What do you do if you Macbook (not pro) says 'Connection Timeout'?

My macbook say 'connection timeout' when i tyr to connect to my netgera Wifi. i have connected other computers to it and it worked fine. I need help QUICK

Sam here. Netgear router.
Both my black MacBook (10.6.8) and MacBoook Pro (10.6.8) started showing the exact same problem around the same time.  The MacBook Pro can connect to my company's wifi w/o any problem.
I first suspected that the Netgear router is disintegrating, but my Android phone, Kindle and Lexmark printer can connect to the router via wifi w/o a problem. It's only Mac-Netgear that doesn't work.
Sometimes the wifi connection icon shows a normal connection with strongest signal, but 90% of the IP packets drop, according to the result of ping command.  Strange.

For the ipad 2, what do you do when it says connection to the server failed ?  This has happened for the past two days.  I have changed nothing.  It happens at home and at work.  What do you do?  What has happened?  Thank you.

What are you trying to do when you get this error message? Is it related to mail, connecting to the iTunes store, Facebook/iMessage, your internet ISP? All of these are different servers.

  • What does it mean i can't get online says connection timeout?

what does it mean that i have a connection timeout.. i cant get online

It basically means that your Mac's AirPort wireless adapter is unable to connect to or cannot find a Wi-Fi network. Please check out the following Apple Support article for details on troubleshooting wireless connections with your Mac.

  • What does "You do not have sufficient access privileges" mean?

    Hello Gurus!
I am wondering what does "You do not have sufficient access privileges" mean? I have a G$ with 2 internal hard drives. One has OSX 10.3.9 loaded on it and the other has OSX 10.4.7 loaded on it. When I boot up in 10.4.7 and try to access (open or copy) anything in the the desktop, documents, library, movies, music or pictures folders in my user folder on the 10.3.9 disk, it tells me that "I do not have sufficient access privileges"! This is a single user machine and it automatically logs in as me... the administrator. I tried to look at Apple's technical documents regarding permissions and privileges, but it is very confusing with all of it's terminal commands and lingo. Does anyone know an easy (and hopefully GUI) way around this problem?
    Thanks Much,
    Mark

If you have a different system on each HD then you do not have a single user machine. The user on one system/boot volume is not the same user as the one on the other, even if they ahve the same name and password. If you boot from the 10.3 volume, you can select your user folder, go to File-Get Info, and change the access for others to read and write and click on the apply to enclosed items button. You should then be able to boot from the other system and move stuff around as you see fit. Of course, this is not a terribly secure state to leave your system in, as anyone who can gain access to your Mac can get at everything on your 10.3 home folder.
If you try this route, I'd suggest doing it only long enough to move everything to one home folder and then revert the access privs to the way they were.

what does "you do not have enough genius suggestions in your library to use this feature mean?

At face value it would suggest the content of your library is too obscure, however it might mean your library is too small for the feature to be active, or that it hasn't catalogued your content yet.

  • What if you do not have access to your alternative suggestions?

I know I have a question.  What if you do not have access to your alternative suggestions above?  Are we supposed to rely on whatever scraps are available by SkyDrive or some such?  You are taking one of the easiest to use programs - one that woked well - and as I see it, you  have NOTHING to offer.
I might have to take a second look at increasing my Adobe 'repository' and stop adding to it.  This is the second time a provider has pulled the plug on me and my projects.  Though small some may be, it takes 10x the work to modify everything and find some place to house these.  Nothing is forever, but my works seems so since I have to keep moving and setting up shop somewhere else!  Just a bit frustrating.
    Ginny

    Hi Ginny,
Thank you for taking the time to post; I understand your frustration at having to find an alternative service. How have you been using Workspaces? I'd be happy to offer some suggestions where possible.
Since you mention using Workspaces as a repository, you might be interested in checking out Acrobat.com. While it doesn't include the any authoring apps like Workspaces does (e.g. Buzzword and Tables), Acrobat.com is a convenient tool for storing and sharing files and accessing them across multiple platforms and devices. We'll be adding features and functionality over time, so you can look forward to consistent development and maintenance on the service; as an added bonus, you can use Adobe Reader on your iOS or Android device to access the documents you have stored there.
Let me know if you'd like more information on Acrobat.com or if you have any other questions about Workspaces.
    Best,
    Rebecca

What do you do when iTunes says the required disk cannot be found?

Quit iTunes, restart your iPad, restart your computer and then try again.
If you have another USB to dock connector cable - use that one when you try again. Use another USB port on the computer as well.

  • 3ds max on a MacBook (not pro)

    Hi,
i’ve been thinking of purchasing a MacBook (not Pro) but i do need 3ds on it I know that I would have to run it through windows but would the MacBook have good enough specs to run it?
    Here are the MacBook specs:
    * 2.0GHz or 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
    * 4MB shared L2 cache running at full processor speed
    * 800MHz frontside bus
    * 1GB (two 512MB SO-DIMMs) of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300); two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB
I would appreciate any advice and especially some from people that have tried or are currently running 3ds on their Mac via Windows…
    Thank you people

I've got basically the same spec, only 2GB ram, and run Max on the Windows side.
You shouldn't have a problem, but it TOTALLY depends on the complexity of your scene. If you're trying to do any sort of serious shader work - with either VRay or Mental Rar - you're going to be waiting a long time for your renders.
That's what it really gets down to - render times. The MacBook just doesn't have the horsepower for serious Max use, but should get you by for light work. These days, anything but a dual, dual core - or dual quad core - just isn't acceptable.
Also, 1GB or RAM is a bit light.

  • Which VISTA for MacBook (not Pro) 2GB 160GB HD w/Paralells

QUESTION: Can MacBook handle BUSINESS or ULTIMATE VISTA?
    BACKGROUND:
-- I am buying new Core 2 Duo Macbook (not Pro) with 2GB Memory and 160GB HD (currently have original Core Duo Macbook)
-- This will be 'virgin' machine (no Windows OS or Boot Camp or Paralells on machine yet)
-- For my needs I would normally buy VISTA HOME PREMIUM
-- But VISTA legal (End User Legal Agreement) forbids use of BASIC or HOME PREMIUM versions on virtual maChine (like PARALELLS) -- Blog on PARALELLS website confIrms this
-- So must use BUSINESS or ULTIMATE Version legally
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Can Core 2 Duo MacBook 2GB 160GB HD Handle these larger VISTA versions?
    2. Can original Core Duo Macbook with 2GB do so?

    MacBook (1st Gen) 2GB 60GB HD (MA255ll/A) Mac OS X (10.4.8) Buying new MacBook Core 2 Duo 2GB 160GB HD
    MacBook (1st Gen) 2GB 60GB HD (MA255ll/A) Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    MacBook (1st Gen) 2GB 60GB HD (MA255ll/A)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I think that's answered. You can allocate as much of your 2 GBs to Parallels as you want provided you maintain sufficient RAM for OS X. So, if you allocate 1 GB to the VM that's sufficient for Vista.
    Question answered.
Now, for Parallels specific questions regarding installing or running Vista you will find help at http://forums.parallels.com.

To transfer your current hard drive I like the applications Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. They make a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive. http://www.bombich.com/index.html or http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then format and partition the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one and put your old one in the external case.
