What do you do to work with DVD's?

I just purchased a new iMac desk top after my previouos one "fried" after 5 years. I was very surprised when I got it home that there is no DVD driver. I called and was told that Apple dropped this feature in 2011. Of course the salesman did not mention this.
But what does everyone do? I have software to reload that came on discs or if I want to burn a movie to a DVD (I miss i DVD, I loved it)

Some things are not supported in Remote Disc:

Copy protected discs such as game discs.
Install discs for an operating system such as Microsoft Windows (for use with Boot Camp), or Mac OS X.
Burn a CD or DVD
As for iDVD, if you have the disks that came with your old Mac, you might be able to install iDVD from the bundled software disk.

What do you plan to do with java

I know this is a game development forum, but I had one question. What does everyone 'who is nice at java example abuse' (i'm not saying that no one else is nice, but he's name is the most catchyest) what do you plan to do with java. Do you really want to make games in java for the rest of your life, and prove to the world that java is gaining power? Or you just use java as the jump off point to learn anything else.

You are a genius! Man do I feel silly. So just for the benefit of others who might read this post, I did exactly as you said, and of course when I restarted FCP, I had to identify my Firewire NTSC setting for the drive. This time, instead of leaving my tapedrive offline, I left it on and immediately saw on my drive monitor the video coming off of my timeline.
Every thing works perfect. I now have a clean timeline with just the content I'm working on and don't have to worry about bars, slugs, post black. Just a few checkboxes and I'm ready to send my tapes off. Really nice feature.

I tried this step but it did not work. I have a Mac YosemiteOS 10.10.1. I copied to plug in files from Canon Print Studio Pro. Open canon utilities, open print studio pro, open CS4 folder and copied files CNPSPP101.plugin and CNPSPP102.plugin (not there is also a folder called CS5 but it has the fame plugin files)
I copy these files and then go to Photoshop Elements 13 and paste these files in Support File folder in Plug - ins and also did in folder Optional Plug-ins.
I then open Photoshop Elements 13 and hit Automation tools but Canon Pro Studio option is not there.
Can you provide more details on where I might be going wrong.
I put in a trial version of Elements 12 and have no problem. I just can't find where to purchase Elements 12 so I do not lose it in 30 days. Know where I can purchase?

Ditto, most Printer/scanner manufacturers are getting up to date with Lion compatable drivers now. Most are available from their websites. Some still want to install old scanner software which is PPC so will have to downgrade to SL again, because they won't look for Lion compatable software. I'm not sure I understand your question. Firefox 12 being the last version to support XP without SP2 implies that Firefox versions 4-11 would also work on XP without SP2.
You may have seen a reference to Firefox 3.6.28 because for a while Firefox 3.6 received some updates in parallel with the releases of Firefox 4-10, and 3.6.28 was the end of the line.
If there is an article that needs updating on this site -- and I can assure you there are many -- you may be able to submit proposed edits to it because many pages are "wiki" pages with an Edit link. Or if you want to post the URL of the problem page here, feel free to do that instead.

Sure though, some things out there don't work on panther. Like free songs from Amazon require a special downloader compatible with 10.4.x and higher.
If you want to listen to full songs for free, there's sites out there that let you type in what you want to listen to and you can stream it in from your browser.
Some sites like nintendo and probably others require Firefox. So, yes. Time is ticking against panther.
I'm in the serious consideration stage of upgrading to Tiger or Leopard. For some
things on the Web we need to stay current. Honestly, now a days everyone who uses
a computer needs to.
But, Panther is a very fun and snappy OS for me. I'll miss it's simplicity and humbleness. It's been totally awesome for my family and me! It's had it's shortcomings, but I look forward to a bright future in upgrading.

Sharepoint list dataheet view error "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available"

I have a List which is having around 14000 items in it.while opening that list in datasheet view it is giving error .
Below is a summary of the issue:
After selecting datasheet view beow error occurs:
    "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available."
    "Unable to retrieve all data."
    The item counts displays say 100 out of 14000 items.
Exporting List to excel is giving only 2000 records out of 14000 records.
Other Observations   -
This is happening to only one list on the site .There are other lists in the site whose no. of records is equal to 8000 to 9000.They are working absolutely fine without any error.
Also, If I am saving this list as a template and creating another list with it ,then it is working absolutely fine with 14000 records,so the issue does not seem to be related with no. of records as the template list is working fine.
I have checked the Alternate access mapping setting ,its fine.
It should not be related to lookup,datefield or any other column as the list created from it template is working fine with all these columns.
I checked below links also ,but doesn't seem to work in my case.

I have spent two days to resolve this issue. Microsoft has released two KBs with reference to this issue...but are not appearing in search results at the top.
I am sharing my finding.
1. First install the
KB2552989 (Hopefully you might have already installed it. The KB detetcts it and informs the user.)
2. Then update registry by adding new key for data fetch timeout as mentioned inKB2553007
These two steps resolved the issue in our environment. Hope it might help others as well.

My web application downloads a .doc file. With IE9 and Windows 7 it displays the dialog "What do you want to do with xxxx.doc? Open, Save, Save as" Prior to IE9 I could check the box that said "remember" but with IE9 I do not see a way to prevent
