Went to Google, tonefox, and found the information. As I told Meg, I am still "way over my head" with computers and still have to remember that you can 'Google" pretty much ANYTHING.

If you have encountered activation lock, your iPad will be useless unless you can contact the prior owner. They have to give you the ID and password, or erase it and remove it from their account as explained in the article you were reading. No one else can help you with this and there is no way around it.

Did you sync with iTunes after you updated your iPad? If you have been syncing your iPad with iTunes, simply sync again in order to put your apps back on the device. If you lost them for some reason, download them again using the same Apple ID that you bought them with.

Restore from Backup once more. Passcodes are not restored in backups, so you should be able to get on the iPod without a passcode, then go into Settings and set up a new one (or the old one if you want).

What carrier you are on should not be an issue when it comes to operating an app. What happens when you try and create an event? Do you see an error, does the calendar app do something when you try to add an event?
What user troubleshooting have you tried. Both are logged in and both are registered for homesharing. however because apple keeps updating and moving things around for no reason there appears to be no way of accessing the homsharing button in the latest version of itunes. the website refers to " Once set up, all the libraries from your computers you've enabled Home Sharing on will show up in the SHARED area of iTunes:" well I have searched all over in the recent itunes versions and there is no "shared area" to be found.
Please find the attachment of a screen cap of my itunes.
If anyone can help by telling me where it has been moved to or if it even still exists that would be much appreciated.
