What do I need to watch you tube videos on my mini mac 10.9

When I try to watch certain you tube videos a pop up states to download adobe flash but my mac mini os v. 10.9 can't seem to download the recommended adobe flash player. What is my alternative to this problem, please anyone.... I am you tubeless in Michigan

Update your browser (Safari, Firefox, etc.), then update Flash. Flash is best updated from the "Flash Player" option in System Preferences--don't respond to pop-ups that try to guide you to sites not run by Adobe. That's a sure path to malware.

    Hi herbie13!
It sounds like you will still want to link your iPad and computer, but you want to prevent the iPad from syncing information from your computer to your iPad. I have an article here for you that can help tell you how to set this up:
    iOS: Syncing with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
You will want to follow the steps here to set up the iPad for syncing, but when it comes time to sync, you'll just want to make sure that the boxes for syncing the multitude of items that you can sync remain unchecked so that none of that information gets synced into the iPad.
Another note: your second Apple ID will not be able to access the apps, music, movies, tv shows, etc., that you have purchased under your primary Apple ID. Even though it seems that the secondary Apple ID still has access to those items, that is just because you are viewing your second Apple ID through the iTunes Store section on your computer and you have those items saved locally on your computer. You will need to repurchase and download all of the content that you wish to use again on your second Apple ID, if that is what you wish to solely use on this iPad.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

    Well, you can.
Can you give some detail of how you're trying to watch them, and/or what error your getting?
Otherwise, it's a guessing game as to why you can't.

  • No sound watching you tube videos

I now have lion on my iMac. I cannot get sound while watching you tube videos. An x appears over the sound icon. How can I get the sound to come on.
    Thanks!

You should re-post this Topic in the appropriate Forum for your hardware and OS version.  This Forum is designated for the PowerPC processor-based iMacs - none of which can run Lion.  If you choose the Intel-based iMac Forum or the Lion Forum, you will likely get help from other users who may have run into the identical problem with the same setup.

  • I can't watch You Tube videos via WiFi but I can in 3G.

This is on all iDevices - not just iPad.  It's a new router that supports Smart Wi-Fi apps.
Why?  Is this a setting?  And it only seems to be You Tube.  It says Playback Error
    or Video Not Available.
    Thoughts?

What is the manufacturer and model of your router?
It is possible it is a security setting in the router or the DNS servers it is using. In both cases you'll have to change the settings.
If you are using a school or work network the content is probably restricted by the people running the network. Not much you can do here other than bring it to their attention. Adding a wireless router to these networks may also be against their rules too.

  • I cannot watch you tube video on my mac book air.

I cannot play you tube on my mac book air.  Actually maybe about 10% of things out there might play but most things I cannot play.

Have you downloaded Flash? You need it to play some YouTube videos.
    You can get it Here

  • Solved Can't watch You-Tube Videos

I've checked the Wiki and the search function, and can't find anything relating to setting up my box to view You-Tube (and others) videos. I tried installing flash, and it caused a browser crash, so that was no help. If someone can steer me to the right place, I'd appreciate it.

By the way as a little tip - avoid installing anything on arch by methods other than pacman. Pacman just makes it so much easier for version control, tracking, and removal. For anything that is not in the repos it is sure to be in the AUR, and if not you can even make your own PKGBUILD for it to make it into a packman package.
Check out this pacman frontend that gives you aur support if you don't already have it:

Thanks Statix; I didn't know it was in the repos, I'm still working on reading the Wiki, etc. (I'm old, slow and half deaf, but I'm steady .
    The browser plugin for Gnash?
I tried using AUR, and wasn't successful ..... I'll take a look at it
Well, I looked -- I don't know if I'll be able to install Yaourt, since you have to use AUR to install it, and as I said before, I wasn't successful getting AUR to work for me, I've tried it several times and flubbed it every time. I'll try it again, and if I'm not successful this time, I'll start a new thread on that. Thanks for the link!

  • Why can't I watch you tube videos any more

why cannot watch YouTube video anymore my Since updating to iOS six

YouTube is not now part of iOS 6.
However, you can go to the App Store and do a search using YouTube. You can download several YouTube apps: YouTube (for the iPhone, a IPad app is in work), several users  like Jasmine and YouPlayer.

I cant watch youtube videos on my ipod touch 4g because every time i click on a video it says in order to watch videos, please enable plug-ins in safari settings but every time I go on to safari settings there is no option to enable plug ins agghhhhhhhhh please some one help

You have to use the YouTube app and not Safari. A lot of YouTube videos are displayed via Flash with a nornal browser and the iPod (and iPhone and iPad) do not suport the Flash plug in.

  • I have an ipad 2 and when connected to my wifi at home it will not download and play you tube videos quickly.  Do I need to upgrade my connenction speed?  What is the optimal speed?

I have an ipad2.  When connected to my wifi at home it will not download you tube videos for easy viewing.  Do I need to upgrade my connection speed?  Would 3 Mbps be enought or do I need to go to 6 Mbps.  I mainly use my ipad to view emails, browse the internet and watch you tube videos.
    thanks - Michelle

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
There are a number of factors in the 'speed' equation. Any or all of them can affect the 'observed' speed of your connection.
    1. Are you in a neighborhood full of WiFi routers (and thus, lots of WiFi interference)? I can 'see' at least 22 other WiFi routers from my living room!
    2. What is the maximum connect speed and band and bandwidth available from your wireless router. Is it 802.11n or the older 802.11a/b/g? 300Mbits or 150Mbits? 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz or both? Does your router measure (QoS) Quality of Service and can it change 'channels' automatically?
    3. What is the observed strength of your wireless connection? Are you getting at least 80% signal when connected? Are there other people in your family also using significant bandwidth at the same time (Netflix, streaming video, streaming audio, game systems)
    4. What is the "advertised" speed of your current ISP connection?
    5. What is the measured throughput of your current setup.  Go to speedtest.net or use the free speedtest.net app available in the App Store.  Try several times, from different locations in your home, and at different times of day and night.
I have AT&T DSL advertised at 3Mbit/sec down and 512Kbit/sec up. My Speedtest.net measured throughput is about 2.4 Mbit/sec downstream and upstream is about 0.4Mbit/sec. I'm using a Motorola Netopia 2210-2 DSL modem. I have no problem viewing YouTube videos and other mobile video content on the iPad 2.  I'm connected wirelessly to a D-Link DIR-655 Gigabit router rated at 150Mbps at 2.4Ghz (only) with 802.11 b/g/n enabled. The interior of my home is within a range of 30-50 feet from the router and no more than 1 wall.  It is a single level concrete slab foundation of about 1500 sq. ft. with cathedral ceilings. I have successfully streamed ESPN3.com on my MacBook at the same time my son was streaming another ESPN3.com game on his MacBook Pro. I've streamed YouTube videos while my son was watching a NetFlix movie on his Wii game system. He's also successfully used Skype for extended 'teleconferences.' None of my devices are connected to HDMI on a large screen TV. 95% of the time, I can do iChat video without any signal breakup to my son (who is at a college with a Gigabit (1000Mbit) wired connection!). 5% of the time the connection drops. We haven't tried FaceTime (designed for mobile connections to be much less bandwidth-intensive, from what I understand) simply because we both have iChat on our computers.
So for me, a 3Mbit DSL connection is absolutely adequate, given all the other parameters mentioned. As the car manufacturers say, "Your mileage may vary."

  • Why is Firefox crashing when I am playing You Tube favorites playlists and other You Tube videos?

Lately within the last 2-3 weeks I have had a lot of crashes on my computer when I am running Firefox version 3.6.3 and trying to watch You Tube videos. It seems to only crash when I am on You Tube. It crashes even quicker when I am on Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. I have installed the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer recently. I never had trouble watching You Tube videos until recently. The You Tube site will open, I sign in, and then I go to my subscriptions or favorites and select a video. It will begin to play, get a minute or so in, and then I get the error message that it's crashed.

I am not sure I did this right. This is what I did: right-mouse clicked on the desktop, whent to properties, went to display properties, went to settings, clicked on advanced tab, and then clicked on troubleshooting tab. There I drug the hardware acceleration slider to the left to disable it, clicked ok twice as directed, restarted the computer and then I couldn't get firefox to open at all, but I went to internet explorer and got on you tube and tried to watch a video, but it crashed again.
So I don't think that worked. I couldn't figure out how to disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin, but did it on the desktop instead. Are there different steps I need to take to accomplish this?
    Thank you!
