IPhone Detected But Not Identified?
I hooked up my iPhone to my base that goes into my cpu and I got this message: "An iPhones was detected, but could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPhone and try again." I havent had any problems like this before. Will a reinstall over this iTunes fix the problem? I am running Windows XP. I have also noticed that when I plug up my phone, the Scanner and Camera Wizard pops up recognizing the iPhone as a camera. Also when running iTunes after I got that message, my cpu will freeze for about 5 seconds and work fine a little while then freeze again for 5 seconds. But when I close iTunes, it stops freezing.
I am having the same issue iPhone detected, but not identified. Did you get a solution to the problem? Had to go to th Apple store to register my phone. iPhone connected fine with their MacBook. That doesn't help me at home though.

What do you do when Ram preview lags but info box still states "fps 24: realtime"
What do you do when you are trying to RAM Preview and you can clearly tell the sync with audio is inconsistent with other times that you have RAM previewed the footage. Basically sometimes in RAM Preview it lags and other times it doesn't, making it look like everything lines up but then next time you RAM Preview it won't line up. the funny part is the "info" box still will say "fps: realtime"
I am currently using a 15" MacBook Pro running on OS X 10.7.5 (Lion)
--Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
--750 GB HardDrive
--16GB RAM
--AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB Graphics
I'm also using After Effects CC so I am going to try and upgrade to Mountain Lion or newer tonight.Upgrading an operating system in the middle of a project is not usually a
good idea. Alternatively, it might fix issues. Remember that you will need
to repair permissions after the upgrade. Apple OS upgrades (especially
Mavericks for some reason) caused a lot of issues with software like After
Effects after users upgraded to it. See this:

ITunes crashes on exit when iPod is connected, but not otherwise?
I had this problem ever since I installed iTunes 7...
It occoured as soon as I installed the new verison while still using my old 4gb first gen. iPod nano.
Now I just recently bought a new second generation nano, and still have the same problem.
And the issue is, Whenever I close iTunes while my iPod is connected (but not being updated), i get the message that "iTunes.exe has preformed an illegal operation and will be closed".
Though I just noticed that if I disconnect the iPod before closing itunes, it closes fine and normally.
I Have tried to solve it by following toturials for uninstalling both just iTunes, and iTunes + QuickTime at the same time, and preform separate installations after cleaning the temp. folder and restarting. None of it has helped me solve the problem
-And I have lived with ifor a while, but it is getting really annoying if I am sititng on my computer and jsut close iTunes, without disonnecting my iPod, to run another program using sound or a lot of system resources. And thne each time get the error-message that "iTunes preformed an illegal operation and..."
Anytihng that can be done? -I run NO plugins for the record, and the iPod is connected by USB cable (seeing it is a Nano)
Anything anyne can suggest that I'd do, then please tell.
-Or if anyone need to know more then please ask.
Bigtower III Pentium 4 Windows XP Pro [4gb Ipod nano. 2nd. gen.][Itunes 7.0.2.16]
Bigtower III Pentium 4 Windows XP ProHi, Im sorry just to add on to this discussion but I couldnt figure out how to start a new discussion and I am going mad! I have a new ipod because my last one was stolen and I have plugged it in and my PC wont recognise it. I think that is because my old ipod is the only one my computer will accept. Can that be right? It said the hardware device had been detected and then it said that it was troubled and it simply did not work. Now it is plugged in and not at all recognised in my computer anywhere. Can any one help this clueless girl who simply wants to listen to music again?
Thank you. -
How can I get my ipod nano connected to itunes?
What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an "account."
Did you download and install the latest version of iTunes, which is available here?
https://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have an earlier version, it may not support the most recent iPod nano, which could explain why Windows does not have the device driver to identify it. -

Ipod detected but not identified when connected - so won't work
Every time I connect my ipod nano to my computer (power book g4) I get a response - "An ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the ipod then try again."
I have tried this many times and keep getting the same response. The ipod has worked before on this computer no problem. I recently had my system reloaded at a 'genius bar' and I wonder if this might be part of the problem.
I have tried rebooting both the ipod and the computer but the problem persists.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
DavidI had this problem today, but I was connecting the iPod to a Windows laptop. I had to disconnect and reconnect it several times before it identified it "properly."

Ipod nano is detected but not identified
I have an ipod nano 3rd generation that works fine on my Macbook Pro laptop, but when I plug it in to my Dual 800MHz PowerPC G4, (it's an early classic stack), the computer tells me an ipod has been detected but can not identify it, and tells me to unplug and replug in, which doesn't do any good. The icon shows up on the desktop for a few brief seconds and then dissapears. I have Tiger 10.4.11 and have upgraded my USB port to a 2.0. Help Please...

My nano has been detected, but not identified. What do I do?
Help. I plugged in my iPod, and a little warning showed up that said, "An iPod has been detected, but could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again." Guess what? I did that maybe thirty times. Didn't work. Advice?
First I assume youre using ipod nano 5g and you have downloaded newest itunes 9?
(thats a must).
Something that often gets usb devices to run again: (i dont run vista but you can google how to find the info here is one link as to how to find device manager in vista;http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsvista/f/opendmvista.htm)
Once you find device manager the basic info below applies:
Plug the nano in. Now in your Start menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage". Click "Device Manager".
"Expand "USB devices". Can you see an entry in there for the Apple iPod driver? If so, right click on that and select "Uninstall" Or if it offers to repair it can try that first. Click OK. (The uninstall choice may take a while, leave it to its own devices for a while. this only uninstalls drivers not itunes to my knowledge).
After the driver uninstalls, unplug the nano. Wait until it has finished saying OK to disconnect on the nano screen
Now plug the nano back in. This should reinstall the driver"
I found this info in the other forum for connecting nano to windows but Ive used it in past.

IPod Nano 7 Gen is detected but not identified by iTunes on HP Windows 8
I own an iPod Nano 7 Gen and an HP computer with Windows 8. Ever since I installed the iTunes update back in November of 2014 my iPod has not functioned with iTunes. Whenever I plug it into my computer I receive an error message that reads "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. If the problem persist uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again." I have done all that the alert message has told me and even restarted my iPod. Has anyone found a simple solution to this problem?

HT201310 what do you do when apple tv says mode not supported
My apple tv stopped working and the tv says either no signal or mode not supported. I have restarted, unplugged the HDMI cables and restarted again. I have not updated any software. This Apple tv is new since December 14. The TV I have is older Samsung HD.
Can anyone assist?
Thankssounds like you raised the resolution to fullhd 1080p and the samsung can't cope
To select a video mode:
Press and hold both Menu and Menu up/scroll on the Apple Remote for about 6 seconds. Apple TV will cycle through different display resolutions.
When Apple TV reaches an acceptable display resolution and "If you can see the Apple logo, select OK" appears on your TV screen, press the Play button on the Remote. -
I purchased a new IPOD and my when I plug it in my computer says that it can not be identified.
In the past when I have plugged in a new ipod a screen will pop up and ask me to register it.
Why is this not happening?Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.
