID), and choose it from the list if there are multiple networks available. Enter the network password, if necessary.
Open iTunes on your computer and choose the AirPort Express(es) you wish to stream music through from the speakers pop-up menu in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.
I also recommend reviewing the sections titled "Some things you should know about AirPort Express with AirPlay" and "Things to consider before you begin" in the full article:

  • Streaming music to the home stereo

I'm trying to figure out how to send streaming video to my stereo in the living room from my bedroom.
I have a G5 Mac running OSX 10.6.2, connected to an Airport Extreme.
What do I need to send streaming audio (preferably Pandora music) from the iMac to my stereo in my living room as far as software and hardware?

  • Streaming iPhone music wirelessly to home stereo?

I would love to be able to sit on my back deck and use my iPhone to play and control playing my playlists to my stereo inside the house to listen on my outdoor speakers. I have iPhone, I am installing Airport Extreme tonight, (currently have a Linksys wireless network) and my desktop PC is close enough to my stereo to run cables if need be. I basically want to use the iPhone as a remote control for the music. What do I need to make this a reality? Thanks

dont think it is possible to do

  • External hard drive crashed...need to move iTunes music files

I had all my music on an external hard drive which recently crashed. Fortunately I did have the library xml file on my laptop hard drive so I still have the library info, playlists, play count, etc. So I used 3rd party software to dump the music files from my iPod back on to another external hard drive. However, when I go to preferences and change the iTunes directory to that folder it still does not recognize the songs. I have gray exclamation marks beside each song and when I try to play songs it says that it can not locate the file. I have a huge library with close to 13,000 songs in it so I am really trying to figure out the easiest way to restore the music back to library so everything will play. Can someone please help me figure out what I need to do. So to summarize I still have the library xml files...I just need to know how to associate the actual songs with the library so that when I try to play a song I do not get an error message saying the file can not be found.

If I do that won't I have duplicates of songs and will the songs that are added have the play count and etc?

  • What is the best format for itunes music to play via Airport Exress

    Hi,
My entire music collection on my itunes was either ripped from CD or purchased from itunes store.
I currently have the latest version of itunes software.
I stream my airtunes via ethernet (Devolo plugs one plugged into my router - the other downstairs plugged into my AX via ethernet cable)connected to electricty circuit, connected to my AX (802.11g) connected to a very good quality amp and speakers (all bi -wired cabling from amp to speakers).
Not all the time but there are certain songs that sound "tinny" to me, the music overshadows the lyrics and I need to play the tune quite loud just to get any feeling for the song. Jazz music also seems overly complex for the airtunes even when purchased from itunes. I was wondering if there is a specific file type or setting that would improve the sound quality ?
I'm not an aficionado but i would have thought there was enough quality to create a decent sound and I'm sure I have not set something up properly.

The editor of Stereophile magazine has tested an AE, and found that it was capable of bit-accurate output. For example, if iTunes has a 16/44.1 file, you will get an exact replica of that file streaming digitally via the AE.
Having said that, they have also concluded that Apple Lossless Compression is also bit-accurate. As such, if you were to rip your CD's using ALC, you will get a perfect digital copy when streaming through an AE. They will of course take up much more space than AAC or MP3.
I have just added a AE to my network, and find that the sound (when using its optical output) is exceedingly good when using ALC based files.
One additional bit of information though is that they tested the analog outputs of the AE, and in terms of the lab measurements found them to be poor. Lab measurements and what you actually hear may not always agree, but since the digital output is essentially transparent to the source, that is the route I have taken.
As for your situation, music purchased from iTunes is, at best, 256K AAC. Fine for ear buds, but probably not suitable for playback over a proper stereo system. And if you have left iTunes at its default settings, you are using 128K AAC for rips from your CD's. Again, quite unacceptable for serious listening.
The settings for importing are found at iTunes Preferences/Advanced/Importing. I would suggest making some test rips of the same music at different settings, including Apple Lossless, and see how those sound over your equipment.

  • What do I need to send back?

My service terminates today and I have already recieved the big green envelope to send back the equipment.
But what do they want?  Just the box and the hub?  I would like to keep the homeplugs if I could. And do they want the wires because I can't even remember what it came with. I think the HDMI plugged into the TV box is mine but I can't remember for sure.

    Thanks for that.
My experience leads me to believe that BT haven't got a clue what equipment you have anyway. So, especially as you've had the service more than 12 months, I'd just send back what you want to and nothing more.
You are probably right.  I just need this to go right.  I am facing the next few weeks without broadband and I have almost certainly lost my landline number and I need to find a new provider that will activate my line again. The last thing I need is BT trying to bill me for equipment.
I am still fully expecting them to try and bill me for cancellation charges even though I cancelled within 10 days of the price rises notifcation.

  • No matter what I try - unable to use iTunes music store

My iTunes account info has my correct credit card info (expires in 2008) yet I keep getting an error message saying 'credit card is about to expire.' And that's not the case.
I emailed Apple and got their suggestion which included things like 'select NONE' in the credit card, log out, log back in and re-enter the information. I've done that a million times and still I am unable to use my active credit card to purchase music.
Yet I WAS able to do a gift iTunes certificate going through Apple's online store.
I have no idea why this problem persists. I'm using the latest iTunes, 10.4.7 - and nothing I've done makes it better.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?

I've always been partial to Numark and Audio-Technica. Have several DJ friends and a client who runs a DJ business, and they use Audio-Technica stuff almost exclusively.
You may be surprised at how easy it is...
With the exception of cameras (webcams especially) Macs are pretty much "Plug &Play" with anything USB, and even though I've never used one, reviews say you just plug the turntable in and it reads as a drive.

  • Streaming iTunes music via AppleTV to stereo

This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to answer it:
I've just received an AppleTV device as a gift. I understand it's stated use, to stream content to a TV.
However, I'd like to stream music from my iTunes library on my office computer to the stereo receiver in the living room. Can AppleTV do this? How would the configuration work? I tried this with an Airport, but was told (at a genius bar) it wouldn't work since I connect wirelessly to the internet.
    Thanks.

You would need a TV to set up wireless network info, accept any updates, add your iTunes store account details so that you can set up Home Sharing with your computers copy of iTunes and change settings to your liking. Once it's all set up you could if need do away with the TV.
I've seen forum posts on using digital to analogue converters but I've no experience myself - might be worth posting a new question for that specific question.
    Hope that's helpful.

  • How do I get iTunes music to stream to stereo?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and a Time Capsule. The Time Capsule has been connected to a cable modem.
Now my old Airport Express will not work. It's light glows amber. Is there a way to use this Airport Express only for music streaming, even though there's a Time Capsule? Should I install my old Airport Express (and/or Airport Extreme software that came with it) on the new MBP? Other solutions?
    Thanks in advance for advice.

You need to reconfigure the express to join your network. Use the airport utility that came with Time capsule. First open airport utility to manually configure Time capsule. Note the name you've given to your network, and note the channel it is operating on. Next disconnect Time capsule ethernetly from the macbook if you are hard wired to it. If you are using airport wirelessly, unplug Time capsule and plug in the express. This should bring the express visable to the airport utility. If not click on the airport icon in the upper right corner of the macbook to connect to the express network. You now need to reconfigure the express so that it joins your network, filling in the network name, and changing the channel to the same as Time capsule. To do this click manual update, change your selection to "join a network" fill in the network Time capsule name, change the channel to the same as Time capsule. Click update, wait for the update to finish, note airport utility may not be able to find the express after the update, but now unplug the ethernet from the express, if you were hard wired, plug it back into Time capsule, if you were hard wired, wait for Time capsule to show up in airport utility and express should be there as well. in which case you are golden to stream airtunes. If Time capsule does't show up and you're using the macbook wirelessly go to the airport icon again to connect to your Time capsule network  Good luck I've spent numerous hours trying to get express' and extremes to play nice together. It's nowhere as easy as the ads suggest.

  • What is the best way to share music wirelessy at home using a external hard disk?

We would like to find the best way we can access wirelessly our music track stored on a external hard disk at home?  We would it to be able to access them by using MAC, PCs, iPads, Android and iphones.

Personally, I use MobileMe and let my family watch the movies on line. It is easy to share this way. I share the movie in Large (960x540) or Medium to iTunes. Then I share to Mobile Me.
For personal viewing, I use the Apple TV.
You can also burn a data DVD of your finished movie, and let them copy the file to iTunes from their data DVD.
You can upload the movie to other video sharing services such as YouTube or Vimeo.
You can burn a blu-ray disk if you have Toast and a BluRay burner. You can burn a short movie to regular DVD media using Toast and a regular DVD burner that is playable on most BluRay Players.
