my little brothers forgot his password which he has used to stop anybody else accessing his ipad. does anybody know what i can do to solve this?

If he's forgotten the passcode then he will need to connect the iPad to the computer that he normally syncs to and he should then be able to reset the iPad and re-sync his content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - he may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

This has happened to a few users. Try using the same password that you log onto your computer with. Other passwords that may work 11111 and 12345.

Hi I'm Zeina Halim. I have an iPad 4 and I forgot its password. So I kept trying over and over again till it said iPad is disabled connect to iTunes. One problem I've never synced my iPad and apple is telling me the only way to reset the password is to erase all data from the iPad. So I'm asking is there another solution or can I atleast import the photos on some device before I erase it. Pls answer fast because I REALLY need to use it. Thank you

    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
     When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
     Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
     instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

     OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
If you are unable to boot from an installer DVD:
(these will only work on Leopard or earlier)
1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down
      the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each
      command line:
     /sbin/fsck -yf
     If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command
     until you do. If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK"
     message, then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
     mount -uw /
     cd /private/var/db/netinfo
     mv local.nidb local.old
     rm ../.AppleSetupDone
     shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
Reset Admin Password Using The Terminal
You can reset the password by printing out (or writing down) and carefully following these steps.
First, find the short name of the admin user on the machine. The easiest way of doing this is by looking at what the directory is called in the Users folder.
Now, start in Single-user Mode. It should boot into a command line.
Enter these exact lines. Press RETURN after each.
mount -uw /
ifconfig lo0 up
cd /var/db/netinfo
netinfod -s local
Now you'll need that short name. Enter "passwd", a space, and the short name of the admin. For example, if the admin was rather prosaically called "imadmin", you would enter "passwd imadmin".
The computer will now prompt you to change the password for "lmadmin" (or whatever the short name was). Go ahead and enter a new password.
Now, enter:
sync
reboot
and the machine will reboot. The admin password should now be changed.

If you don't have your install disc handy, then follow these steps
1. Start up in single-user mode (hold Command-S as the computer starts up).
2. Type: mount -uw /
3. Press Return.
4. Type this:
passwd (user's short name)
Replace "(user's short name)" with the short name of the user account whose password you wish to reset. If you are not sure what the account name is, you can get a list of user names by typing: ls /Users
5. Press Return.
6. Enter a new user password.
7. Press Return.
8. Type: reboot
9. Press Return.

Nothing we can do to help you if you can't remember your password. There's no way around this. If you can't remember your password, you can't use the backup. Pure and simple.

I'm considering a switch to iWork from Microsoft Office, but as a teacher who's often in labs that only have Microsoft Office or at other universities where they might want me to present on a computer that does not have Keynote, what happens if I forget to export a doc or ppt?
I'll probably have my laptop with me to convert, but what if I'm caught without? It happened to my students many times—they would be up late preparing for a presentation on their home computers and forget to convert to ppt. Then they had a presentation that they could not show.
I suppose it's a silly question. If you can learn to constantly save, you should be able to remember to export a few version of an important presentation...but what if you computer dies and all of your pages fils on your hard drive won't even open up on a readily available free program like text edit. At least Word docs open in text edit...
