What do you Mac users use, financially?

I love my ipad, and iphone but I'am tied to my pc because of the lack of bill paying software for the MacBooks. What do you who have the Mac products use? I have used Quicken for years and is the only thing holding me back from the Mac.

If you are in the states, there is a Quicken for Mac:
http://support.intuit.ca/quicken/en-ca/iq/Install-Quicken/Mac-Version-for-Quicke n/GEN81603.html
Elsewhere, you can simply use Bootcamp to install Windows for your non-Mac software. Then use Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion so you won't have to reboot in Windows. They interate well with the OS X shell and you would feel almost as if you are running Windows software in OS X natively.
Apart from Quicken, I recommend Mint. It's for Money Management, it's free and it is available on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Good budget management and transaction tracking capabilities and it's also owned by the same company who builds Quicken (Intuit). It doesn't pay bills but it does give you notifications on bills due. A lot of other neat features as well.
You can download it from Mac App Store, iOS App Store or just use the online version at mint.com.

  • How to sync 2 different Mac users using the same Apple ID and with out mixing each other info?

    How to sync 2 different Mac users using the same Apple ID and with out mixing each other info?
    We are two people using three difrent Macs, 1 Iphone and 1 Ipad with separate USERS  on each Mac but sharing the same Apple ID: xxxxxx
    I set up the first user to iCloud and it was OK but when I set up the second user to use iCoud the first users's info gets mixed with the second user's info?
    Do we have to set up a diffrent Apple ID for each other?
    Sometime ago I added my friends E mail (yyyyy) to the main Apple ID (xxxx) as for using his E mail account (to separate our e mail accounts, and it's working ok) but now when I try to create a new apple ID whith the same friend's e mail (yyyyyy)  it says that his mail (yyyyy) is already an apple ID when the Apple ID is really my E mail (xxxxx)... any clue?
    Thanks

    I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered
    Go here > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
    Manage your Apple ID and see if that does the trick
    Hope that helps

  • Whats a good mac to use for a home flight simulator with flight controls and foot pedals?

    whats a good mac to use for a home flight simulator with flight controls and foot pedals?
    My old 6100 AV worked great on A10 ATTACK, back in 1993.
    whats a good set up now a days?
    I havent seen any MAC set ups as a lot of the after market accessories are on  Windows platform.
    Is there a way or should I get a dedicated simulator on PC?

    The fact that USB flight input devices appear to Windows only is not a limitation; for Mac most are programmed through the sim itself. I know X-Plane does that.
    I've simmed a lot and know that good sims need a lot of processor and video hardware horsepower, and you'll also need a lot of RAM. They also run up the internal temps. A Mac Pro has better cooling than an iMac. You can get a program like SMCFanControl to manually set up the fans speeds before starting the sim.
    I know of no sims today that will still run on a PowerPC Mac (2005 and earlier) so you need to look to an Intel Mac with top specs. If looking at iMacs, start by looking for the quad-core i7 processor. Those models usually came with an up-rated video card. Thing 12 to 16GB RAM.
    My 2010 iMac has the 2.93gHz i7 processor, video hardware (ATI 5750) with 1TB VRAM, and 12 GB of RAM. It runs the x-Plane 10 demo fine but I've not bought the full version because v10 seems to make foot pedals darned near mandatory, and I don't want $100 worth of pedals under my regular work desk at the moment.

  • What do you think about using exceptions for something more than errors

    if you look the java.lang.Exception description at the JDK javadoc, you can see the following text:
    "The class Exception and its subclasses are a form of Throwable that indicates conditions that a reasonable application might want to catch."
    ... we cant see "error" word anywhere!!
    What do you think about using exceptions for something more than errors? Can be possible use them as a way for send information to upper layers?
    Thankx in regards...

    it seems that what you say is a functional way of achiveing that, yes
    but Exceptions are generally reserverd for "Exceptional" situations ie program messing up or invalid data
    it does require a fair bit of processor time to actually generate and throw an Exception.
    so, all in all its "better" to use "normal" condition flow control to achive what you want.. you can always return early, break loops, call methods to pass information

  • What do you think about using plant in this way?

    In your systems each plant is "real" - has real location and real manager, or also you have “virtual” plants to monitor a particular special process (for example: if you want different FI bookings for the same material movement type, or if you want to track special kinds of stock)?
    What do you think about using plant in this way?

    Hello Friend,
    It is surely a good step from FI point off view but creating something virtual and transacting on it, from MM point of view is not feasible as it is difficult to frame the scenario and work on it.
    Rest is your decision.

  • I Got Success For You Mac Users..

    My Fellow Mac Users, I Have Your Answer For Videos On The Ipod...
    1.GET Toast 7 Titanium.
    2.Open toast Titanium & Click The Video Tab Above
    3.Then Add Your Video To Toast.
    This Point ON THIS IS IMPORTANT..
    4.Make sure the video is highlighted & click export On the buttom Left Of The Program.
    Go to format and Choose Mpeg 4, then click options. File format MP4, Go down then & choose mpeg 4 improved, this will set the 320 x 240 and the frame rate and all that set., if you want go to audio and change the audio quality and encoding quality if u would like.
    after all that click ok, then save. it will convert to what u need it to be so it will successfully transfer onto the ipod. a 15 min tv show took about 10mins. so basically the length of the video will determine how long it will take to convert,
    this DOES WORK,

    Sounds like you need toast 7 because of the mpeg 4. You can download it at roxio.com. It is $99 although. I am sure someone will come out with a cheaper program (if not free) in the near future (I have tried various programs with limited success) but if you want them on the iPod now... this does indeed work.
    As far as the firewire.... unless you have usb 1 (like I do on my home iMac which is the computer I sync it too), the no firewire is a mute point in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I like firewire, but for the iPod, usb 2.0 works the same from what I can tell. As far as the iTrip... yup... price of progress, things become incompatible. From what I've heard though, Apple is encouraging everyone to use the dock connector for all because that interface won't change. I personally just bought an iTalk 3 weeks ago... can't use it.

  • What do you recommend to use as an offline data store, since SQL CE support is not in VS 2013?

    A few years back I was architecting an occasionally connected .Net desktop application.
    VS 2010 was offering full support for Microsoft Sync Framework and SQL CE with Entity Framework.
    This seemed like the perfect marriage, so I ran with it, and the resulting software solution is still successfully running in production, years later.
    Jump forward to today, and I am architecting a new occasionally connected .Net desktop application.
    I was really looking forward to taking advantage of the advances made by Microsoft in using the tools built into VS 2013.
    However, what I discovered has dumbfounded me.  VS 2013 has no designer support for Sync Framework, and worse, built in support for SQL CE has been completely removed, including the ability to generate Entity Framework models from a
    CE database using the designer.
    My question to the community is, what tools should I be using to solve the problem of offline storage in my brand new .Net application?
    I am aware of ErikEJ’s SQL Server Compact Toolbox, which brings back some support for these features in VS 2013, but it is not as fully featured as the VS 2010 native support was, plus it does not have the institutional “Microsoft” stamp on it.
    I am building a multimillion dollar corporate solution that I will have to support for many years.
     I would like to have some comfort that the technologies I select, today, will still be supported 5 years from now, unlike the way Microsoft has discontinued supporting Sync Framework and CE in the most recent VS.
    I can accept open source technologies, because there is a community behind them, or off the shelf corporate solutions, since they will be driven by financial gain, but I have trouble committing to a solution that is solely supported by an individual,
    even if that person is a very talented Microsoft MVP.
    Some of the features of SQL CE that I would like to keep are
    Built in encryption of the file on disk
    Easy querying with an ORM, like Entity Framework
    Tools to easily sync up the offline data store with values from SQL Server (even better if this can be done remotely, such as over WCF)
    Does not require installation of additional software on the client machine, as SQL Express would
    Please, provide your feedback to let me know how you have achieved this, without resorting to simply using an older version of VS or Management Studio.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Based on your description, you can try to use SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB.
    LocalDB is created specifically for developers. It is very easy to install and requires no management, but it offers the same T-SQL language, programming surface and client-side providers as the regular SQL Server Express.
    SQL Server LocalDB can work with Entity Framework and ADO.NET Syc Framework. However, there is no built-in encryption feature in LocalDB which
    can let you encrypt database. You should decrypt/encrypt data on your own, for example, using
    Cryptographic Functions
    Reference:SQL Express v LocalDB v SQL Compact Edition

  • What webcams are G25 users using?

    Hello,
    I'm having the same audio compression (chipmunk sound) issue as one of the other users, when I use the 'QuickCam for Notebooks Pro'. I tried using another camera and it worked fine, but it would not clip on to the thick screen of my G25.
    Can any of you let me know what kind of cameras your using successfully on the G25?
    Thanks, Bill.

    I'm having the same sound problem with my f20 with a quick cam pro 5000. I've found that uninstalling the camera mic resolves the sound issue! but you then have to plug in the supplied headset mic. Logitech suggested a clean installation of the camera software and re-loading the sound card drivers which I did to no avail.next stop Logitech support hotline.

  • Any mac user use some kind of apps to "clean" your mac???

    i know that a lot of software are build for "CLEAN YOUR MAC", software like clean my mac, mac keeper, ccleaner. etc
    they all said that when we use our mac, there are a lot of "dummiy files " like language pack or used history .ect that need to be cleaned.
    if we dun clean it, it will make the system laggy.
    i know some ppl on the internet said its true,then other ppl said that all these softwares are jus malware, its totally unecessary to use all these.
    the mac ox system will clean itself.
    which one is true???
    did Apple claim or announce anything about these software???
    If its true,the softwares can clean your mac, how come all of these apps CANT go to Mac App Store???
    IF its true, you guys use what software to run the cleaning process???

    Macs do not need "cleaning". Apps such as the ones you mention have the ability to wreck your Mac.
    If its true,the softwares can clean your mac, how come all of these apps CANT go to Mac App Store???
    Because they are not safe to use.
    There are apps in the App Store that suggest the ability or necessity to "clean" memory or unwanted files. They are worthless and are only capable of degrading performance and wasting power. They will also waste your time and your money. Deleting localization files will cause problems and cannot be un-done without reinstalling OS X. Language files use a negligible amount of disk space.
    IF its true, you guys use what software to run the cleaning process???
    A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
    Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
    Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
    Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
    Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
    Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
    Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
    Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
    Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
    Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
    Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
    Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
    Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
    Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
    Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
    Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
    If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
    Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
    The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
    OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
    Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
    If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
    Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
    Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
    Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • To what extent can XIR2 users use XIR3 platform, if at all?

    We are deploying XIR3 and we have suddenly been asked if XIR2 users can use the system. Is so what can / cannot be used? For example:
    1. Can an XIR2 user login to an XIR2 repository?
    2. Can they use an XIR2 Desktop Intelligence against an XIR3 CMS, Universe?
    3. Can they schedule an XIR2 report via an XIR3 repository?
    My suspicions are that they cannot, but if someone would be so kind as to clarify or advise which document to refer to that would be great
    Thanks...

    It's a large multinational company. One team is Global projects (just migrated from v 5.1.6 to XIR3). The other team is on a seperate group (R2, and will not upgrade for a while).
    One team has an XIR3 server, R3 universes and R3 reports. The other team only has an R2 deployment (reports, universes, connections - all). The R2 deployment has a different set of users, reports and universes but they need some of the R3 reports, connections and universes even though their users do not exist in the R3 environment.
    I found the following on page 57 of xi3_bip_upgrade_en.pdf:
    Although it is recommended that you upgrade all your Desktop Intelligence
    clients to Desktop Intelligence XI 3.0, you can continue using Desktop
    Intelligence XI Release 2 clients against a BusinessObjects Enterprise XI
    3.0 server during the upgrade phase.
    You can continue to use Desktop Intelligence XI Release 2 clients to connect
    to an XI 3.0Central Management Server (CMS), and to create, view, and
    edit Desktop Intelligence XI 3.0 documents that use either of the following.
    u2022 XI Release 2 universes.
    u2022 XI 3.0 universes that are based on XI Release 2 universe connections.
    You can also use Desktop Intelligence XI Release 2 and XI 3.0 clients on
    the same computer.
    Desktop Intelligence XI Release 2 does not work with universes that are
    based on XI 3.0 universe connections.
    Desktop Intelligence XI 3.0 clients work with both XI Release 2 and XI 3.0
    universes and universe connections. However, you cannot use Desktop
    Intelligence XI 3.0 to connect to an XI Release 2 CMS, or to use Desktop
    Intelligence documents through an XI Release 2InfoView.
    Note:
    u2022 It is highly recommended that you upgrade to Desktop Intelligence XI 3.0
    clients. Desktop Intelligence Release 2 and BusinessObjects Enterprise
    XI 3.0 interconnectivity should only be used to make the upgrade
    BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.0 easier.
    u2022 Do not use the Central Management Console (CMC) or Designer XI 3.0
    to edit XI Release 2 universe connections. Using the CMC or Designer
    to edit an XI Release 2 universe connection will convert the universe
    connection to an XI 3.0 format, and break compatibility. Desktop
    Intelligence XI Release 2 clients will not be able to use the XI 3.0 universe
    connections.

  • What do you suggest I use?

    I have been trying to make something like this using scatter brushes but it doesn't seem to be as nifty or organized. I'm thinking I might have to make it manually, unless somebody else suggests something I can actually use.
    What do you guys think I should try?

    I am if you do not know a little dyslexic or perhaps a lot so that should have been the stainer tool.
    I've done a little video
    http://mysite.verizon.net/wzphoto/SymbolsB.mov
    and then after your use the sprayer and the stainer you can consider the sizer tool as well.
    These tools are made specifically to do this type of thing.
    Here is a screen shot of what you can do with the sizer tool all the tools in the symbol pack have settings.

  • HT5996 What is the best way to find out what OS all Mac users on the server are running?

    I am the administrator of both Windows PC's as well as having 12 Mac-mini users.  I know several users have not updated their OS in quite a while.  Is there some way for me to find out what version a user is running beside going from one computer to another?
    I do have OS X Server if that makes a difference.
    I have been working with Mac's for less than a year, so I'm a work in progress when it comes to the Mac World.
    Thanks!

    If you're able to log into those computers, check the content of the file /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist on them. If you're working from a Mac, you may also be able to find out by selecting the drive in the Finder and choosing Get Info from the File menu.

  • What are you JHeadstart developers using in your SuperClasses?

    Hi Everyone:
    We are very new to JHeadstart/JDeveloper and have just established the method we are going to use at the Entity Level to convert input to Uppercase by putting the following code into a superclass and extending the .xml files of the entities from EntityImpl to this superclass which we called UWCustomEntities.
    What I am wondering is what other ways is this functionality being used by you more experienced JHeadstart Developers? I am trying not to re-invent the wheel and utilize methods that have worked well for you.
    Of course I can think of toLowerCase, what else are you using?
    Thanks so much in advance.
    Mary
    U of Windsor
    Example Code:
    package its.sis.BusinessModel.model;
    import oracle.jbo.AttributeDef;
    import oracle.jbo.server.EntityImpl;
    public class UWCustomEntities extends EntityImpl {
    public UWCustomEntities() {
    // This code converts the inputted string to Uppercase in the database.
    // April 27, 2007 mb
    protected void setAttributeInternal(int i, Object object) {
    Object value = object;
    AttributeDef def = getEntityDef().getAttributeDef(i);
    if ("true".equalsIgnoreCase((String)def.getProperty("UPPERCASE"))) {
    if (value != null && value instanceof String) {
    value = ((String)value).toUpperCase();
    super.setAttributeInternal(i, value);
    }

    archassistant is a KDE app, so i won't be using that... im thinking of giving wicd a whirl
    True, but im using it in Xfce4 and it works wihtout any problems, and the requirements are not a problems either.
    Archassistan requirements
    - arch linux distro !
    - QT ( qt4)
    - netcfg2
    So even if it is KDE you dont need a whole bunch of kde dependencies

  • What are you going to use to replace younited with?

    Hello "Youniters".
    We are living sad times. As many of you allready know, Younited is going to be sold to Synchronoss.
    I was a bit shocked about this - where can I now store my most precious files?
    So, my question is, are you still going to use younited or move to another service? Are there other Finnish/European cloud storages out there?

    Hello, Sorry for my reply, but if there need to replace younited with something.... it's anyway can not be better solution, than stay with younited. Because all of services (which known for me) can not be so:  - trust (as example about my decision) as original younited (but for me - it's just based on "by F-Secure"-design); - security-level; It's mean... if replace younited, because it's start be "modern" younited.... so, any other variants - not better too.There have normal companies... with normal solutions and potentially with privacy/security/quality points, but there without any "guarantees" that they very strong work with "privacy". Just because - it's all same around services. And with "common" meanings... it's not a "privacy". With new background for younited... it's not really big difference in fact. But indeed critical (or can be a critical point). And it's possible to use, for example, Norwegian solutions as trusted and privacy-based.... or other variants, which can be around nice realization: - but it's not really so "potential" trust-status, which was with F-Secure. - can be a lot of troubles around "security" and "quality" (but can be more interesting for use and with more interesting features).  So... there can be a good point to stop use any cloud-storage/sync-services and re-place it with any other variants (or which can be as default for platform or something, which can be just a space for something not important and work as cloud-storage with backup-meanings). For me - best feature with younited was "by F-Secure". If it dropped - younited not really interesting as "service for something important". And maybe just as "cloud space" for some trash... or some "temporary" things.... or some of other things (which can be placed under OneDrive too.... for example).
