What do I need to upgrade my CS2 to CS5?

I have Adobe CS2 and would like to upgrade it to a more current version. Do I have to buy the whole thing new or can I just by an upgrade disc? Can I buy a CS5 upgrade or do I have to purchase CS3 then 4 ect?

So if I buy the Cs5 upgrade I should be able to upgrade to cs5 from cs2?
Theoretically, yes but you cannot buy CS5 from Adobe anymore so you'd have to get it from elsewhere - if you can find it.
Bear in mind that there's a high likelihood of buying pirated or counterfeit copies online. It's very hard to check that they're genuine and you'll never know for sure until you try entering your serial number - and then it may be too late to get your money back if the serial number is rejected.
Is it possible to purchase just Photoshop up grade?
Only if you already own Photoshop CS2 and not a CS2 Suite.
You cannot upgrade a CS2 Suite to just Photoshop CS5.
Your best bet is to subscribe to Photoshop CC 2014+LR for $10/month. Just make sure you've got the hardware to run it first BEFORE you sign up.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

You have to call Apple to get 10.6 first somehow, as they removed it from the online store.

  • Can I remove photoshop cs2 after I have upgraded from cs2 to cs5?

Can I remove Photoshop CS2 after I have upgraded from CS2 to CS5?  I upgraded from CS2 to CS5 quite a while ago and I have never removed CS2.  Will it affect CS5 to remove the old CS2 if it was an upgrade?

If I were you I would just delete the installed  Adobe CS2 folder. Adobe CS2 uninstaller my remove settind CS5 made to your system after CS2.   The CS2 uninstaller may try to restore settings to a point in time where there was no Photoshop installed on your system.  If you do a CS un-install you may need to then Install CS5 on top of itself the update cs5 for the install will not have the updates you will be back at CS5 level .

  • What do i need to uninstall and reinstall photoshop cs5 extended windows 7 32-bit?

what do i need to uninstall and reinstall photoshop cs5 extended windows 7 32-bit?

Photoshop CS5 Extended suddenly stopped recognizing my NVIDIA 3D card (NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M). No 3D graphics will work in Photoshop. An Adobe online tech worked with me on it for about an hour. We concluded that I would go try to update the NVIDIA driver. The NVIDIA website is frustrating. The boxes to input my card model and system do not work.
Nawang uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop (my question below was about how to do that, but he did it for me and that did not help.)
My card is 3D capable. I used Repousse 3D effect two days ago and it worked fine. Now it is not working, all 3D controls are grayed out.

  • I want to upgrade from CS2 to CS5.

I want to upgrade from CS2 to CS5. Will my system requirements be adequate? Thank you!
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name:          iMac
    Model Identifier:          iMac7,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:          2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors:          1
    Total Number Of Cores:          2
L2 Cache (per processor):          4 MB
    Memory:          4 GB
    Bus Speed:          800 MHz

I don't think you will be able to upgrade to CS5 as it is not for sale thru Adobe.  I don't think anyone outside of Adobe sells upgrades.  Thru Adobe you would have to purchase a full version of CS6 (or subscribe to the CLoud)... there is no upgrade path from CS2 to CS6

  • What will I need to upgrade my Macbook Pro's HDD to an SSD?

I wanted to know what I would need in order to upgrade my early 2011 Macbook Pro's HDD to an SSD. What should I consider before making the change from an HDD to an SSD? Also what are the pros and cons to making this change - excluding the price of the drive of course.
I have read in some places that changing form an HDD to an SSD will reduce battery life but I am getting mixed information about this because some articles say how it actually improves batterly life.
I also read that a lot of SSDs are incompatible with Macbook Pros and so it worries me that I would invest this much money for no reason. Another thing I am uncertain about is what SATA to get, I believe the early 2011 MBP has SATA III, but I've read that the SSDs don't perform at SATA III speeds.
In short, I don't know much about the specifications, but if you guys can elaborate on them and suggest the right thing to do would be great. Also, what kind of kits or seperate parts would I need beside the actual SSD to do this upgrade.
    Thanks in advance.

Another thought about cloning to an SSD.
I've done my fair share of cloning to new drives to only later sanitize (zero out) it and do a fresh install.  I think cloning is a great alternative for Mac OS's 10.6.X and below, but for 10.7X and above A fresh install is MY preferred choice.
As Bimmer mentioned "if you have unresolved issues with your Macbook, that gets copied over to your new drive when you do a clone...".
Sure it takes a little longer but you'll feel better in the end.  When you take out the OLD drive save it for a few weeks after installing the NEW drive (SSD) just to make sure your new drive is working properly.  That way if the new drive fail just swap them back.
Get all your ducks in a row before you start.
    1.  Solid backup
    2.  Boot disk Snow Leopard and below or Boot USB drive with Lion or Mountain Lion
    3.  Fast Internet connection, either LAN (fastest) or WAN (will work)
I'm willing to walk you through it and sure Bimmer will do the same.  Just let us know when your ready, hopefully you have a second computer to commutate.
    Good Luck!

  • I have a Mac BookPro 0S X 10.6.8 what do I need to upgrade

I have a Mac BookPro 0S X 10.6.8 what do I need to do so Im ready for when the new Mountain Lion comes out this summer? Do I need lion first if so what one?   I have always used a PC so if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it..

Far as anyone knows, some 64 bit Mac's will be excluded as not having enough graphics muscle to handle Mountain Lion.
    http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2012/02/whats-keeping-mountain-lion-off-of-som e-64-bit-macs.ars
If your on 10.6.8, my advice is to stay there, you have the maximum range of available software for that OS X version and all third party hardware, games and utilites etc., are still working fine for that OS version.
Right now some developers are transgressing to 10.7 Lion, many have started or not going to at all,
A lot just got blindsided with the 10.8 announcement as Lion has only been out several months.
You can see right here what I'm talking about, still a mixed bag with 10.7.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Actually you don't need to upgrade to 10.7, if something messes up on your machine your left on your own or have to call in a profe$$ional to rescue you.
There is no "must have" on Lion 10.7 really for most users to justsify the risk upgrading and many feel the drastic changes are unrealistic, it's just Apple pushing the envelope and changing the OS just for the heck of it to sell new hardware.
10.6 is the fastest, best OS X version Apple has ever made. Plus third party software is plentiful.
Until the same conditions exist again, I don't advise buying a new machine or OS upgrade until it does in your case.

  • Why am I having performance Issues with an upgrade from CS2 to CS5.5?

I am struggling hard with an upgrade from InDesign CS2 to CS5.5 (part of CS5.5 Design Standard)
There is a very slow response when trying to produce a 45 page document which needs many .jpeg images inserting, sometimes up to six on each 3-column page. While InDesign behaves sort of normally on text only pages, it slows to a virtual standstill when on the pages with images. (But this is what its for and I didn't have this problem with CS2!!)
Having read through some of the postings on this topic I have followed all the advice without success :-(
    1) disable LSD in Preferences – Interface
    2) disable thumbnail display in Pages
    3) adjust view settings to Typical with Raster and Vector Images greyed out
    4) disable Save Preview Images with Documents
    5) check Links before opening documents
    7) switch Preflight off
I shouldn't need to do all this should I???
I am operating with the following:
Packard Bell ixtreme M5740 64 bit
Intel Core i5 CPU [email protected]
    4.0 GB RAM
ATII Radeon HD5570 graphics card 2779 MB available memory, 1024MB dedicated
plenty of free space – 274GB on c: drive and 296 GB on a D: drive
My hardware conforms to/exceeds the Indesign recommended hardware spec. Oh yes I am working on my local drive and  I don't have these problems with Photoshop or Illustrator CS5.5.
Has anyone an idea about what's going on?
I've lost a good 6-8 hours so far trying to sort it out. Any help and observations will be gratefully received!

    Hi Peter
Thanks - I've found that the files were marked as 'hidden' and thus by switching them on gain I was able to recreate the original location.  Regrettably this has had absolutely no effect on my problem. :-(
I have now created a  fresh document, studiously linking all my images properly  (similar number to a DK 'Eyewitness Travel Guide') and by the time I got halfway through its 80 pages, InDesign had slowed to a crawl - ie 15-20 seconds to respond to any command.  It is clearly doing something that it thinks necessary despite all the 'workarounds' people have suggested. Please please Adobe what's going on???

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS5 multi-questions

    A few questions actually..
I very recently just bought an upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS5. Everything went well but I don't understand a few, possibly trivial, things.
During the installation process, I in no way had to supply information about my CS2 licence to prove that I even have it. How do you guys make sure that someone who doesn't own a previous version of Photoshop isn't saying that they want an upgrade, thus avoiding the full price of the product?
Also, when you upgrade, does your old previous version license become deactivated? Are you suppossed to remove it from your computer or some other process?
Lastly, when I downloaded the upgrade, I downloaded both CS5 for 32 and 64 bit by default as they were both there. Do I need both on my computer and what's the difference between using/having the two?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to clarify.
    Thanks in advance!

If you purchased and upgrade then it should ask for a qualifying serial number.  It is also possible you purchased an upsell which means you were basically given a copy of the full version at a discounted price.  The qualification process is done when you purchase the software.
You can continue to use your CS2 license.  You can not however sell it as it is qualifying you to utilize CS5.
For questions about 64-bit I would recommend reviewing http://blogs.adobe.com/scottbyer/2006/12/64_bitswhen.html

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS5?

I just upgraded to a new Intel-based Mac Pro after my old 2006 Pro PPC bit the dust. I know I cannot run CS2 on the new machine, and was pricing out the replacement software.
I cannot find on the Adobe site if I can use my old CS2 license (it is Design Premium) to apply toward purchasing the CS5 upgrade. And also looking at the new software out there, for those running OSX 10.7 what has your experience been with Lion and CS5?
Thanks in advance for your advice and thoughts.

CS5 is no longer available. You'll need to upgrade to CS5.5.
    Here's the CS2 to CS5.5 Design Premium Upgrade:http://amzn.to/kZOsu7
Your timing is pretty good. CS2 is the earliest version eligible for upgrade pricing. Should the current policy hold, you'll be out in the cold when the next version ships.

  • Upgrade from CS2 to CS5 leaves CS2 applications

Is it normal for a CS2 to CS5 upgrade to leave all the CS2 and Studio 8 apps installed?  Be nice to buy back some space but I don't want to mess things up.
    Tom

    Thanks.
So, like me, you think the old versions should have been deleted by the install.
It turns out Acrobat (9 Pro) is installed separately in CS5 (separate DVD, separate license code) and all previous versions of Acrobat had to be deleted before installing.

  • Cs5: upgrading from CS2 to CS5 PC to Mac...need help shrinking file sizes

I am designing wallpapers for cellphones and was given very specific guidelines of various dimensions and file size (based on the different devices), 96 dpi, and PNG format. When working on my PC using Ps CS2, I would drag or copy/paste images from AI (CS I think) into PS. I found that the file size was lower when doing that. I would then do a "save as", and successfully keep to the given specs.
When I tried this on my Mac, using an image that I previously saved on my pc as a test, the file sizes were always over what they needed to be. I can't seem to figure out what the difference could be. I couldn't do a "save for web" because the dpi would come back as 72 when the file is opened. I tried that once and I was told to re-save the images again...and each image is saved over 100 times.  My PC went down and I've not been able to continue the work since.
Does anyone have a clue what I can do to fix this? I am totally baffled at this point. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

I'm on PC/Windows 7. I had enough issues getting CS2 installed on Windows 7, but it can be done. I just wanted some assurance that Dreamweaver installation doesn't remove GoLive. Thanks!

  • What do I need to upgrade to Sharepoint 2013 Server

    Hello Community
At this point using Sharepoint 2010 Server and the UI I have built an intranet
consisting of a 2 server farm (DC and Sharepoint 2010 Server both on Windows 2008 Server).
But the goal is to move up to Sharepoint 2013 Server which might not be a
    straight forward upgrade.
So the question is what version of Windows Server does Sharepoint 2013 Server
use,  how do you copy the Windows 2008 Server DC and Sharepoint 2010 Server onto
the Windows Server version that Sharepoint 2013 Server will run on?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Shabeaut,
Just to elaborate a little more, there's not a direct version upgrade from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013, like there was in previous versions.  The only way to directly transfer or copy content from SharePoint 2010 is by the
database attach method, which is basically copying the content database files from SP2010's SQL server to the SQL server used by your SP2013 farm.
There are many differences in the architecture between SP2010 and SP2013, so a good amount of research and planning is involved as well as a much larger recommended server farm.  Start with reading the TechNet article posted by Paul Stork
to start getting an idea of the actual steps, but upgrading from SP2010 to SP2013 is a major effort.
    have fun,
    Tony
