What do you do when you have a cold/congestion/stuffed up?

Just curious about this. I feel a little stuffed up today and I can definitely feel it in my ears, which is sure to effect my mixing. Are there any engineer secrets I don't know about to clear this type of thing up? Medicine, drops, favorite beverage, anything. Its pretty annoying, and I know I can't trust my ears 100% right now. You guys are great.

Now ever-so-slowly, suck the
water up through your nose and into your sinuses.
Hold it in there for as long as you can (this will be
veey uncomfortable) then drain into an appropriate
receptical.
This really works (see above disclaimer). And don't
drown.
What?!?!?! X, are you sure you aren't just trying to kill off every other engineer, thereby leaving you to mix everything and get totally loaded to boot??? What next? A way of getting rid of stomach pains - take 50 constipation pills in one go? LOL

Umm.. I have a question what if you have not previously synced with iTunes?

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Where in god’s name is the homesharing button, I see a little cloud that you cannot click on and tells you what account you have but that's it. There's an option for turning on and off homesharing, but no button to access the actual library of the other PC. On either PCs. Both are logged in and both are registered for homesharing. however because apple keeps updating and moving things around for no reason there appears to be no way of accessing the homsharing button in the latest version of itunes. the website refers to " Once set up, all the libraries from your computers you've enabled Home Sharing on will show up in the SHARED area of iTunes:" well I have searched all over in the recent itunes versions and there is no "shared area" to be found.
Please find the attachment of a screen cap of my itunes.
If anyone can help by telling me where it has been moved to or if it even still exists that would be much appreciated.

  • Which IPod to buy my wife please? What do you have?

    Hey Kids,,
Last Ipod I bought was the 5th Gen Vid, around 2006...my wife wants a new one as the dial isn't responding well. Most of her use is audiobooks, like 90% of why she owns one..I know nothing about the "touch" or Nano, also GB must be fairly high as most E-books have as much data as a feature length film. I'm not worried about saving, I'm a tech Geek and never go cheap on my electronics..based on that info, can you offer suggestions which I should look at please? What do you have? Do you like it? The drawbacks?
Thanks so much for your valuable time..
    Wyattspoppa

That all depends on how much she is willing to learn. The iPod touch would be a great option capability-wise, but it might be a steeper learning curve coming from an iPod video. So really, no one knows your wife as well as you do, so the best thing to do is to visit an Apple Store or another authorized reseller and let her spend some time with each iPod hands-on.

  • What does it mean when i have a flashing folder with a question mark in it when i try to boot up?

what does it mean when I have a flashing folder with a question mark in the middle of it when I try to boot the interface?

It means the system cannot find a bootable OS. Reinstall OS X.
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
