What do you do when your macbook turns off by itself and then wont turn back on?

It's a macbook from 2010. Even if it is connected to a power source it shuts off.

Try this:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Airport turns off by itself and won't turn on back again!!!

hey there, i am currently facing an issue with the airport as by it is turnning off by itself and i cant turn it back on .. i have to restart !!!
sometimes when i turn on my mac like just now happened it is off and can;t be turned on.
please if anyone can help i would really appreciate it
    thank you very much

Hey, in case you haven't been able to find a solution to your original problem with airport turning off, i seem to have found the solution for my MacBook Pro. I called Apple Care and they had me to shut down my computer. Then, while holding down the four keys: command, option, R and P, push the power button to turn on the computer. Do not let up on the four keys until the start up chime has sounded twice. Then let up on the four keys and the OS will boot up as usual. They said what that does is reset your "sleep" parameters on your computer. This seemed to have solved my problem.

  • My razr m just stopped working turned off by itself and will not turn on

my razr m just stopped working turned off by itself and will not turn on

    raamw,
My wife has the exact same phone and I have the razr HD (basically the same, just larger screen etc).
We have run into the same thing a few times, and as stated above by Callie I have found it is a dead battery issue. BUT unlike my previous phone (Droid incredible) that I could usually plug in, wait a few minutes, then at least turn on and use while plugged in, I have found for the M and mine it really took a bit to get it charged.  Kind of like as long as there is some battery you are ok, but once it dies it takes a bit of charging.
ALSO - I am going to perhaps not use the right terms or words for this, but  I THINK (emphasize think) at least once it wasn't enough to use one of the lower amp chargers.  at least on mine.  tried to charge and charge and didn't seem to work.  Finally I took a charger that I normally need to use for my daughters tablet and use that then it had enough kick.  I will note I think that was the issue.
regardless each time yes it took awhile before we could turn them on.  ALSO it seemed like it took a much longer time in holding the power button down.  BUT eventually they started up and we were good to go.
we love our phones, she especially loves the size of the M.  BUT we have learned in the short 2-3 months we have had them, if possible, don't let the thing drain all the way.  just seems to cause a bit of a hastle

  • Iphone 5 turns off by itself and then turns on

iphone 5 turns off by itself and then turns on

Mine it's the same! Did you solve this already? Right before it turns off, it has a fade away screen or shows stripes! Then automatically turns back on! Now this problem happens more often!
I've reboot the iphone and restore it but still does the same.
How can I resolve this please?
    Thanks!

I have a US iPhone and I am in the UK, I had a problem with the battery and got it replaced in a UK Apple store but then I start having a shut down and reboot ...when I called the customer service they said we can't give the UK options since it is a US product!! And that I have to visit one of their stores to get it either repaired or replaced !!!so, is there a possibility to get it replaced in the UK?

You should really be asking this question in MacBook Pro: Notebooks: Apple Support Communities
because this sounds like a overheating problem and we're the Mac Pro (desktop workstation) forum.

  • Why does my ipod turn off by itself and then turn back on after up grading to ios 7

why does my ipod turn off by itself and then back on after upgrading to ios 7

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My phone turned off by itself and won't turn back on.

My phone turned off by itself and now it will not turn back on. I have tried both a soft and a hard restart and the only thing I get is the Dual Core Technology logo and it just stays on. I tried to do restart in regular and recovery mode and neither works. Is there a way to restart it without going back to factory settings????

I'm sorry your phone won't turn on jessesealey! I'm sure this is beyond frustrating. Do you know what function was used just before powering off? (text, email, internet, etc.) Has the phone been dropped or wet at all? Even steam/mist? I know a Hard Reset is an inconvenience, so you can try charging for 3-4 hours and try powering back on. If that still doesn't work, a Hard Reset is what will need to be done. http://vz.to/Yg68Th

Start by rebooting the iPad by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restart, ignoring the red slider if that appears.  See if that helps.

  • IPod 80gb turns of by itself and won't turn on, iPod 80gb turns off by itself and won't turn on

My iPod is acting a little weird lately. It completely turns of all by itself and won't turn on back again. It turns on only when I connect it to the PC. I taught it was the problem with the battery but, it happens even when it is fully charged. I was watching some videos right after I had it fully charged and all of a sudden it turned off. I tried turning it on but, it didn't work and I connected to my PC, the apple logo showed up slowly and started working as usual. Please help me to sort this out.

Try a hard reset the next time this happens to see if that helps.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, you may want to consider restoring your iPod via iTunes to rule out software corruption.

  • AirPort turns off by itself and won't turn on without restart

    Hi
I noticed that for a week or so, just few days prior to upgrade to Snow Leopard my (fully updated) MacBook Pro's wireless turns off for no apparent reason. When that happenes I cannot turn it on unless I restart the computer. I tried several solutions, from checking whether this is just an incompatibility issue with one of the applications I have, and non of the ones proved to cause the problem. I erased airport preferences, reset the PRAM, took the battery out and work on direct supply, but no change in behavior.
Now, if anyone have any idea that might work I'll try some options before taking it to service center.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm getting this same problem on a 5 day old new MacBook pro 15". However I found the "airport" utility.
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resource s/airport
You can turn on logging by using this command
    sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resourc es/airport debug +AllUserLand +AllDriver +AllVendor +LogFile
Then any airport events will be logged. I happened to have a quick working and then failing error log after turning it on, and it turns out that the problem happens when the Airport receives a false power down message somehow. My network stopped working at 00:13:50

    Etc...
What's interesting is Alarm Clock is working fine doing its normal thing, and then it gets the system will sleep message. So it sets a power event like it normally does (and this works fine usually when I close the lid and Airport comes back up) but this time I didn't close the lid.
Also the last message of 00:13:35 says "System SafeSleep" so the OS is obviously sleeping
It says that "Wake reason = EC LID0", which sounds like it thinks the Lid (screen) was lifted. And it also says "Previous Sleep Cause: 5".
    I wonder what 5 means?
Does anyone else with this issue get similar logs?
