What does a blocked caller hear?

Yes, I am using the latest version of my OS and Skype.  I use the "premium" version with a Skype phone number.  I have managed to block several marketing callers...only to have two new ones start showing up for every one I block.  My question is, what does a calling party hear when they call after I block them?  Is it just a "hang up" or is there some sort of "you have been blocked" message?

It makes your phone line busy to them 24x7.  I just blocked myself and reset all my Skype clients and that's exactly what it did.  I have had a Skype number for over eight years and I still get the occasional standard spam calls you get with any phone line (especially published/listed) except that I can block them when I couldn't with a standard provider.  I generally get auto dialer calls in pairs.  One to test it out followed by another within 5 minutes or so as a follow-up.  Most of the time I block those I don't get any more incoming for a while though some weeks I get a few sets of those.  Blocking helps even if it doesn't appear that way due to the unfathomable amount of fake number combinations.

  • What does a blocked number hear when trying to contact me?

Does anyone know details on blocked numbers?
If they try to text, do they get an alert or does it appear to them that the text went thru? Or, if a blocked number tries to call me, do they hear a message that says something? Will it tell them they've been blocked? I'm just curious what my ex-boyfriend will receive when he tries to call/text.

        Hi tsomera,
Allow me the opportunity to address your message/text block concerns. If you have blocked your ex-boyfriend's number using this method http://goo.gl/ZWRvx then below is the message he will hear:
Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call.

  • What does the WiFi calling indicator look like on Lumia 640.

I have a new Lumia 640 with Wifi calling. The EE setup instructions talk about getting a message from them and then within 24hrs being switched on and the phone will show a 'Wifi Calling Indicator' What is this as there is no reference in Lumia userguide or on EE search for this Icon. What does it look like? Also when the phone is restarted the Wifi calling stops working and the EE WIfi tile dissappears from the main screen.

Hi I have today had a chat with the call centre. My phone was obtained from the EE shop in Weston super Mare and they activated the WIFI calling. It has worked intermittantly since the start date. The symbol for WiFi Calling is NOT shown in the EE icons list or the Microsoft Icons list for the Lumia 640 hence my original question. I have now seen it and know what it looks like, different from the Samsung phones. Why not a standard symbol? The Wifi calling keeps stopping working putting the phone into mobile data mode only despite the Wifi calling setting selection still being shown for Wifi calling as ON. When dragging down the top of the screen the second line shows EE 4G instead of EE WIFI 4G and the tile shows EE instead of EE WIFI.Basically the Lumia 640 is not providing WIFI calling reliably. Whether it is a phone software/hardware error or an EE problem is unknown and proving impossible to identify. As I have no signal most of the time this facility is essential to me, I don't even advertise my number as it has been unobtainable for the past two years. After waiting for 18 months for this facility as it stands I would not recommend this Lumia 640 phone and EE WIFI calling facility.RegardsRetired Orange/EE Planning Engineer

  • What does an ignored call show up as in call history?

What does it mean when it says cancelled call in the call history?

What does it mean when it says cancelled call in the call history?
That means you tried to call the number, but "cancelled" the call before the call went through.

  • What's a "Blocked Caller"

On my "Recents" list is a call I received from a caller named "Blocked" - upon tapping the info arrow on the right - I see that the caller is named Blocked Caller with a date and time.
Have I blocked this caller? Can I "unblock" callers or is this happening on the other end? Is this a phone issue, address book function I am missing or an ATT function (I am new to ATT as of the iPhone)?
Any input would be appreciated - Thanks in advance.
BTW - the phone is amazing - Cheers to Apple on an impressive 1.0 release... as a frequent early adopter the iPhone beats the pants off of say... Aperture... which I now use regularly in my work flow, but which was a dog of dogs upon initial release.

This is an indication that the originator of the call to you has blocked the caller ID information normally forwarded from one carrier—landline or wireless—to another. Most carriers have a configurable option to allow you to prohibit the receipt of calls at your number when this information is blocked.
There are some legitimate reasons for blocking caller identity, but most are the result of parties attempting to disguise call origins: telemarketers, collection agencies and others are well know for routinely doing so.
Consider adding your iPhone mobile registry to the national DO NOT CALL list to diminish such behavior, and contact at&t customer support to determine if you can add or enable a typically free 'do not accept blocked calls' option to your account.

  • What is a "blocking call" method?

Hello, I'm new to java. In a tuturial I was reading a method was described as a "blocking call" method. Could any one explain to me this concept.
    Thank you,
    Jorge

A blocking call is a method in an I/O system that doesn't return until it has a result. It's the standard way most of Java I/O works. The most obvious example is when reading from a Socket, if there is no data present the call will block the calling thread until either data arrives or some time period expires. This is in contrast to the Non-blocking mode used in NIO to read from files and Sockets.
NIO is an advanced topic and not really appropriate to "New to Java".

  • What does a "Block Agent" Job Actually Do?

In the Job Activity tab of a 10.2.0.5 OEM, we now have the ability to create a "Block Agent" job. However, I can find no documentation on this job type (including within OEM online help). Can anyone explain what this does or why I'd want to create such a job. Thanks.

You would use it on agents that fail to upload properly. You would then block the agent until you can resolve the upload issue.
The good thing is when an agent is blocked, OMS will "ignore" requests from the blocked agent so you reduce workload on the OMS.

  • What happens when blocked caller attempts to call or text?

does somebody know the correct answer, have a family member i have been trying to get intouch with. no return text or phone calls. i am now wondering if maybe she has blocked me

If your call has been blocked you will receive a message, "The number you are dialing has calling restrictions that have been prevented the completion of this call." If you try to send a text message and you have been blocked, you will see a red X in the sent folder with status failed notification "Delivery failed, Invalid destination or service blocked at destination".

  • What does "skip subroutine call if busy" do???

    Hi,
    I didn't know about this...
Is this a 'proper' feature of LabVIEW? It's not documented, and the most
simple example I could come up with, crashes (reproducable). LabVIEW
    generates a bookkeep.cpp error, line 6??.

  • UDP Furewall setting in 10.4.6 - What does it block?

    For Tiger
I'm unclear about what I would be blocking if I activated the UDP setting in Firewall.
I am not networked to other computers except through a router for internet access in which my MAC is the primary. There's no direct file sharing or intentional remote access at this time. I may in future do FTP.
Is UDP of any concern in this case?
    Thanks.

Not really the best idea if you want to use the internet. Read here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UserDatagramProtocol
"Common network applications that use UDP include the Domain Name System (DNS), streaming media applications, Voice over IP, Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP), and online games."

  • Would like another recorded message for blocked caller to hear

Who elso would like Verizon to change or make options to the current message that blocked callers hear?  The current recording that the blocked caller hears when they call our verzon line says something to the effect that we have placed calling restrictions that prevents them from completing the call.  I would like Verizon to change this to a more generic message or a busy signal.

You may want to use something like YouMail where you could block calls and set your own greeting.

  • What does the Service Connector do, in technical terms?

    Hello,
My client is implementing SAP for the first time, and we're setting up the SAP remote support infrastructure (SNC over Internet).
The security team is concerned with the step where the Service Connector is run on a PC to open the network connection (if not already open).
I understand the Service Connector is downloading the stfk.oez file from SAP Support web site, and then executes an RFC call through the SAP Routers.
But question is - what does this RFC call actually do, technically speaking? Is it actually making some configuration changes in the SAP Routers? If so, is there any security mechanism in Service Connector preventing an unauthorized person to make a configuration change remotely on the SAP Router(s) ?
Or is the Service COnnector merely "pinging" SAP support backbone in order to "kickstart" the connection? I can't imagine why this would be required, normally you don't need to estblish a "network connection" in this way.
Or is the RFC call creating some kind of "RFC tunnel" (??) between SAP Router and SAP support backbone, that will allow SAP to access and reuse the very same RFC connection thread with their different protocols (SAP Gui, telnet, whatever...)
I've read all dokumentation at service.sap.com/access-support and e.g. related SAP notes e.g. 35010.
Nowhere is it explained what the Service Connector actually does and what is meant by "open network connection".
Another way to ask this question is:
    - In SAP Support web site only an authorized person can configure the "service connection" and define a time window when SAP can access the systems
    - Why is there a second step needed to open the "network connection", initiated from customer's PC. Why is this step required at all?
Anybody out there who can elobarate on an answer for this?
    Thanks,
    Lars

    Hi Lars,
Would the information in the link below help you?
    https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700002294272006E
From what I understand, the only thing that Service Connector does is to "give the approval and the connection parameters" to your local SAP Router to initiate a network tunnel between your local SAP Router and SAP's SAP Router.
    I hope this helps.

  • What does the caller hear when they call a "Blocked Number"?

Just curious to find out what the caller hears when they try to call me when I have blocked their number. TWC was calling non-stop to try to get me to add new services. Thanks.

Callers you have blocked will hear "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call."
People attempting to text to your number will get a notification that delivery failed.

  • What does the caller hear when his/her number is blocked?

Successfully blocked a phone number on Verizon, but just wondering if the person texting/calling from that number realizes anything or if it just seems to go through?

    Hello mring,
Unwanted calls are not fun at all! We at Verizon Wireless understand that, which is why we came out with this neat blocking feature! Since this question gets asked a lot by our customers, I would like the opportunity to provide some clarity on the topic. May I ask are you using our free call blocking option? If so then below is the message that the person being blocked will hear.
"Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call."
If you do not want the person being blocked to know that he/she is being blocked then please reply to this posting so I can provide additional options for you!
    Thank you...

  • When I block my caller Id what does the other person see.

My question is when I block my number/caller id on my iphone what does the reciever of the call see? Restricted/blocked or could it possibly be a bunch of numbers?? Like 13 digits. would it depend on the phone the other person has like if it is an old flip phone?
(when scrolling down I dont know the operating system) so ignore my answer to that if it even shows??

Depends on the carrier you use and the recipient's device. More than likely Blocked.
